Where to buy? ELF online store (UK, USA)

My eyelids are very oily. A few years back I wouldn't even wear eyeshadow because it creased like crazy. Then I heard of Urban Decay Primer Potion and started using eye shadow daily. Good eye primer is a must for me and since I've read a lot of good reviews about ELF Eyelid Primer, I decided to give it a shot. It's a lot cheaper than UDPP and if it's really that good, it can maybe replace it...

And so I tried it. I applied my make up like I usually do. I used cheap drugstore eyeshadow and Eyelid Primer as a base. I had my make up on for 7 hours. During that time I sweated, cried and did everything I normally do. Well, I don't normally cry, but that was just a ''bonus'' and a great opportunity to test this primer. ;) This is how my make up looked after 7 hours (in hot, hot weather).

Products used:
* ELF Eyelid Primer
* Vollare Quattro Eyeshadow
* ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Ash
* Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara

I have to say I'm impressed. The shadow did crease just a little, but it wasn't visible unless I closed my eyes completely and raised my brows. That happened with UDPP as well sometimes. So that's enough for me. I also gave Eyelid Primer to my sister, because I wanted a second opinion. She loves it and as I could see for myself, the eyeshadow stayed intact for more than 12 hours on her. Well done, ELF!

+ Works great.
+ Cheap.
+ Love the packaging (you can see the amount of product in the bottle).
+ Application style.

- Only available online (EU prices are much higher than US prices).
- It may crease a little (for those with extra oily lids, like me).

Do I recommend it? Yes, yes, YES! With this price, there's not a lot to loose. Give it a try!

*I bought this item myself, with my own money.

Thanks for looking!

  1. I love this too, did a comparison on my blog with Urban Decay Primer Potion and didn't see much difference, so amazing for the price :-) x

  2. I bought the Mineral Primer from their Studio Line and I have to say I'm impressed as well. Only think I hate - it doesn't make the color so vibrant but since I have the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk it no problem any more ;) Elf is a miracle - cheap and very high quality for the price! Love it!

  3. I have this primer as well. For some weird reason, though, I ended up using it under eyes. It works as a color corrector/light concealer for me.

  4. Waaa super, ravno mi bo zmanjkalo primerja. Oz morem prej se razrezat. Super in hvala ti za tole, bom narocila ob priliki! ^^

  5. @Melly: What about as a primer? Does it work for you?

  6. It does work well as a primer, all though I prefer different type of primer as this one I find doesn't hold the glitter of mineral eyeshadows as well.

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/58872256/pot-sticker-eyeshadow-primer I use this one. I would call it an inbetweener of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy and regular primer. It's tacky, but dry balm sort of way.

  7. Hot, hot, hot weather. I read you and I feel envious. Here we are in 'sunny' Spain, not sunny at all right now. And cold, terribly cold.

  8. Such a shame that the US site doesn't ship internationally :(.

  9. Thank you for this review. I have been looking for a good, very affordable eye primer for forever. I'll have to give it a whirl.

  10. I love this primer. It's what I use all the time.

  11. Wonderful, I'll have to pick this up next time I'm on the site. I resorted to creating my own primer due to costs, fitting this one in my overnight bag would be much more convenient.

  12. Great review, how does it compare to ELF Mineral primer?
