Buying Kleancolor Nail Polish via BeautyJoint

As you already know, I purchased some Kleancolor polishes from BeautyJoint a while ago. Here's a reminder - One of the polishes came in really bad condition. Although the polish bottles were packaged quite well, with bubble wrap around them, I noticed some of the caps to not be screwed on tight enough. Seven polishes were still looking OK, but they did have some dried up polish on the rims. One of the bottles looked like this:

At first I thought it was a case of badly-screwed-on cap, but after I cleaned it up, I realized it was in fact a defective bottle. Visible on the photo below.

I moaned and bitched and ranted about it... I also wrote to the BeautyJoint customer service about my problem. Noone else seemed to have any issues with BeautyJoint (and there's a lot of Kleancolor polishes all over the blogs lately and most of them were purchased at the same online store) until I read someting from a girl named Ashley on Makeup Alley's Nail Board.

Ashley purchased 20 Kleancolor polishes from BeautyJoint and four of the polishes seemed to leak in transit. Here's her e-mail to the owner of the BeautyJoint:

''I got my polishes today and they are really lovely. Four of the polishes leaked in transit however - I guess the caps were not screwed on tight. The colors were 112, 155, 201, and 235.

Could you please send replacements or credit me the value of the four bottles?''

After that, she contacted BJ (BeautyJoint) via phone and talked to CS/owner (don't really know what's his position at BJ) Brian. He requested photos of the polishes and Ashley sent them to him. Here's one of them. I cropped the photo a bit, so you can see how much of the polish is missing.

Brian got the photos and this was his reply:

''Thanks for the photo. I could see the leak in couple of the bottle, but can't really tell on the other ones. It looks like these are still useable, just slightly short in volume, can I give you full credit for two bottles?''

Can you imagine that? I really couldn't tell about the leak on the black (fourth) polish, but it's very visible that all of the three polishes above are not full.

This is how Ashley replied:

''I didn't order used/damaged/leaked polish from you. I paid for new bottles. I would like a refund of $7.00 or replacement of the four damaged bottles. If you pay for return shipping, I will return the damaged bottles to you. I understand you run a business, but these did not arrive in new condition.''

And Brian:

''WE DO NOT SELL USED PRODUCTS!!!
We are the actual distributor for KleanColor which means that we sell wholesale and retail so for you to state that we sold you a used product is bit offensive! It clearly states in our website that we are NOT responsible for any items damaged during shipping as that's the responsibility of the buyer. I was trying to accommodate you, but if you reject my offer, there is nothing I can do for you further.''

Whoa. Right? Ashley doesn't have her own blog where she could share her experience with the rest of the nail polish fanatics. That's one of the reasons I decided to contact her and ask her about it myself. She admited that there's no way to tell if the polishes leaked during the shipping or if they were already sent that way. I, from my experience, wouldn't think twice. It was obviously a badly tightened cap... If the polish bottle breaks, that's one thing, but for the polish to leak - that can't just happen by itself. The caps didn't just unscrew by themselves. OK, so that's one thing. And the other thing that caught my attention was the way the CS person talked to her. Right after I read that, I didn't wait to get a reply from them. I opened a PayPal dispute and asked for my money back. Money for one polish + shipping for that one polish. And I got the money before I got a reply from Brian. The reply was polite and he said that they would have taken care of it one way or another. I guess it depend on whether they have a good or a bad day.

Let's look at the facts:

* BeautyJoint is an online store where you can get Kleancolor polishes super cheap. One bottle of this polish will cost you $1.75. But don't forget about the shipping. For 10 polishes I'll pay $17.50 + $16.76 for the shipping + $1.00 handling fee. Not so cheap anymore, is it?

* Accidents happen. There's always a chance of something happening to the goods you buy online during transit. That's not buyer's fault neither is the seller's fault. Unless the seller doesn't make sure the items are packaged properly, that is. From my experience, BeautyJoint packaged the polishes quite well, with a good amount of bubble wrap.

* When a nail polish bottle breaks, that's one thing. But when the polish leaks, it's probably (!!) because the cap isn't screwed on tight enough. The seller must take care of that and prevent it from happening. It doesn't matter how much of the polish leaked... you payed for the new, undamaged item, so that's what you must get. The same goes for defective bottles.

* My experience with BeautyJoint is good after all. I got my items soon after I ordered them. The packaging was OK, one of the items was damaged, but I got a refund. And there's one thing I gotta thank for that - paying via PayPal.

I'm probably still gonna buy at BJ and this post isn't about making them look bad. It's just to warn you about your rights and to advise you to buy safely. Pay via PayPal if you can. That way you'll have some sort of security. Not only when you buy at BJ, but always when buying over the internet. Oh, and one more thing - honesty is the best policy. And it goes both ways.;)

Most Special Polishes of My Collection: Red

Best of the reds are here!

China Glaze - Ruby Pumps

I don't think this one is that special, but it is one of the most popular ChG shades and maybe even one of the most popular red shades ever. This one is as famous as For Audrey. Maybe not a must have, but it's pretty. And I like it over black.

China Glaze - Sacred Heart

This one belongs to the Ink Collection which was all about the neons and other special mutant shades. If you're a red lover, this one is a must. Here's my post about this beauty. You'll get the idea of how much I love it.

