Illamasqua Throb Collection

Remember Illamasqua's Throb Collection for Valentine's Day of 2011? I bet you just pictured those gorgeous promo photos in your mind. Well, Illamasqua sent me goodies from the collection, but the parcel got lost in the mail and in the end, they got the package back to where it came from. They were kind enough to send it to me once more. Here's my (rather late) review of the nail polishes in Load and Throb and lipstick in Sangers. If you want to see my review of Scorn (black nail polish), you can see it HERE.

Let's start with the lightest and most innocent color from the collection. This is Load.

Illamasqua, Load, 3 coats

I thought this is a white nail polish, but it's actually yellow (although it's described as creamy white on Illamasqua's website). I'm not too crazy about this color, I can't wear yellow at all. On the other hand - if you're looking for a banana milkshake color, this is the one for you. The application wasn't the best. It was streaky and it took 3 coats to somewhat even it out. If you're not careful, it might take even more. It's hard for me to say it, but I was disappointed by this one (because of the streakiness). Too bad.

Load might have disappointed me, but Throb - WHOA! - it was love at first sight. I'm in love with this blood red creme and the application ... pure perfection.

Illamasqua, Throb, 1 coat

Yep, what you see on these photos is only 1 coat of Throb nail polish. One perfect coat of red awesomeness. I could apply a second one, but why would I? It already looks great. Darn. I think Throb just eliminated my previous favorite red polish (Nu Colour, Scarlet). This one is worth every penny (or cent). Classic red lovers: get it!!!

Last, but certainly not least, here's the lipstick in Sangers. Another blood red goodness from Throb Collection.

Ingredients: Octyldodecanol, Paraffinum Liquidum, Oleyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Candelilla Cera, Cera Carnauba, Cera Alba, Oxidized Polyethylene, Cera Microcristallina, Cetyl Alcohol, Polyethylene, Tocopherol, Parfum. May contain: Titanium Dioxide Cl 77891, Iron Oxides Cl 77491, Cl 77492, Cl 77499, Red 7 Cl 15850, Red 40 Lake Cl 16035, Blue 1 Lake Cl 42090, Red 22 Lake Cl 45380, Carmine Cl 75470, Red 36 Cl 12085, Manganese Violet Cl 77742, Copper/Bronze Powder Cl 77400, Yellow 5 Lake Cl 19140, Yellow 6 Lake Cl 15985, Red 28 Lake Cl 45410, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide, Mica.

This is one hot shade, don't you think? I love the shape of Illamasqua lipsticks, 'cause they make the application really easy. Well, as easy as it gets for a lipstic noob like me. I think the color is a pure hit and it would look good on almost anyone. And about the formula of the lipstick itself - it's quite long lasting and it can get your lips slightly (and I do mean just slightly) dry. I fix that with lipbalm under my lipstick. You can also try applying lipgloss over it to give it a sexy wet look. I wish I had the stones to wear it... every day. =)

Price: £13.50 for 15 mL nail polish and £15.50 for 4g lipstick.

Where to buy? Illamasqua online shop and stores which carry Illamasqua.

I strongly recommend you the Throb nail polish and Sangers lipstick. They're both great. And don't forget the Scorn nail polish too!

  4. I'm not to crazy about Load but Throb is amazing! I love reds like this. The lipstick looks gorgeous on you. I understand about getting the nerve to wear it everyday. I used to wear red lipstick all the time years ago. Then the nude lip came in and that took me a while to get into. Now It's hard to wear dark lipsticks. I do love them.
