Urban Decay Primer Potion - as gorgeous as the packaging looks, it's also very impractical. We all know that, don't we. I'm gonna tell you how I made the most out of it. I didn't invent anything new, but I thought it might interest you. Let's take a look...

So, this is your standard Urban Decay Primer Potion. It looks so pretty, but you have a feeling you're running out of the product and preparing yourself to buy a new one.

Before you throw it away, thinking it's empty, make sure there's really no more product inside the amazing purple bottle. First thing you can do (and still enjoy in the oriental shaped bottle) is to remove the plastic cap on the top of the bottle neck. After you remove the plastic part, I'm sure you'll be able to use it for at least a dozen times (probably a lot more).

This bottle is really sneaky though. It will try to convince you one more time, that you're running out of product. There's nothing to loose, so just take a knife and cut the bottle in half (be careful doing it!). Look what I found in there:

And that was after I thought I'd have to buy new bottle of UDPP. See how much product there's left?

I took a spoon, scraped the primer out of the bottle with a handle and put it in a small plastic jar. I think I'm good for another few months. =)

Hope you find this useful. Thanks for looking!

I did the same thing with mine.
ReplyDeleteI had a cutting accident trying to do this - so be careful :P
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe how much was left either, bad design!
I'm just glad they changed the bottle type!
ReplyDeletewhat a good idea - i always end up cutting my eight our cream tubes in half, but it's not very practical if you want to carry them about! i'm going to start doing this with all my products!

Well done. I also did so with my UDPP and there was really a huge amount left, unbelievable.
ReplyDeletebrilliant!!! terrible product design though, if we have to do this just to get to the product.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this--I've done the same thing with mine. This stuff is great but very deceiving when you think you're out of product!
ReplyDeleteThe applicator is different now, i hope it will be easier to scoop things out!
ReplyDeleteHoly CRAP. I knew there would be leftover but... omg, that is so much. I won't lie, I avoid UDPP for that reason. TFSI can do a similar thing but not as bad. I've gotten samples of UDPP in palettes and such, and literally got 2 uses and it was "done".
ReplyDeleteI've read before that this is what to do when you think you're running out of UDPP but I've never seen *how* to do it! I wasn't prepared for how much was left in your bottle! Wow! I'm actually a little excited for when I think mine is running low so I can do this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
Woooow! Hvala za informacijo! ;)
ReplyDeletewow that's a LOT of product!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeletewow! that's a lot of product--- I've heard of cutting tubes open but never actually seen it... I like your small jar idea. Maybe I'll cut my potion open now-- I thought it was dry but who knows what I'll find inside=)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow!! I've always heard that UDPP's container is horrible, but I didn't know it was THAT bad. Those sneaky bastards!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute bottle but yeah, not practical. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for showing this to us.
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure to do this when I think mine is running out. It's really too bad that with such a great formula they have an amazingly inpractical bottle design. I guess it's what most consumers want. I wish it was a squeeze tube.
I have to do it too...so much product left inside! =O
ReplyDeleteOderuhi!!!
ReplyDeleteJoj kako slaba embalaža :/
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I just threw mine away, may dig it out of the trash =D
ReplyDeleteholy ****! mm half product left inside?? nice looking package but not "friendly"
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I just ordered my first bottle! It is on the delivery truck as we speak. Now, when I think it's gone I'll know what to do! :)
ReplyDeletewow, I'm glad I found this out!
ReplyDeleteI have just bought my 1st primer potion. I'll be sure to that when I think mine's all gone!
Thanks for the tip doll!
What a wasteful design. Shame on UD for allowing this kind of waste to find it's way into our trash piles. I'm disappointed in this company. Thanks for pointing this out. I'm just amazed at the waste!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! My very first PP arrived in my mailbox today, and I plan on using every last bit of it! :)
ReplyDeleteI have ALWAYS hated that bottle, but love the product. It is so worth it to get every last drop. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWhat a ridiculous packaging! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteI do this with almost every tube-like product, such ad face lotion, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much they left behind...
Me too I do this with my tooth paste, and hand or face lotion ^-^.
ReplyDeleteTerrific idea placing the rest of the product in a jar. Urban Decay isn't dumb. They know that you'll think your out and will have to buy more. They don't know the geniuses that are posting about beauty products. Thanks for the good information.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazineess!
