Guppy Sanding Fruit Extract Nail Polish in #08

Remember my stinky manicure from a couple of days ago - the Guppy Sanding Fruit Extract #18 one? Well, I bought two of the ''sanding'' polishes and I received the second one on Friday. It was supposed to be a red shade, but as it turned out, it's orange. Based on the Wikipedia list of colors, it comes closest to Vermilion (or Persian Red).

I don't like orange. It's one of my least favorite colors, right after yellow, which I detest the most. Well, maybe detest is too strong word. I like all colors, I just don't like to wear them all. But (there must be a but) this one totally convinced me. I'm actually wearing it as a full mani now. =)

The application of this one was  really easy. It's more opaque than #17 and it only needs two coats. It dries super fast and turns to gritty matte surface. It's not a finish anyone would like, but I dig it because it's new and original. I haven't seen finish like this with any other nail polish. You can always make it glossier by applying a top coat. And that's exactly what I did. I used Essence Nail Art Sealing Top Coat.

Once the top coat is applied, the color of this polish comes to life even more. It reminds me of Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Berber. The funny thing is that smell didn't bother me at all with this shade. Maybe I just got used to it... No, really. This one doesn't smell even half as bad as the #17 shade.

I got this polish on Ebay for $2.47.

What do you think about this shade?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  2. @rock-or-not: Sheer? Not at all. These were only two coats.

  3. When you swatched #17 the other day, I really liked the grit in it so I went straight on Ebay to get one but lost the bid :( I have to get my hands on one of these guppy's, I love how rough they look on the surface!

  6. I like this polish! However, I think the original finish is cuter.

  7. @Nail Stories: I think you can buy them for 3.55 if you really want them. =) You don't have to wait for the auction to end.

@Pamsan: It really is something special. =)

  8. I feel the same way as you do about orange. I do love to use it to decorate for the Fall. I had an orange shade on the other day. I was a Milani polish in a mango shade. This is really pretty. I like the finish. I don't own any orange clothing. Just makes me feel weird to wear it.
