It Bugs Me...

...when little ''mother effers'' walk around my house and I don't know what they are. There's a lot of bugs, birds, butterflies and I can't know them all, but these little creatures made me think.

I love to learn new stuff. And I was happy when I found these creatures on the net. Now I know their slovene, latin and english name. This are Firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus). Did you know that? They're mating in April and May and I guess they are right on time...

I don't really like bugs that much, but I am an animal person and I can find an inspiration in almost everything. Firebugs inspired this manicure:

I used: Nu Colors Scarlet as a base, ManGlaze Matte is Murder for the triangle, Color Club Where's the Soiree black nail polish and 'custom made' guides made from tape.

I thought the mani is absolutely ugly, so I decided to go all the way with it. I also tried my Photoshoping skills while I was at it. =) As I said: I love learning.

Totally random though: I miss Gil Grissom!

And what would it look like if there wasn't a cat with me while I was ''researching'' the bugs... Gaia likes them too. She usually tries to eat them (I'm the one who tries to prevent that) but these red babies didn't look delicious to her.

Can you see the Firebug at the cat logo? =) Gaia is watching it. Really close.

Thanks for looking!

  7. Aww Gaia is so cute! Cats are funny. They have so much personality! I love your Firebug manicure. I skimmed the photos before I read and was really confused on how you got the bug on your nail. I thought maybe you had cut-up and glued on a bug toy! And then I was thinking... "Wow that's an amazingly realistic toy bug!".

P.S. Firebugs remind me of an insect we have around here (Iowa, US): the Box Elder bug

  10. Quite an interesting looking bug even though I don't like bugs. And the mani is very striking. I love learning new things too! I miss Gil Grissom too! Terribly! I hardly even watch CSI anymore. Jeff Goldblum's character on Law & Order Criminal Intent has taken his place for me. Also, how many cats were in the picture, minus your logo?

  18. LOL =) Box Elder bugs really look like Firebugs. But our bugs are fatter. =)

  19. Thanks, Marsha! I can see that you mastered Google. =)
I have to agree with you. Since Gil is gone, I don't watch that show anymore. The new episodes of Law&Order aren't here yet. I like the Special Victims Unit better anyway.
And about the panoramic photo: there are three cats on the photo. Without the logo. =)

  20. I wished to understand Photoshop for a long time. It's a hard program for me, but I do it with baby steps. And I think I've learned some things by now.
