Illamasqua Liquid Metal - Resolute

I took these photos on Thursday, but haven't post them yet... Anyway, here it is: Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Resolute.

Resolute is a brownish red metallic creme. It doesn't look as red on skin, at least not on mine.

I used Resolute as a base for eyeshadow. It applies quite smoothly, but I did get some bald spots (like with nail polish) on some areas. Or maybe that's just because of the metallic reflection. I'm not sure, but what I'm sure of, is that eyeshadow sticks really nicely to it. The downside is this liquid metal isn't as long lasting as I'd want it to be. I do have greasy eyelids, so I think I'd be better for those of you who have dry eyelids. Another solution might be eyeshadow primer. I don't know why, but I never wear primer under creme shadows. Am I missing something?

I love the color, although I hoped it would look more red once applied. Actually, I like everything about this product, except the staying power.

This product gets 3 and a half kisses from me. It's better than your average creme eyeshadow (or whatever this thing is), but I really want my eye products to stay put. Well, who doesn't.

What do you think about this product? Do you like it?

Thanks for looking!

  1. The colour looks beautiful! Illamasqua like to make multi-use products, so this could be used as a lip colour or even blush for those with darker skin.

  2. Yeah, I know Illamasqua likes to make multi-purpose products, but this one has ''Not for use on lips'' written on the package. Not sure why, but I guess they know what they're talking about.

  3. Prva slika je prekrasna! Res si lepa! <3

  4. beautiful photos, it would look crap on me, this color generally but it looks great on you in this combination.
    and, THE HAIR!!!

  5. I always read you (and when I say always I really mean it - google reader was a great invention! :P ) but this is the first time I "dare" to comment.
    I would like to say you that: in fist pic you look simply G O R G E O U S!
really, I thinks this colour looks wonderful on you and fits perfectly with you skin tone and eye color.
[and, oh, yes, I have to admit I'm quite a fan of red eyeshadows;)]

  6. you always have the best polish ever!

  7. Gorgeous pics!
    You could model!
I love the color, but it would look dreadful on me :( Like someone punched me on the eye...I have warm undertones and dark eyes...and red eyeshadow does nooot work on me! :(

  8. Hello,
I have a question about your application of the cream in post. In those pics is it just the cream or did you add an additional product? And how did you apply it, with a brush, sponge, or fingers?
It looks beautiful! I have similar coloring to you and I'm always looking for a new twist on a "smoky" eye. Thanks!

  9. @Alyson: I added additional produts. The cream was used as base for an eyeshadow in similar color. As I said, I took these photos on Thursday and I forgot exactly what products I used, but I do know I used: Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Resolute, 1 of the Coastal Scents eyeshadows, black pencil and mascara.
I applied Resolute with Coastal Scents Medium Chisel Fluff brush.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Unfortunatelly I just read the post about Gaia... :/
I'm sorry for writing this in a totally diferent post, but I wanted to make sure that u would read it.

I'm so so so sorry for your lost! :(
I don't know what to say...

Ignorant and poor people those who thinks that you overreact and that say "it's just a cat".
As u said, they have soul, personality and are family members.

I'm a Brazilian reader , a fan of yours posts, swatches, and mostly of all the pictures and things you write about your little lovely kitties.
I also have 3 cuties like that, and I can imagine how it hurts to loose one of them...
I cried rivers and rivers when I read it, can't stop feeling sad for that.:(

all I have to say is...
    Keep strong, girl.
I know youll find comfort soon and God will relieve your pain.

    So sorry, again.
    RIP :~~

  11. @Marcella: I moderate my posts, so I read them ALL no matter where you post them.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Although they can't take the pain away, they make me feel better in a way. Thank you for that!

  12. I haven't tried this product yet. But the colour look gorgeous in your eyes! (I wish I had those beautiful green of yours). I always use primer on my lids, and I don't have any problems with metallic or liquid shadows.

  13. I love the make up you did, you're a little beauty. Cream eyeshadows have a very sexy, fresh and wet appearance, but I don't like to wear them. They fade out in less than an hour and if they stay, they crease like crazy. I have normal to dry eyelids and it doesn't work either (with or without base, fixed with eyeshadow or not). At the end, I'm not sure who can wear them and still look good at the end of the day. Great color though!

  14. I've been reading your blog for such a long time, I just couldn't comment.
Just wanted to say I love your nails and especially the swatches which are always amazing.
And I'm so sorry about Gaia :(

  15. I agree, this look is fantastic on you. I immediately thought: Cuddy from House. Except you look better :)

  18. You're just gorgeous!! Love everything on your blog.

  19. wow, those photos are beautiful <3 you should use the first one as your blog-banner! :)

  20. Beautiful shade on you. I would automatically use it on my lips. I love it as an eyeshadow. It's very flattering on you. You look so lovely in your phots.

  21. That looks so pretty on you!! I have several of these liquid metals that I just had to have...well I have tried very hard to make them work but absolutely cannot. I am devastated! I have pretty normal lids, too - not very dry but not oily. They will not stay, not matter what I do. I've used primer underneath - several types. I pat shadow over top. I've worn them plain. They are so freaking hot but the longest I get without creasing is maybe four hours - tops. It's so sad. ;( If anyone can tell me how to make them work I would be eternally grateful!
