JQ Nail Polish

I got two new polishes. I said to myself I'm gonna stop buying new bottles until I try at least half of the untried ones. *sigh* I have no power over myself.

I got my first JQ polishes, y'all! =) Their bottles resemble the Nfu Oh and Scandal bottles, don't they?

Can I be honest with you? I don't like them. Well, I know I don't like one of them and I'm not completely sure about the other one. They stink (literally) like most of the Ebay polishes I've bought lately but that's not the main problem... Let's see the color swatches first.

I don't know what was I thinking about when I ordered the multi glitter JQ polish #152. One thing's for sure though: if the photos on Ebay were half as good as my color drops, I wouldn't order it in the first place. I'm not saying my photos are all that, I'm just saying that I would appreciate if the sellers actually cared about presenting the item as it is. Forget about the 'color may vary due to monitor settings'. Sometimes you can't even tell what color family a certain polish belongs too. Meh, never mind.

Here's one coat of JQ nail polish in number 152 applied over (from pointer to pinkie):
* Catrice I'm a Star
* Eyeko Saucy Polish
* Essence Hard to Resist
* Wet n Wild Black Creme

Yep, I don't like this one...

And this is the other one in number 150, applied over Wet n Wild Black Creme.

While #152 is a complete miss for me, I actually like the way #150 looks over black. What I don't like is the application. The clear base of this polish is goopy and the glitter is very hard to apply. I used one coat of 150 on pinkie and two for my pointer fingernail. And I had to 'fish' for the glitter too. This is just too much for me. All that trouble over a manicure... The polishes have a long drying time too. And they stink. On the good side, they do have flat brushes. But they're quite bushy, so I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. To be honest, I'm confused by these polishes. If anyone wants to be a foster parent to the 152 one, let me know in the comments.

EDIT [19th Oct, 2011] All the ladies that mentioned they want to offer a new home to the 152 nail polish, were included in a draw. The random number generator picked Jenna. She replied to my e-mail, so the polish will soon go to it's new home in Finland. =)

Price: £2.35

Where to buy? Ebay (search for glitter nail polish and you shall find it).

What do you think of these?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  1. I really like 152! It's a pretty hideous shade in the bottle but I'm basically in love with anything glitter, atrocious or not. Especially multicolored chunky glitters. The bottles are cute too but I'm sure the smell isn't. x_x

  2. I really like how the red one looks over black as well! Very pretty :)

  3. I rather like them. I have several of the Scandal polishes and they do stink! Toxic as hell!!!

  4. I can't believe how much they look like Nfu Oh! They don't make me want to buy them though. Nfu Oh applies so much better than those. In one coat you get the effect that it looks like at least 3 of these would need.

  6. I actually LOVE both of these! I love #152 over the Catrice. The colors stand out well. I'd love to be a foster parent to #152. ;-) #150 looks great over black. I'm a sucker for red glitter. :-)

  7. Hi! I am actually loving both polishes, oddly enough! I think that 152 is blingy enough for someone like me, who isn't huge on the whole 'glitter vomit' thing ;) Not to say I don't like lotsa glitter, but sometimes, it is just too much for me lol I would love to swap you for it, if I have, or can get, something you want :)

  8. Hmm.. I like them both but the application seems worrisome. That said, I would be a willing foster parent haha :)

  9. I love both of them! and the bottles are to die for. Would love it if you could send #152 my way but Im in US, Im guessing shipping would be an arm and a leg, maybe an eye too lol.

  10. I think that 'resembling' Nfu Oh bottles doesn't quite cover it, lol. But I was attracted to the shininess!

  11. Too bad you didn't like them :/ I've been wanting some Nfu-Ohs flakies and holos for a long time. And not only because the bottle is so cute ;)

  12. is the 152 that bad? i honestly wouldn't mind trying it! the 150 looks better though(: or maybe i just like the bottle heh.

  13. Darn! #152 looks so promising in the bottle and didn't really have as well of a coverage range once it was on your nails. Bummer. #150 looks really nice over black though. ^_^

  14. They look exactly like the Nfu Oh Bottles *.*

  15. Oh my god, they are gorgeous!!

  16. The polishes didn't do anything for me, but I sure do love those bottles!

  17. I actually like 152 over red and black, looks kind of festive

  18. I think they both look cool over black, however, I know what you mean about applying this type of hex glitter. It's like you have to position it precisely on the nail for it to stay! I would be pretty bummed about drying time as well!

  19. They look so great!!
    And I love the bottles!

  20. Have you tried 150 over a red shimmer? That should be nice.
    For the 152, I don't like these 3 colors togheter and it looks better in the bottle than on the nails...

  22. The bottles are SO beautiful! (I don't care if the design is "stolen") but the polishes itself are really not my cup of tea as I don't like glitter (yet?). Still the red one over black looks quite ok to me.
    I feel sorry for your bad buy - but maybe you could give them away to someone who likes this kind of polish. Then it would have at least made s.o. else happy.

  23. They've got beautiful bottles and look great on nails :))

  24. I don´t like the copied bottles...

  25. I really dislike #152... it's just not up my alley, it's too...well...weird.
    on the other hand, #150 reminds me of Kleancolor Red hot, which has been on my "I want this so baaad :D" list for a while now. =)

  26. Oooh I actually LOVE both polishes, though your description reminds me of Kleancolor glitters! Do you mind sharing a link to the seller of these JQ polishes? I already searched for 'glitter nail polish' on Ebay but couldn't find it!

  27. I like the red one over black. It's always a good combo. The colorful one (or "clown vomit" as I call them) is too colorful for me. Just too many colours packed in one glitter bomb. Pity the glitter is so scarce, the red one has potential.

  28. I'd keep them just for the beauty of the bottles' sake. I cannot find them on Ebay, though, could you give me a link?

  29. I love glitter but I'm not crazy about the combination of 152. They look fine layered. I guess you never know for sure what your really going to get. You have to take a chance.

  30. Joj, kakšen "clown vomit", kot je rekla Ulmiel za #152. Škoda, da si prejela nekaj drugega kot, kar si plačala. :(
    #150 pa ni tako slab.

  31. First of all, the bottles look so awesome! The nail polish is cool as can be! I've gotta find the brand and give myself a mani-pedi!

  32. I actually quite like the look of #152.
