Eurovision Part 1

I know I have a lot of non EU readers, but still. Today is the first day (out of three) of Eurovision. I never was a huge fan of this even, but today I felt like sharing. XD

First of all, let me just say that Slovenia sucks on Eurovision. We usually send such crappy songs it's no wonder noone gives us points. This year is just like that. I'm ashamed really. We have great a few great musicians here, but they don't want to have anything to do with this event. Wonder why... *coughs* =)

Do you *really* want to hear it? Really? It sucks so bad and I know I'm gonna regret it...but here it goes... THIS is Slovenian song for Eurovision. *vomits* They wanted to make a cool mix of our folk music (with harmonica and all - polka anyone?) and rock... But this is just crap. If you want to hear some good Slovenian folk music, you'll have to listen to Avseniki. This song (in the link) is actually the most played instrumental song in all of Europe. That's saying something. =)

Eurovision is taking place in Norway this year, because the last year's winner is Norwegian. And darn cute too, if I may add. His smile is contageous and the music isn't that bad either.

This is Alexander Rybak who won last year with the song Fairytale. Try not to fall in love with his dimples, ok? XD I already did. But I'm weak like that.

I'll be back with more... Gotta watch the show now. =)

Thanks for looking!

  1. Oh, dimples... Everyone was drolling over him last year.

  2. I'm a little late. I'm drooling over him right now. I'd surely let him park his SUV in my parking space. XD

  3. Hey at least you guys didn't send...a turkey puppet like we did a couple of years ago! Seriously! Ireland used to own the Eurovision but in the last 10 years I have been too embarrassed to watch. Once they opened up the national votes to the public (BAD idea) it all went downhill. :D

  4. Oooooo, Alexander Rybak - I like it! ;) LOL <3

  5. Do you really think Slovenia did worse than the Serbia song that is curently playing when I'm writing this. Next to this, the Finnish song seems decent even though I don't like that one either.

I've like Eurovision since I can remember. The only Finnish song I've ever like was Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah that won a few years ago. Mainly Finland sends only crappy artist there though. The thing I like the most is the point giving system when they say "Germany, 10 points, France 12 points" etc. I find that super fun :D

  6. I hate our song too (the Finnish one that is). Tbh in this semifinal most songs have been AWFUL this far.

  7. LOL I remember that one. =D Ireland had some GREAT songs though. We didn't.

  8. Who doesn't?! =)

  9. Yes, I think so. =) Serbia will probably go in finale, we won't.
Lordi rocked the Eurovision. It was my first time to vote on this thing. And last time. =) I also liked another finnish song - Leave Me Alone by Hanna Pakarinen.

    Yeah, voting is just politics.

  10. Agree with the second sentence. I think that Belgium and Serbia are going to finale... so far.

  11. The UK never wins. Everybody in the EU hates us.

  12. No, you just send crappy songs on Eurovision. Like we do. =D

  13. I'm actually glad that Iceland got there. She can at least sing and the song is like made for Eurovision winner. Didn't really care about rest of the finalists.

  14. Everything can happen at Eurovision. Lordi won in 2006. At first I did not know them but they were so... different and I got interested in. They rock!
And I love them and their music! Actually Lordi is my favourite band, so thank you Eurovision to introduce me to them! :)

Have a good night and don't fall asleep during the results :-)

  15. I have to agree with Duvessa, the only song that i liked so far was from Iceland.
Well, i don't like this polka-rock mix of ours either, it's just not homogenic enough (like two songs fighting XD ).

  16. France is pretty pathetic as well when it comes to Eurovision...what can I say, the people choosing the singer seem to have worse and worse taste every year. At least everyone gets a good laugh out of us ^_^

  17. Britain sucks too. Norway went mad when they won, Alexander is a big celebrity over there.

  18. Spain sucks too, specially this year. I really liked the song "Cvet z juga" by Alenka Gotar in 2007.

  19. Like Chocaddict said, France is not better :) This year we sent a """"summer song"""" which has no sense at all, the music is not music, the singer sings like crap.
French people are not interested in Eurovision at all, nobody wants to watch it and nobody cares :)
Eurovision is more a "walk of shame" contest :D
I liked the Belgian song this year, not so bad.
And I really appreciated Norway and Israel last year.

  20. I freakin' love Eurovision, precisely because most/all of the songs are sooooo very bad. Not to mention the dancing, the costumes..... One year there was a ballerina IN A PIANO. Genius, especially because it was supposed to be a soulful ballad and in no way hilarious. Likeminded friends + Eurovision + a little / a lot of alcohol = WIN.

  21. Whow, that's pretty bad. At least it makes me less ahamed for our (Slovak, that is) song. A failed attempt on oriental themed electropop with the most feeble-minded lyrics ever. I am glad that only very few people will be able to understand and savour the overwhelming silliness to its full extent.

  22. I think there will be better songs in the 2nd semi-final. Except for our song of course.

  23. Yeah, I met a Finn just before the Eurovision 2006. And he told me about Lordi... That was the first year I actually voted for someone. =)

  24. I don't like that song at all. She knows how to sing, but... nope.

    ReplyDelete
  25. But Britain won a couple of times, so that's something. =D The best we did was 7th place.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I heard Alenka was quite popular in Spain. =)

    ReplyDelete
  27. About Eurovision - it's the same here. ''Walk of shame'' describes it best. =D

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, your song isn't that bad. =)
