Glistened Up Royal

What do you get when you layer Essence Glisten Up over American Apparel Mount Royal?


You get this:


This is *the best* layering combo I've ever done (in my humble opinion). One coat of Essence over two coats of American Apparel and BOOM. I'm in love.


I wish my nails were longer. Then it would look even better. Seriously ladies, if you have the opportunity to get this little Essence fella - grab it with both hands. Don't look at it and put it back on the shelf like I did the first time I saw it. And the second time... Really. I'm gonna say it: if Nfu Oh polishes had a baby, this would be it. A baby boy! XD


Maybe I should layer another coat of Essence...

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

A little bit of make up, a little bit of nail polish, a piece of jewellery and here you have it! My look of the day. =)


Don't ask me which products I used on my eyes. I just slapped some color on (and it shows).


My most wanted American Apparel nail polish in Mount Royal. Oh how I love this color! I used 2 coats of it. And what's that in my hand? It's my Alchemy Gothic skull AKA The Alchemist. I *love* AG jewellery. It's pure awesome-sauce.


I never told you this, but sometimes I have a really hard time picking the photos I'm gonna publish. My maximum is 5 photos (because blogger only allows me to upload 5 photos at a time) and I also think it's a good number of photos per post. But which should I publish and which not? How do you decide? What's your maximum of photos per post (if you're a writer or reader)?


P.S: I spent all day playing with my photos. :/

Orofluido

I got this sample of Orofluido at my old hair dresser. She said it's a wonderful product with all kinds of oil and no silicone. I was thrilled to try it. And I did.


It smelled divine and it felt like... silicone. I know the difference between oil and silicone: I used to use Alfaparf Liquid Crystals for my hair but it was all silicone and we know silicone isn't too good for hair. I'm not saying it's bad (or is it?) but it certainly doesn't do any good. Yeah sure, it makes your hair 'oh so soft'... but for how long?

I checked the ingredients immediately after applying and there they were. Two first ingredients. Silicone base. Why, Orofluido? Why!? And there I have another reason for changing my hair dresser (if I don't count her catastrophic work the last time I was there). No silicone, huh? Yeah, right.


I've read a lot of good reviews of this Orofluido ''beauty elixir for hair''. Sure, it smells good and it makes your hair super soft. But I bet the ladies haven't been using it for a while and discovered their ends aren't as healthy anymore. I'm sticking with the cheapest and my favorite product: almond oil. It's actually sold as make-up remover, but if it's good for my face, it must be good for my hair. Cheap and it *works*. =)

Another Columbo Moment

I woke up really early this morning and then I couldn't fall back asleep. There was nothing on the TV, so I watched The Mentalist show on my computer (Season 1, Episode 5).

What kind of a nail polish addict would I be, if I hadn't noticed this cosmetics shot...


I crawl out of my bed and press pause. This looks familiar. But wait... What does the writing say? Eastbly... easthly... no, I know. It's Earthly! (They explained that later in the story, so my detective work wasn't that victorious.)
Now I start thinking. Why haven't I heard of this brand before. They make nail polish (which looked like Zoya from my bed) so I should be familiar with it. I google it. Nothing. I google it some more and find this Earthly Body site. The logo and the name is not the same, but the font and part of the name is. I decide to ask them. A very kind lady responded that they do not make nail polish but they do make all natural personal care products (including mineral makeup).

So, could it be? Could this be Zoya undercover? All the features are here...


If you have any knowledge about this ''Earthly Pure'' nail polish, let me know. I'll probably sleep better once I find out what the deal is. ;D

You Know It: 3 Tone Blue

I'm feeling kind of blue, so these lenses from You Know It are just perfect for a day like this. I'm not sure if these lenses are by EDIT or Funky Eyes: I ''ordered'' the EDIT ones, but I got these in Funky Eyes box. Still these look more like EDIT ones... I'm confused. The most important thing is that I got what I wanted, right? And I wanted 3 Tone Blue lenses.


I like these a bit more than I do my previous, Witches Eye ones. They're 3 toned and they look more natural because of that. It's still pretty obvious that I'm wearing contacts, but I don't mind because these are *gorgeous*.


These lenses are pretty comfortable and easy to use. Now tell me, who wouldn't want eye color like this? I love it! I haven't worn them in public yet, but that's just because I didn't go anywhere. I most certainly will wear them someday (they have a 90 days life span) and I'll let you know when I do.

You Know It: Witches Eye

I have something special for you today. I got the chance to review contact lenses from You Know It.

I've always wanted to try colored contact lenses, but I was to afraid of scratching my eyes out. =) Yeah, I have a weird phobia when it comes to my eyes. This is the main reason why I was so overwhelmed when I managed to put in my very first contact lense...

Here's what I got: 2 glass vials with contact lense in each and instructions in a nice (and very colorful) little box. These lenses are called Witches Eye by Funky Eyes.


