Movie: Repo! The Genetic Opera

I wanted to post about this movie for a long time. But I always forgot. I think now it's the time. There's a movie coming out this year called Repo Men with Jude Law... I saw the trailer yesterday and I think a little bit of me just died. Repo Men is a rip off!

Let me introduce you to the REAL Repo Man in Repo! The Genetic Opera movie.

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a movie from 2008. Don't worry if you haven't heard about it. It never came to the cinemas, it was only played at film festivals.

''In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.'' (IMDB)

It's a ''horror'' musical and (in my opinion) a piece of art. That's why I wanted to tell you about it. But I warn you - this movie isn't for everyone.
Let me know what you think about Repo! The Genetic Opera!

P.S: Don't be worried about the certain person in the cast! =)

Thanks for looking!

  1. I saw that movie a while ago. I thought it was an interesting movie. Lloved Sarah Brightman's character, her look and her voice. Of course I'm a fan of Sarah. I'd totally want to dress up as Blind Meg for Halloween....Did you like it?

  3. I've gotta check this one out! Thanks for pointing us to it. I have a friend who is in the new movie, gets his kidney or something ripped out by Forrest Whitaker, small part but he's a good friend. So I have to go see the new one too.
This happens often though. The feature film "9" was from this little vignette that I saw at the Animation Show when it came to town in 2006 or 2007.

  5. Oh! Having read the name Ogre in the cast, I had to Google to see if it was Ogre Nivek of Skinny Puppy- one of my favorite bands. And it is!!!
I met Ogre at an after-party for The Greater Wrong Of The Right concert in Philadelphia.
