I'm Ashamed

I'm ashamed of being a student. Really ashamed. You have the right to study, to work and to demonstrate... and this was just too much. And I'm far from living in a wealthy family.

Who do you think is gonna pay for the broken windows? Your parents, dear students. Very ''smart'' move...

  1. :( It's always sucky to see students protesting in a violent manner. I'm a uni student, too. We, thankfully, just have stupid drunks here.

  2. Yeah, and I bet they don't even know what they're protesting about. A few of student organisations want to make more money and the students are just like sheep. Sad.

  3. Most times, it's how things happen. One or two people get outraged by something, and somehow word spreads of the outrage alone, and rarely the reason. Ultimately, we're left with a herd of angry townspeople with pitchforks screaming about some unknown injustice.

I wish people would stop to think, even if only for a minute. It could prevent so much stupidity and ignorant action/violence.

  4. We never had any protesting at my university (Iowa State) but we did have a big riot during our annual VEISHEA celebration (2004). I guess it caused $250,000 in damages. Police were using tear gas (in the middle of the night) to break up the crowds and it was coming through the dorm windows! Street lamps were knocked down, windows broken, and someone even lit a trash dumpster on fire and they were pushing it though the streets! The riot made national news! Stupid drunk people. I can't remember right but I think they cancelled VEISHEA the following year.

  5. oh well- what can i say; they've protested at my uni (university vienna) and occupied 2 of the biggest auditoriums ....

it costed about 1.5 million€ (or even more?!) to rent alternative rooms and so on....

You're thinking "students" ought to be deep thinkers and take the broader view when all they're thinking about is where the next party is! LOL
I hear you loud and clear though Nihrida dear, Mob mentality is scary and stupid. Deep down inside, we're all monkeys. Ask Aishila. :)

Dobil so prost dan in so ga šli zapit.

  9. I'm sort of ashamed too. And those people are supposed to be the intellectuals of our country, "future leaders". Bleh:(

And I strongly think ŠOS should pay for the damage and be responsible. They had to know beforehand that a mass of drunken, stupid and pumped up teenagers amount to no good.

  10. Well, if it comes to this kind of things, then it's best to cancel everything. This is just plain stupidity and vandalism.

  11. That's why it's never smart to do it... someone has to pay for it later.

XD

  13. Not really. I just think they went to far with this. It certainly won't help them to get what they want. Aishila says ''nom nom nom''. XD

  15. Money makes the world go round. And it's always nice to have a crowd of sheeps with you to make you look more important.
I agree with you. ŠOS should pay for this. You know what... I've been a student for a few years now and I've never had any benefit from ŠOS. Nice...

  19. @Anja: Točno tako!
