7 Deadly Sins in Beauty

I found this tag on The Purple Fairy Book blog. I think it's interesting and not completely useless. ;) If you wanna do this tag as well, be my guest. Just make sure you tell me about it, so I can read it as well.

GREED: YOUR CHEAPEST BEAUTY PRODUCT

Almost everything I buy is cheap. I don't have a lot of money to spend and I'm OK with that. I don't believe that expensive products are neccessarily better than cheaper ones or that you have to spend a large amount of money to look good. I always make sure to check ingredients, search for reviews and other info on the product before buying it. Well, sometimes I buy something without checking it out first, but it's never an expensive product. Plus - not believing everything commercials say will save you a lot of money. That's why I don't need every new product out there, just because it will (according to the ads) make my lips so much fuller and my lashes so much longer. One of the cheap beauty products I love is definitely Essence Colour & Go nail polish. For only 1,49 € per bottle, these polishes rock!

WRATH: WHICH BEAUTY PRODUCT MADE YOU SEE RED?

It was definitely the hair color that didn't cover the roots. I like to try different hair color brands (thanks to being cheap) instead of sticking to what I know works for me. I do this mistake often, because there's always something on those damn hair color boxes that gets my attention. The last one that disappointed me was Ombia hair color, there are some other brands as well but I can't think of the brand and line at the moment. Yes, there's nothing worse than buying a hair color, applying it for half an hour, wait for another half an hour ... waste a gallon of water for rinsing and then realizing it didn't even cover the roots. My hair is medium brown and I've been dyeing it dark brown for years. Can you imagine the lighter roots? Horrible. Especially to see them after you color your hair. I've said this many times before: ''From now on, I'll only buy Schwarzkopf Palette hair color in Dark Brown.'' Hope I'll stick to it from now on. =)

GLUTTONY: WHAT IS THE YUMMIEST PRODUCT YOU EVER TRIED?

Tigi and Lush have the yummiest products ever! I bought Tigi Bead Head Brunette Goddess shampoo and conditioner for my mother a couple of years ago and I had soon wished it got it for myself as well. But that's me - I'm ''not worthy'' of that expensive product, so I wouldn't buy it for myself. Anyways - Brunette Goddess smells like caramel with sunshine on top of it. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's heavenly. My mother kindly offered me to try BG and it was amazing. It made the whole hair washing experience so much better. =) The other yummy products were basically all the Lush products I've tried so far. If you've been to a Lush store before, you know what I'm talking about. I can not leave the store before sniffing everything and until my head starts to hurt and my nose starts to bleed. Well, not really, but I'm really into sniffing Lush stuff.

SLOTH: WHICH BEAUTY ROUTINE DO YOU REGULARLY SKIP BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED?

Facial peeling. I should do it every week, but ... I guess I'm lazy. The other, not so essential, but still somewhat important is the use of face masks. I just can't find the energy to apply it and scare the living s*it out of everyone I meet during this masquerade. Or at least get an LOL here or there. I guess I'm doing fine without the masks as well. Kind of.

PRIDE: WHICH BEAUTY PRODUCT MAKES YOU (OVERLY) SELF CONFIDENT?

False eyelashes. That's why I don't wear them in public. Don't get me wrong now - I'm talking about the good kind of false eyelashes: those that aren't visible from the other side of the road. They do make my eyes look much better/prettier instantly, but I don't have enough confidence to walk around with them. It's more likely the falsies would be wearing me instead of me wearing them.

LUST: WHAT BEAUTY HABIT OR PRODUCT IS AN INSTANT SEX-APPEAL HIT FOR YOU?

There's no beauty habit that would make me hot for somebody - it's much more than just about appearance. But if I have to choose, I'd say perfume/scent. It can either be a big turn off or a turn on for me. I can't really say which perfumes are the good/bad ones - it all depends on the person who wears it and the way it works with his/her natural body scent. One of the best scents I've smelled on a man was an Old Spice deodorant in Original. But it was only that good on that one guy.

ENVY: WHAT IS THE BEAUTY PRODUCT YOU'D LIKE TO AFFORD ONE DAY?

Creme de la Mer. Need I say more? It's supposed to be a miracle in a jar. And in case you're wondering how much does a miracle cost: $250 for 2 ounces. Yep. Case closed.

  5. That was an interesting post! I agree with you 100% about the falsies and the perfume. When I wear falsies outside, my friends tell me that I make an Adriana Lima face, which is not a good look if you really don't look like Adriana Lima. And I don't. And few things make me want to leap on a random stranger man, but a really good smelling cologne is one of them.

  6. Love the post idea! I'm the same way about face masks. Recently I had to do an assignment on the 7 deadly sins. I've never thought to connect them to beauty! If I had, that assignment would have been a lot more fun! :)

  7. It made me sad to read that you feel you don't deserve the best products that you can afford. You do need to treat yourself to some BedHead. If it smells that delicious and does wonders for your hair you need to buy it. Your gorgeous and those lashes would really make your eyes look more amazing. Your a beautiful, sweet woman and you should have the confidence to rock those lashes! I agree about fragrance. On certain people it smells amazing. I also smelled Old Spice on a guy and it was fantastic. I never liked it before. It smelled like an expensive fragrance. Just must be body chemistry. I'd love to be able to afford LaMer also. I hope it does live up to it's hype.

  8. Hey, thank you for picking up my tag, that's very nice. It's fun to read, but I agree with Lucy, you should treat yourself to BedHead, you deserve it! As for LUSH, I can only agree with you, they're like candy in a jar!!

  9. @Danny: You're welcome. =) I find Tigi products sooooo irresistable when it comes to scent. I have their Superficial straightening liquid and it smells like Strawberries and Lemon. =)

@ChaosButterfly: Hahaha, now I wanna see your Adriana Lima face. XD

@Katie: Everything is more fun when you add beauty to it. =D

@Lucy: I just don't want to spend all that money on me, just because the product smells nice. I need anti dandruff shampoo and a heavy duty conditioner for my hair. That amount of money, just for the sake of the scent, is too much for me. =) But now I know I'm worth it. I'm just too cheap to buy it. Heehee

@Fairy Lelie: I wouldn't even know about it if it wasn't for your blog. =) Lush.... *drool*

  12. This was an interesting post to read! I definitely agree about the perfume/scent. I had always wanted to try Creme de la Mer, before I started actually researching what the ingredients were. I found some interesting points on this post - http://www.chicandgreendaily.com/2009/05/whats-in-it-wednesday-is-it-creme-de-la.html
Sorry to post a link, I just thought you may find it interesting.
