I Feel Immortal

Before I start with anything else, I want to let you know about the Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tool giveaway, which is now closed. There was a total of 150 entries. I picked a winner with the help of Random Number Generator and the winning number is #44. And the entry with that number was from...

CucumPear

Congrats! And to the others: better luck next time...

My reader Tina sent me this amazing ArtDeco Mineral Eyeshadow in Graphite. She said she didn't use it and that's why she kindly gave it to me. Thank you so much, Tina!

I wanted to do a simple look with it and Tarja's make up was my inspiration.

I'm not too happy with the outcome, but that doesn't change the fact I love this eyeshadow. It's perfect and I love wearing greys on my eyes.

Products used:
* Urban Decay Primer Potion
* NYX Eye Pencil in Milk (inner corner)
* Artdeco Mineral Eyeshadow in Graphite (outer corner, crease, lower eyelid)
* Everyday Minerals in Floating Feathers (inner corner)
* Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Acid (black; lower lashline)
* Essence Black Mania Eye Pencil
* Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara

I tried to photography my make up using my Nikon D3000, but I'm not completely sure it's better than my old photos. Nikon detects depth way better than my Traveler camera and makes photos crisp and blurry at the same time. What do you think?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  6. Nice photos, I don't see that it's blurry, but bearing in mind what a perfectionist you are...I'd say you go with how you feel.

    The look came out great, I would just define eyebrows a bit.

  7. I think you did a very good job with the look, and even so that eye make up was nothing but great!
    The shadow really appealed to me, so if you ever get tired of it, I could be its keeper ;)

  10. I personally love this makeup look that you did!! it looks lovely and really wearable for everyday. I see what you mean about the depth, your inner corner is a tad out of focus, but I think the rest of the photo looks really good and it showcases the look very well! Go with what you're comfortable! :)

  11. Likely your new camera has more and better options than your old camera. The bad news is that it takes a while to learn it all, the good news is you can fix this! If you want pictures like this to be sharp and focused all over, you need to change the Aperture setting: Set the camera to A mode on the mode dial, and use the command dial (the little wheel) to change the F value. Set it to F8 (or an even higher number) and see if that gets you better results!

    Love your blog, keep it up!

  13. That grey looks really good on you!
    I also like the nikon photos much more, they might not be perfect (yet), but I'm sure they'll be absolutely stunning if you play with your camera a bit more :)
    If you want the whole image to be sharp, try setting a smaller aperture stop (=larger f number) for a larger depth of field.
    However, I like them the way they are, exept you should maybe set the focus on your pupil (or increase the DOF just a little bit), your eye looks a bit 'dead' on the first picture.

  14. Nice look, IMO the pictures are really sharp, maybe just pupil is a little blurred, you mean that?

  20. Your eye makeup looks stunning. I like the depth of color you achieved. Your photos look so crisp. I haven't the faintest idea how to achieve a better picture. I know your fellow bloggers are a fountain of information.

  21. Thank you for your kind comments, ladies!

    @sparkle*: Uporabljam tisti objektiv, ki je bil v kompletu s fotoaparatom: AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55 mm.

    @Biberlee: My brows are out of control!!! =D

    @You Nailed It!: It's because I used my Nikon camera. It captures the depth way better, hence rounder eyes.

    @Tone: Thank you for your tip! I tried it and it's still out of focus somewhere. It's better though, but not completely. I just need to get a hang of this new baby.

    @lena: Yep, I tried the higher f value and it's kind of hard to photograph your own make up - setting the focus directly on my pupil. It's impossible to be honest. =D Thanks for the tip!

    @maisenzasmalto: Yep, that's what I meant. And the corner of the eye is blurred. I'll keep playing with my camera and hope to get it right. =)

  22. Ah, that's pretty. I have to say I always adore your eye make-up skills. Really. I sometimes try to make one (with maximum two shades for I'm a beginner) but it always turns out to... bullshit. And yours are just perfect, even in close-up.

    Concerning your camera problems: I can't give you a concrete advise, but I think it's just helpful to play with it, really get to know your camera. That's at least my way, "technicians" will find out faster than me, but I'm not very into thinking how to technically fix something. Um, I hope this is understandable.
