DrogerieMarkt stores in Slovenia recently started selling Depend nail polishes. Isn't that great? Now we can get three completely different nail polish brands here. *sarcasm off* The best part is they didn't turn up the prices to high heavens. A bottle of regular polish costs €1.70 and cracking polish is €2.10. To be completely honest, I wouldn't pay more for a tiny 5mL bottle anyway.

Essence, Galactic Black, 2 coats + Depend, Cracked Effect, Mint Green (5011), 1 coat

I've tried a couple of different cracking nail polishes since the trend came back to life, but no other polish impressed me as much as this one. It's opaque, it's easy to appy, it cracks the way it's supposed to. And you don't need to stand on your lashes and kill a bat to get an effect you see on the photos. One coat and the polish will do the rest. It's really easy to use. Not like some other polishes were you have to almost measure the amount of polish on the brush and drying time of the base color.

I'm lame to get so excited over a crackle, but it actually inspired me to do some eye make up as well. It's not a very good one (not like it needed much inspiration anyway), but I kind of dig it. For a photoshot, not for going out in public with it. I'm too shy for that. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion for a base, 88 Matte Eyeshadow Palette and Essence Black Mania Mascara. Yep, three products only.

What do you think of cracking polishes? Should they extinct by now?
Thanks for looking and commenting!

