Guppy Sanding Fruit Extract Nail Polish in #17

Not so long ago I bought this nail polish on Ebay. I didn't really know what I was buying, but the photo of it looked promising. Besides, for a couple of bucks, it's not a disaster if it turns out it sucks.

Guppy, Sanding Fruit Extract in #17, 3 coats

First of all: I'm confused about the name. If you're gonna search Ebay for this polish, you won't find it as a Guppy polish. You gotta look for CUDDV. I'm pretty sure I can read, so I'm gonna wing it and call it Guppy anyway.

The name isn't really that important when it comes to nail polish. The most important thing is the content of the bottle. Let's see. This polish is full of silver glitter in purple base. It's pretty much opaque in three coats. Once it dries, it turns to matte finish which does remind me of sand paper, so maybe that's where it got the name. Everything is pretty much OK, the formula is good, so is the application and drying time. The only thing that really bothers me is the smell of it. This polish stinks! It reminded me of the stinky Kleancolor polishes. The smell is so bad, it doesn't only bother my nose, but my throat as well. Horrible!

I really don't understand this Engrish thing. Why use English, if you can't even spell 6 words right? At least I think it's supposed to be fruit extract, but who knows. Based on the smell, that fruit must be rotten anyway.

As I mentioned above, I got this polish on Ebay for $2.75. Search for ''cuddv'' if you want it, but consider yourself warned.

Would you try your luck with this one?

Thanks for looking!

  1. It does look very pretty. I have also bought polishes from ebay (stinky ones 2). As long as I can polish my nail near a open window I don't have a problem.

  2. Meni je ful všeč, ampak če smrdi ogabno, bo že kaj vzroka v slabih sestavinah :( Se ga bom raje izognila, čeprav je kar posebnež :)

  3. It looks so pretty but I think the smell would put me off. I won't buy any more Kleancolors because of their smell. They're great shades but the constant headache due to the fumes isn't worth it.

  4. This polish actually looks really good! I wasn't expcting that finish when I saw the 1st picture of the bottle but I like the "roughness" of it if you know what I mean!

  7. If they cannot spell fruit right, it makes you wonder what on earth their polishes have.

  8. After I discover 3Free nail polish and I love them (china glaze, LA Colors, OPI) I almost didnt use nail polish produced at my country (Brazil) only some new holo releases and flakies.
Seems interesting BUT when you said bad smell I think: its probably not 3 free.

  10. Thats what I'd call a packaging-fail! And I don't use the word fail lightly.

  15. Smells don't bother me as much as other. I just put on the fan and open a window. I would definitely try this color. It's gorgeous!

  16. Gorgeous polish. Shame it bothers you. I've seen sanded fruit. Fresh fruit is covered in white sugar and looks so pretty. I think they use egg white to have it stick. That's what I thought of when I saw the polish.