Eyeko - Spicy

My second favorite red creme. It's opaque in one coat and the formula is just perfect. Let me rephrase that - this polish is perfection. Get it while you still can, Eyeko's nail polishes are now a limited edition! If you're gonna buy from Eyeko, use my code (E10655) for a free gift with your purchase.

Illamasqua - Throb

Another one coater worth mentioning. It shares 1st place with another great red creme...

Nu Colour - Scarlet

This was my long time no.1 red creme polish that now shares it's place with Illamasqua's Throb. It's so great: effortless application, awesome formula and the color... just perfect.

Rimmel - Desire

This is a VERY special polish to me. It's sooooo old... I used it 6 years and more ago. I managed to revive it with Seche Restore and now it's here with me again. A ''vintage'' Rimmel. Brings out so many memories...

Wet n Wild - Temptress

One of my favorite red shimmers. Vampy, sexy and just beautiful. Don't you think?

Honorable Mention:

Maybe you've noticed I mentioned Sacred Heart twice. Well, it's worth mentioning twice. ;)

Which are your favorite red polishes?

Neighbor's Visit

There's so much happening here, I can't even follow... But today, we had a little visit. He came and took our hearts immediately. Isn't he gorgeous? Our neighbors' cat named Tačko (Paws).

Aishila wasn't too happy though. She was hissing like a little snake. :D Poor thing. I think she was jealous. And besides - it's her territory, right?

My BF wanted to just keep this little fella. Yep, cats can steal your heart in a second. And there's no way back from there. ;)

My Nikon D3000 made these photos ... Just FYI.

So freakin' cute and cuddly. And he smelled so good. It's been a while since I've smelled a young cat's scent. It's awesome. Now tell me: did you or didn't you say ''awwwwww'' when you saw him? :D

Top 10 Cosmetic Products

My way of doing Top 10 tag. Again, I'm not playing by the rules, but who cares. I want this tag to (hopefully) be somewhat useful and not just a post with a bunch of links to other blogs. Here are my current top 10 cosmetic products, that I use the most.

#1 - Babylove Wash Gel [I use this to wash my face. I've been using it for the past few years now. It doesn't dry out my skin and it isn't too harsh.]

#2 - Balea Aqua Moisturizing Serum [I don't need a heavy duty face cream during summer, but I do need a moisturizer. This Balea serum is perfect for me.]

#3 - Essence Black Mania Eye Pencil [Eyeshadow isn't my friend in the summer. I use this pencil to line my eyes and then smudge it out. It looks like I'm wearing make up, but not too much of it.]

#4 - Essence Black Mania Mascara [My to-go mascara. Nothing spectacular, but pretty good.]

#5 - Wild and Crazy Eyeshadow in Ocean in Mood [Matte greyed out purple for my brows. I use Coastal Scent's taklon angle liner to apply it.]

#6 - Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara [It keeps my brows in perfect(-ish) shape all day.]

#7 - Wet n Wild Blush in Heather Silk [Pink for a healthy glow. I look very pale without any blusher.]

#8 - Illamasqua Bronzer in Writhe [The only bronzer I actually feel like wearing. Subtle, gradable and perfect.]

#9 - Vitaskin Medirepair [Best lip balm ever. This helped me through a very serious winter dry lips and I'm using it all year round. I think I have more than 5 of these at the moment: in my bag, on my computer table, in my make up case, in my suitcase...]

#10 - Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish [Small, easy to carry around, cheap, good quality, fun colors, good brush and formula... nothing else to say.]

Which are your top 10 beauty products? Let me know if you're gonna do this on your blog and if you don't have a blog, just tell me in your comments.

Most Special Polishes of My Collection: Blue

Here's the third post in my 'Most Special Polishes' series. This time, it's all about the blues.

Catrice - Blue My Mind

Best dark shimmery blue ever. Too bad they stopped selling this shade. It was a real winner.

China Glaze - Bermuda Breakaway

Best dark blue creme. I think this might be one of the most famous blue cremes with the nail polish fanatics. It's a little muted and kind of blurple. Very pretty.

Collection 2000 - BMX Bandit

My favorite periwinkle polish. This one looks like ChG Secret Periwinkle or Essie's Lapis of Luxury, but it's far more opaque and better to apply. Low end product that beats Essie and China Glaze. Got to love it.

Essence - Chuck

Most special blue creme ever. This color is really hard to describe that's why I won't even bother. It's special. And it's so opaque and easy to apply. One of my all time favorites. Well done, Essence!

Essence - Let's Get Lost

Best aqua shade of blue. Opaque in one coat. Wowza!

H&M - Bella's Choice

Best turquoise creme. It's fantastic!

H&M - Blue My Mind

Another phenomenal shade by H&M. It's a dupe of Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue. They come pretty close in quality as well. I chose this one, because it's EU based. =)

NYC - West Village

Some nail polish fanatics claim that OPI Ink is the best dark blurple shimmer. I say not. It's West Village that stole my heart. *in Smeagol's voice* My precious....

Orly - Royal Navy

I think this one doesn't need any explaining. Gorgeous.

Pure Ice - Kiss Me Here

My favorite blue creme. It's very opaque and the shade is just right - not too dark, not too light. I love this polish.

Honorable Mention:

And which are your favorite blue shades?