This crackle color is so cool!!
ReplyDeleteI really love it!
And your make up is so great!!
Jaz se še vedno ne morem navaditi na te crackle lake ... not my thing, I guess. Očesni make up je pa super, na tvojem mestu bi ga takoj nosila, ne bodi tako sramežljiva ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great colour! I would love to have that one and try it over a baby pink. =)
ReplyDeleteKrekli me puščajo hladno, zato pa sem se stopila ob mejkapu. Gorđz! <3
ReplyDeleteNi me sram priznati: OBOŽUJEM jih! :D
ReplyDeleteThis look is absolutely amazing! I love your photos and how you're able to capture all the colours and details!
ReplyDelete@rock-or-not: Thank you!
ReplyDelete@Sana: Tudi ''my thing'' niso bili, potem me je pa nekako povleklo. =D Hvala!
@LaLadyBunny: Then you're much more daring than I am. I didn't think of layering it over pink, but I bet it would look really fun.
@Kvava Meri: Oooo, hvala! :*
@purple_rain: Čestitke za pogum. Hehehe... Meni so tudi všeč. Še posebej tale kombinacija, ki me spominja na plazilce.
@EyeGraffiti: Thank you so much! =)
i love ur cracke polish results..and eye makeup is awesomeakeup is awesome
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really cool (DM in Germany doesn't sell this polish, so at least one advantage for you if that may comfort you). And I'm in love with the eye make up you did. Such a shame you're too shy to wear it "in public" because it's really pretty (but I can understand you, I wouldn't neither).
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, a new header! It looks good, but may I be honest? (Of course, it's just one opinion within thousands possible.) I like the inclination for a photo, but not really for a header. Or maybe just not that extreme. But again, only my humble opinion. And the colors are just great. =)
Wow... too bad the bottle is rather small, but the color is irresistable! Gorgeous! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour new layout is gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteEmu and nails are really beautiful. A pity that you wouldn't go out like that!
I like crackle polishes, but I think I have enough... -_-
wow, so beautiful! I love the polish and the makeup =)
ReplyDeleteI am speechless! WOW!! <3
ReplyDeleteWow, I love you eye make-up! My fav colours and a great combo with a crackle :>
ReplyDeleteLove the 80's metal stuff (actually I love metal from 90's, 00's and 10's too ;oP)
It's official: I am re-excited about crackles after seeing this post! It's just that awesome! I love that color, I love that mani, and I love that eye look! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! <3
ReplyDeleteI got a few Depend crackles in Tallin for 1.50€, but I think that was a special release price.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I don't like too much is how the brush feels heavier after doing a few nails, as the polish begins to dry on it.
Btw, gorgeous eye makeup.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't go out with that look, I love it, green shade rocks!
ReplyDeleteI love how this one cracks because the cracks are so numerous and fine. If you put a gold polish under it, it would look like a turquoise stone! That would look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think crackles are great BUT polish companies should have done a range of colours upfront in the first place because now it just feels like they're dragging it out. And trends are all about being new and fresh.
ReplyDeleteI like this green one because that's something novel and withyour eye makeup the whole look is really great. But it doesn't get me totally excited like duochromes, glitters and holos. I just hope these new magnetic polishes don't get the same slow uptake by suppliers. The customer base and demand is there for exciting products so why don't they just give us our damn polishes! Lol
@Nihrida: Maybe you're right and "funny" is the right word.Since those Crackles appeared I'm obsessed with combing them to kinda weird looking little nail desasters ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a green eyed monster over your green eyeshadow. =)
ReplyDeletehhhuuudddoooo :)
ReplyDelete@sahar awan: Thank you!
ReplyDelete@mad.Âme: Thank you! I don't usually wear too colorful make up in real life. It just doesn't fit in. Of course you can be honest with me. We all have different taste and it's your right to have an opinion. The inclination is quite strong, but I think it gives a certain dynamics to the blog appearance. That's my view on it and I'm OK with it for now. =)
@Maki: Thank you!
@Nanethiel: Thanks! =)
@Sara.H: Thank you so much, honey! :*
@Pani Skeffington: Yep, music from the 80's is pretty cool, but it always depends on which genre you're thinking of. ;)
@idrinknailpolish: Heehee, glad to have awaken your excitement for crackles. And thank you!
@marox79: I didn't experience the brush feeling heavier, but maybe I just didn't pay attention. Thanks!
@Biberlee: I think it would be OK for a carnival, not an everyday look... =) Thank you!
@elbee: Thanks for the suggestion. I should really try it over gold... Darn I have so many things to try out, I'm drowning in ideas. =)
@Lianne: Yep, I agree with you. But you know that nail polish maniacs will buy anything, may it be new and fresh or old and dusty. =) It's still better than those Essence holos, which aren't really holos and are even barely duochromes. Maybe the costs for creating polishes like these (crackles, duochromes, holos, magnetic...) are too high and they're scared for their profit. Who knows...
@sandryca: Hvala! =)
You're so right! This is unlike any other crackle I have seen. It actually...wait for it...CRACKLES! LOL. This is great and your eye makeup is to dieeee forrr!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI love how it kind of matches your eyes!
ReplyDelete<3
Lindo cracke, lindas unhas e linda make-up.
ReplyDeletetotally amazing how you managed to match the eyes and nails so well. A hit! Though I've never gotten the biggest interest in cracking nails, don't know why...
ReplyDeleteAnd I also want to say thanks for such kind comments! *bow*
Hi! Really like this one! Crackle polish doesn't exist in France at all, at least I didn't see it :( But it gives me some idea to try :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I really appreciate your blog, great job!
Best wishes
ReplyDeleteooh i love this! and the matching makeup, looks so good, like its for a makeup ad! <3
ReplyDeleteOooo, make up je fantastičen!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove love love the eyes! As for crackle, I'm not sure I'll get sick of it anytime soon. Especially since I can find it in so many colors! Thanks for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteYeah I think they are over now.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous, I love it, want it.
Me kar malce živcira....
I love your new header!
ReplyDeleteI really don't like crackles so I haven't got on the wagon at all :-)
ReplyDeleteBut three brands? I must say that you can get more than that i Sweden, unfortunately many of them only comes in elevety shades of pink and others are terribly overpriced.
I'd skip all the other brands if I could only have essence and Catrice *sighs longingly*
This is definitely a day look, at least for me :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing, I love the colors.
I'm not tired of seeing crackles. That's the best crackle I've seen. I like it because it's tiny crackles. Pretty shade also. Your eye makeup is always so beautiful. Gorgeous as your new header picture.
ReplyDeletecrackle ja fantastičan, još nisam vidjela nijedan ovakve boje :-D
ReplyDeletea make up... mislim da sam ti već rekla da ti zelena sjenila ludnica stoje, naročito ove jake boje... na tvom mjestu ne bih se sramila nositi ih vani ;-D
Love how you match the eye makeup with the mani! gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteyou're freaking gorgeous, I can't even take it. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, both the mani and eye make up are so pretty. I think we're going to get Essence polish here in America soon...It might already be available but not in drug store chains where I live in New York
