Curling nails & Chocolate Goodness

It's almost one o'clock in the morning here. I just washed the dishes and decided to do a ''test''. Well, I know my nails get wider at the tips when I soak them in water for longer time, but I have never known how much. The first photo was taken immediately after the dish washing. You can see that the width of the nail is the same in the middle and at the tips.

And what we have here? This is a picture from a few days back, when they were dry. Can you see the difference?

I know I'm not discovering something new, but I'd really like to know a few things. Does this happen to you too? Why are nails curling in the first place? Can I stop it? How? Do you prefer the nails to have the same width or do you like them curled a little?

Now that I'm done with my "midnight madness", we can skip to the good stuff. My BF discovered a new chocolate that I must tell you about. It's Moser Roth chocolate. I tried the one with Cherry & Chilli and the one with Orange. If you can get them, I dare you to try it. :)

It's so pretty...

... and tasty...

... and ''juicy''. :) Mmmmmmm

Thanks for looking! :D

  2. My nails curl too. It's because your nails absorb water where you don't paint them. It can be fixed by putting topcoat under your nail. That is what I have been doing and it seems to be helping!

  3. Oh! Never seen that before :P Or maybe is it just me ... my nails break too easily to even grow that long :P And if they do well I don't do dishes :P

I want that chocolate too! :) Where did you get it? (Muller?)

I don't think mine flatten out after soaking. I think they are too thick. I'll look tonight after I shower and see.

You big tease with the nummy chocolate...you get a girl hooked and then leave her hanging! LOL

  6. My nails do that too and in a bad way. They curl to the point where they almost cut into my skin like an ingrown nail. I was hoping a gel overlay would make them to strong to do that but no such luck.

  7. ahhh this happens to me aswell, its so annoying ive cut my nails numerous times cause of the curling,i still havent found a cure for it..

that chocolateee looks sooo good yummmmmmmm *drools*

  8. I never noticed that! I did notice that after a shower, I can fully bend my nail which is kinda gross.

I prefer my nails to have the same width all the way.

And those chocolates look yummy! I don't think we have those in Canada though, but enjoy it! It looks so delicious, I love chocolate!

  10. *has a hard time recovering from all that chocolatey-goodness*

Well, my nails aren't long, though I wish they were. I have a baby and I'm very clumsy so I'm too afraid I would hurt him if I had long claws.
But judging from the pictures of the ladies who have beautiful long nails out there, curling seems to be pretty common and from my guess, natural too.
Truth be told I find that very long nails that curl a little are more elegant than "flatter-looking" ones.

  12. I tried putting top coat under my nails, but it just chips off. I'll try different type of top coat. Thanks for the tip! :)

  13. I got this chocolate in Hofer. They have some gooooooood chocolates there. I prefer German/Austrian chocolates. :)

  15. Well, you and your nails are something else. I could never grow them so long. :(
    Hihihi, chocolate is goood....

  16. Oh my! How long are your nails?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I usually cut them too when they're longer and curl like crazy.

  18. You can fully bend your nails? WOW! Mine would break instantly.

  19. You do that and tell me if it works for you! :)

  20. I know what you're talking about. I have a month old niece and have to be very careful not to hurt her with my nails. But I don't carry her around every day, so it's OK. :)

  21. I haven't noticed if my nails widen when they get wet, but my nails grow wider when they "leave" the nail bed, and I hate it! I would much prefer if they curled a little, I think it looks much better with straight nails.

  24. I had one bad curling problem before, the nails actually hurt and they curled so much that I could not clean them, it was I believe now the Nailtek Hydration Therapy II, funnily enough, hydrate it did not it dried the nails instead. Straight to the bin, I tried at least 10 bc's since then and none does it so bad, some tc like poshe curls the nails too.

  25. This always happens to me! My two pointer fingers and my ring fingers curl the worst, and my middle nails lay almost completely flat which looks pretty wonky. I have also noticed (maybe I am crazy, haha) that the more the nails curl, the faster they grow, and my almost flat middle finger nails grow the slowest.

  26. This happens to me when I would have my natural nails, the #1 cause of chipping/peeling I will say. I would paint the underside of my nails, as well as the edge... I think that they call this 'wrapping the tip' in top coat/ polish. A good habit to start with top coat.

I will be painting the underside and very edge of my natural nails when I wear acrylic now too, in order to prevent water absorption, and preserve the wear of my false nails in the future.

Please, please give us a warning when posting these yummy chocolate pictures! I am trying to quit and this is PURE torture!

  27. Right now they are somewhere in between your length and Evil Angels amazing tallons but I'm thinking of cutting them down again because of this.

  28. That's the thing with us people. We always want what we don't have. I'd rather my nails wouldn't curl. :)

  29. Thanks, tartofraises! :)

  30. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing with us. I guess I won't be buying Hydration Therapy anytime soon. :)

  31. Interesting. In my case, the middle one curls the most. :) I guess we're the opposites. :) I haven't notice faster growth... Not until now. I'll pay more attention to it from now on.

  32. Oh, so you wear acrylics. I'd try that, but I think it would be to expensive and risky. I've heard women have troubles when removing acrylics.

    I don´t know why, too...

  34. I never realized that nails did that. Let's get to the good stuff. That chocolate looks delicious. I really love cherry with chocolate. All of it looks good.

  35. Thank you so much, Fernanda! :) Surely I can send you some chocolate. :) When can arrange a swap sometime.

  36. But did you see, it's not just cherry, it's also chilli in it. :)

  37. My ring finger is my worst fingernail for curling. It tends to curl on one side more than the other - making my nail look like it's growing crooked. It flattens when soaked as yours do. I hate it. My pet peeve. When I can't stand the curling the nails get chopped and it's back to square one. I've also noticed it's my fastest growing nail tho... right now it's bugging me. It's just started curling. I want to pull it out and superglue it out....

  38. Fingernails curling can lead to a serious health problem. You should really have your doc look at them if it is that noticeably bad!
