120 Eyeshadow Palette

Look what I got in the mail today...

It's a 120 Eyeshadow Palette! I'm gonna quote Sarah's blog name and say: ''Look at them pretty colors!''

There are many gold, bronze, gunmetal shades, great blue ones and greens... Oh, I love it!

I bet you want to know about the quality. Here it goes: these eyeshadows are all really pigmented. There's just one problem. They don't want to stick to my eyeshadow brush. I tried them on and I could get the best color when I applied it with a sponge applicator. Brush just isn't working with these.

PROS:
* Packaging (palette comes in a fake leather case).
* Eyeshadows are really pigmented.
* Large range of colors.
* Price.

CONS:
* Strong scent (of fake leather and the shadows have this weird perfume scent that makes my head ache).
* Can't apply the eyeshadows properly with a brush (must use a sponge applicator).
* Price.

This is all I can say at this moment. I'll have to test them a couple of times before I can give you a better review. You might have noticed that I mentioned price in the both pros and cons. Here's the deal: I purchased this palette on Ebay for $2.66 + $7.23 for shipping (HERE's my listing). That's a total of $9.89 (converted 7.24). The price changed since then and it's now $42.66 + shipping (see listing HERE). Now that's a *huge* price difference.

Maybe they'll be cheaper again soon, who knows. Until then, here are a couple of swatches. I have only eyeshadows on my fingers, no base/primer.

So, what do you think of these swatches? Would you consider buying this palette?

Thanks for looking!

  1. Pretty!

    I don't think I would buy it though. These palettes all seem to have that strong scent, and it makes them seem so cheap. I had a palette that I aired out for days, which helped, but didn't eliminate the smell.

  2. Oooft, all of those colours would make my head implode! Perfumey smell and lack of brush-use-ability are both a big turn off though.

  3. ooooooooh! shiny! I really don't use eyeshadow anymore (it's an age thing for me) but back in the day? I'd have been ALL OVER THAT!!

  4. Not being able to use a brush would bother me as I don't have any sponge applicators, but for €7 or so I'd give this a go.

    Not a chance I'd buy it for the new price though

  6. I'd be interested in seeing a side-by-side comparison of application with a brush vs. with a sponge. Pretty colors though - I want one!

  7. Wow! That palette would be totally intimidating to me. LOL I can't wait to see what you do with those.

  8. I love the swatches; the colors practically 'beam!' But I'd rather use a brush and that price? What's up with that? I can deal with leather smells and the perfume shadows, but the price swap isn't cool at all.

  10. It looks so cute!
    And the colors are really pigmented!
    I remember I got one of these pallets for just one color and it was still worth it!

  14. @MonCerie: I hope it's a mistake.

    @Smaltoitaliano: Read what I said to MonCerie. =)

    @Tamara: Meni je všeč, ker ima toliko zlatih, bronz odtenkov, pa pigmentacija je tudi super, ampak vonj in nekompatibilnost s čopičem... Not good. Ne rečem, 7€ je vredna, več pa verjetno ne bi dala.

  16. Very pretty colours... a lot of cheaper metallic finish shadows have that problem for some reason (the sticking issue), it's probably something in the manufacturing.

  17. oh btw, you can still get it for a cheap prize

    i've bought mine here, and got the exact same as you, color wise, though the seller does note that the colors come random.

  19. They are quite pigmented!
    The scent thing freaks me out a little. I always wonder what kind of chemicals are in these kind of palletes.

    There is a wonderful array of colors indeed!
    I hope to see many make up posts from now on ;)
    Have you ever thought about making tutorials? Your looks are to die for!

  23. Dear Hihrida, does this palette include only pearl or frost eyeshadows? Is there any matte one?

    I'm looking for your post about about 88 matte palette, have you written it?

  24. @pchelka217: This palette consists of shimmery shades only. I haven't written a post about the 88 matte eyeshadow palette. Would you like me to?

  26. Hey there :) I see you're still using this palette for your looks so, looking into buying it, I've got a couple of questions about it, hope you don't mind..
    Have you ever had any trouble with your eyes or lid skin while using them?
    Did the smell go away and if it did, how long did it take?
    Have you figured out a way to apply them with a brush? And what's your technique with them, if it's not too much to ask? :)
    The looks you post are just gorgeous by the way! Loving each and every one of them :)

    1. Hey! I've never had any problems with this palette when it comes to my eyes or lids. But then again, I haven't used it that many times. The smell is still there, but it's not as strong/disturbing as it used to be. I realized I had to remove the upper layer of the eyeshadow and now I can apply them with a brush like any other eyeshadow. These eyeshadows have somewhat different structure than I'm used to: they appear moisty, it's really hard to describe, but I recommend you to try it, if you can get it for a good price.