Both my BF and my sister wear corrective contact lenses occasionally so I asked them for tips how to insert these babies. Well, it's not hard and there's also a 'How to' section on the You Know It website. A couple of minutes and voila... I managed to go from natural to Witches Eye! =) Of course, I had to add some make up (this could be useful for new users: you do your make up after you put your lenses in). ;D


I certainly wouldn't suggest these lenses for everyday wear, but they'd be perfect for Halloween or photo-shootings. I've never worn lenses before, so I can't compare them to other lenses, but I have to say these are quite comfortable. My eyes didn't get teary, it didn't hurt or burn. I really like the outcome, although it's a bit scary. But that's perfect for Halloween, no? =)

EDIT: I forgot about the polish. *blushes* I'm wearing Sally Hansen Fairy Teal topped with Essence Glisten Up.


I did a look with one lense only, because the other was torn (see the photo below). I contacted You Know It and they said it happens that some lenses get through the quality control, but don't worry if this happens to you - just take a photo of the sealed glass vial with the torn lense and you'll get a new one free of charge. I don't think it will happen anyway. I must have been very ''lucky'' to get a torn one. =)


So, if I could do it, you can do it too. If you're like me and want to try contact lenses but are afraid - don't be. It's really nothing scary (although you have to touch your eyes). You just make sure that you carefully read and follow the instructions.

Also: if you're a begginer like me and want to give it a go, you'll need three things - contact lenses, contact lens solution and contact lens storage case. That's it.

Hope this was at least half as fun for you as it was for me. And I have another lenses to show you...

Eyeko - Saucy

I won a giveaway on The Allamenta blog and got this two Eyeko nail polishes in Saucy and Rain.


Color drops are back! =)


I was really excited to try out Rain polish, but since my nails are really short right now, I decided to go with Saucy polish first. For naughty nails. =)


I've had the chance to try some of the other Eyeko nail polish shades and they were OK, but just mediocre. This one blew me away! It's completely opaque in one coat and the color is just too perfect for words. Hot, sexy and most definitely - saucy! The formula is a bit goopy though and it could use a drop of thinner and I'm not too mad about the brush either. Other than that - pure win!

I used two coats of polish (just to get the desired depth).

I never tried any of the Eyeko creams, so I wouldn't know how this one compares to the original Eyeko cream. It's basically a cream with silver micro shimmer. It's supposed to be a 3 in 1 cream: highligher, moisturizer and eye cream. Well, I don't know about moisturizer and eye cream, but it works wonderful as a highlighter.

This cream is really light and non-greasy. When you apply it, it looks kind of too silver and sparkly, but when you spread it and the cream sets... it looks great.

I wanted this one to be my new no. 1 highlighter, but it's not. Revlon's Skinlights is still on the first place, because it illuminates better. But (!) since Revlon SL is discontinued, this is a very good second choice. You will get 28 mL of this cream for £8.00 (9 € or $14), that's a good bargain, right?

1. Have you every felt so disapointed by a nailpolish that you wanted to throw I out of the window? And why?
Not really. My expectations in nail polish are never that high and I usually buy cheaper nail polish, so there's no need for such drastic measures. =) Though I do get disappointed sometimes.

2. What are your top 3 favorite nail polishes?
Seriously? Like 3 shades of nail polish by names? Do you want my head to explode? OK, let's see. I can name three shades that are really special and deserve to be in every nail polish junkie's stash... here they are: H&M - Blue My Mind, Claire's - Magic, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Croquet (all three were randomly chosen from my top 20 np shades).

3. What is your favorite online store?
Ebay. Sorry I can't be more specific, but there's nothing you can't find there.

4. Is there anything you'd like to share with us that you haven't told before?
I'm really a man! No no, I'm just Gaga-ing with you. =D There's nothing I'd like to add right now.

5. What is your favorite song at the moment?
One song keeps playing in my mind... because it was the last song I heard on YouTube and it's Love The Way You Lie by Eminem feat. Rihanna. I love the video, the song is OK and I guess it's *really* catchy. =) It's not my favorite, but I've had it in my head for more than a whole day and it deserves to be mentioned.

Essence - Glisten Up: Layered

You wanted it, you got it! Essence Glisten Up, layered over four different polishes:
* LA Girl Disco Brites in Vinyl Record
* China Glaze in Four Leaf Clover
* Ulta in Devious
* Wet n Wild in Black Creme

I layered 2 coats of Glisten Up over each (click the photo to enlarge it).

Using LA Girl in Vinyl Record gives you the look of the polish in the bottle. The green one doesn't have the best contrast between the polish base and flakies and it looks more subtle. I just love the way this polish looks over a deep purple creme. Who would have thought. It looks similar over black, but this purple base gives it kind of duochrome look. Very cool!


You can see how dull this polish looks by itself (3 coats, on the left). This is definitely a layering polish.

As Random As Possible

I don't know how this happened. Maybe it was my fault for not using my Nailtek Foundation lately, maybe it was because of all the ''soaking'' in the pool... My nails look horrible. Just horrible. I did a manicure, but I just don't wanna post them right now. I'll wait until they look decent enough. Until then, my other posts will have to do. Sorry.
