Better Than Any Foundation: Skin79 Super Plus BB Cream (Hot Pink)

I bought this product long, long time ago on Ebay and I think I've used it enough times to give you a relevant review. I really want to tell you about it, because I absolutely love it. Here it is, the Skin79 Super Plus BB Cream, hot pink edition.

What's a BB cream?
- BB is an abbrevation for beblesh (blemish) balm.
- It was originally formulated in Germany and used by the laser surgery patients to protect and soothe their sensitive skin while providing light coverage.
- BB creams come in different formulations and have different properties (skin brightening, anti wrinkle, sun block, moisturizing, foundation...).
- BB creams have been named 'the secret of the Korean actresses'.

Skin79 Super Plus Beblesh Balm (hot pink) has a triple function:
* whitening (adenosine and arbutin)
* UV protecting (SPF25; UVA and UVB protection)
* wrinkles improvement (brighter and more elastic skin)

Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Isopropyl Palmitate, Talc, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Arbutin, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Sulfate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Adenosine, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Madecassoside, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Water, Triclosan, Ceramide 3, Cholesterol, Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Cornus Officinalis Fruit Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract, Schizandra Chinensis Fruit Extract, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Trihydroxystearin, Glycosyl Trehalose, Aluminum Hydroxide, Aluminum Stearate, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Methicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ubiquinone, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Phytic Acid, BHT, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Iron Oxides.

What does this BB cream do?
- Osmopur ingredient (mix of sunflower, rice bran and ivy extracts) protects skin from various harmful conditions.
- Phyto Complex moisturizes and soothes skin.
- Excellent cover function.
- Corrects different skin tones naturally.
- Fine and soft texture is great for skin adhesion and sebum control.
- Makes your skin light, soft and dry all day, without it going gooey.

I used a very small amount of Hot Pink BB cream on the back of my hand for swatching purposes.

+ No troubles with finding the right shade for your skin tone.
+ Easy application.
+ Doesn't accent the pores.
+ Doesn't feel heavy on your skin. It actually feels nice.
+ Doesn't rub off as much as a regular foundation.
+ A little product goes a long way.
+ Buildable coverage and natural results.
+ Doesn't make my skin look oily after a couple of hours.

- None!

You know I don't use foundation a lot. I don't want to and to be honest, I don't think I need to. My skin isn't in such a bad condition I'd have to keep it covered at all times, but I do have coloration problems - redness caused by cold weather. I want a foundation that would give me light to medium coverage and would make my skin look better and not worse by sitting into my pores and making me look 10 years older. I've tried Vichy Aera Teint and Revlon ColorStay with SoftFlex foundations, but they can't compare to Skin79 Super Plus BB Cream. This one is so much easier to use. Application is a lot easier but the fact I don't have to search for the right shade is one of most important pros for me. This cream comes in a light neutral ashy tone, so I think you can't really go wrong if you're light to medium toned. In some way, this cream does look like a tinted moisturizer, but again - nothing I've tried so far. It does basically everything it promises. I love this product and I doubt I'll buy myself another foundation anytime soon. I highly recommend it!

Where to buy?
I got this BB cream on Ebay (well, of course) for ~15 USD for 40g.

Have you tried any BB cream yet? If so, what do you think about it?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  1. I am going back and forth on BB creams. I have read and heard so many great things about them. I am just so resistant to change when it comes to foundation. I am tempted, tho. :)

  2. Jaz tudi že dolgo časa razmišljam o nakupu tele BB kreme, je zelo pohvaljena..
    P.S.: Obožujem nov header! <3

  3. I have some dry patches on my skin, from time to time, especially in winter and during the heating season, so I'm wondering if this thing would hide it or make them more visible..?

  4. @Ice Queen: Have you actually used a BB cream before? If so, which one?

@moonchild: Meni je res všeč, boljša kot katerikoli puder. Pa še SPF ima... zmaga. Hvala!

@rainscience: I have the same problem. I get dry patches around my nose and between my brows... Peeling + moisturizing my skin has done wonders. This BB cream doesn't make the patches look worse, like some other foundations I've tried. As I said, it's the best thing I've tried so far.

  5. I-ve tried it in the sample size. Unfortunately it's too pink and too grey for my yellow undertone. Have you ever used any other bb creams?

  6. @pchelka217: I tried the one from Illamasqua, but that's still more like a foundation to me. I like this one way better.

  7. I'm using Missha PC13 and I am satisfied, but only 20ml is waaaay too little.
This one looks a bit grey, does your face look ashy right after you apply it?

  8. @Biberlee: That's one of the reasons why I love it. It's not orange-y or yellowish... it goes great with my cool skin tone and it doesn't make me look ashy. Not if I apply it properly.

  9. I've been using Etude House's BB Magic Cream for oily skin since July or so and I really like it, specially during the cold days, when my combination + sensitive skin suffers the most. Now it still works, but due to the heat I must powder a wee bit after a couple of hours. The other one I tried is Palgantong Sunny BB Cream, which is not so good for combo/oily skin, but it's not bad at all and my kit came with a loose powder that does the finishing touch wonderfully. I'm still tempted to try Skin Food's in Sake Pore for oily skin and now this Skin 79... :D Ok, I'm addicted to BB creams.

  10. Interesting.. I'm now testing one BB from Missha, Vita Matte, and I still can't understand if I like it or not. What I know is that it feels better in winter. I wanted to ask you if you have tried any other BB's but you already answered above :)

  11. Super ocena! Tudi jaz se navdušujem nad BB kremami, še posebej azijskimi, zato sem bila današnje ocene zelo vesela. :)

  12. I love BB Creams!!! Since 2009 I do not buy any foundation, BBCreams only. My favourite one is DIY Beauty Calendula and Licorice, but it's so hard to get it now :(
Beside that, I've 5 or 6 other tubes to try... Hope to find my HG...

  13. I've seen many videos on YouTube with ladies who use BB Cream. Everyone loves the stuff. Just wish it was easily available. I'd love to try it.

  14. I used this before and I repurchased! :)

  15. I am using the ETUDE HOUSE Pearl Shining Precious Mineral BB Cream #1, it does look greyish on the beginning, but it does adopt to my sking after 10 min... It has medium coverage... Now I will try the Garnier, just because I got for free ;) And then it will be your recommendation :)

  16. This is by far my favourite bb cream too :-) By the way, I recently got into nails and came across your blog and am now a huge fan! I love how you do your nails!

  18. Just bought on ebay, I got a sample of the Smashbox BB at Sephora, and it is sorta streaky. Also if your skin is flaky at all it looks terrible (but doesn't everything)
