Chinese Restaurant

Girl has got to eat! Yesterday we went (my BF and I) to the chinese restaurant called Two Dragons (for slovenian readers: that restaurant is in Celje). My darling is very fond of chinese cuisine and I don't mind eating exotic food from time to time. :)

For appetizer I chose fried wontons. These were filled with pork and shrimp, if I remember correctly, and were delicious!

We wanted to try something new. Yeah. Well. It sure was new. I've never eaten sushi before. I didn't really know what to expect, so I said: ''Why not? Let's try it!''. So we ordered makizushi (a type of sushi, made from sheet of algae/seaweed, rice and sashimi). It's served with sauce, wasabi and ginger. And the taste? It reminded me of sea. In a very bad way. I swallowed one piece and that was it. Serves me right: eating japanese dish in chinese restaurant...

We were hungry and it was obvious we weren't gonna eat makizushi, so we ordered something more appropriate for our stomaches: I ordered pork with garlic and my BF ordered spicy chicken. Both looked very similar and to tell the truth - tasted similar. :) Even I don't know which is which anymore. I just know that both dishes were very tasty. Yummy...

I'm a big girl and there was place left for the dessert. I decided to go with sesame seed balls. Good idea! Sesame and a filling of read bean paste... It reminded me of poppy seeds. Delicious!

Thanks for looking!

  1. Looks yummy! I've recently found a new favorite restaurant here in Doha, it's an Asian restaurant called Soy. Their food is divine, I could go there every day and never get tired of their food! :D

  8. Yes, I love eating sushi, but NOT the ones with the raw fish/raw meats, I only eat cooked things!

Sometimes I make my own sushi like California rolls or use whatever ingredients I have handy. Theoritically as long as you get the basic right, you can put whatever ingredients you like. They're quite easy to make. :)

  9. If you get the chance try pan-fried potstickers for an appetizer. My personal favorite. Make sure they are pan-fried not deep fat fried.

  11. Best to always eat what the restuarant is known for. I've never really eaten sushi so I wouldn't know what was good or bad. I do love Chinese food. My favorite soup is Hot and Sour soup. I also love steamed dumplings. They usually have pork in them. A good dish is Moo Shu Pork. Pork and vegetables with hoisin sauce with a thin pancake to wrap it in. Delicious.

  12. I agree! I don't know what I was thinking. :) Hot & sour is my favourite soup too! I've been to different chinese restaurants in Slovenia, but only one makes really good H&S soup. It has to be more hot than sour. :) I'll try steamed dumplings and Moo Shu pork next time. Thanks for recommendation! I think we have similar taste. :)
