Chihuahua Car had some kind of attack today. He fell down and started shaking. It was all over in a minute, but I still managed to call the vet in that time and scheduled a visit on Monday. I wanted to take him to the vet right away, but he's not working on the weekends. I think he was right the last time. I think our little chihuahua has epilepsy. We need to get the meds for him, but I'm still quite worried. Does anyone have experience with epileptic dogs?

This one doesn't have a lot to do with anything ... I saw a part of the Hellboy movie and I can't help it - I think Hellboy is hot. He's also repulsive, but in a good way. Damn, I'm weird.

ReplyDeleteJoj, kaj pa mačkici <3 Sem totalno zaljubljena v mačke in mačkone, in so mi take slikice res zakon! Je pa imel moj sošolec nekoč psa z epilepsijo, pa vem, da je normalno živel, pač če je imel napad, so počakali, da mine, potem pa so ga pomirili. Je bil pa precej nemiren pred napadom, tako da so čez čas že vedeli, da bo, pa so pazili, da se ni kam udaril, ko je padel. Želim pa tvojemu psu vse dobro, da bi imel čim manj problemov=) Fotka tedna je pa čudovita!! <3

ReplyDelete- Elsini nohti so mi zelo všeč, ampak kot vidim ima že po naravi krajše nohte in niti ne tako kratkih nohtov. *neznampovedat* :(
- Hits holoti mi grejo iskreno povedano zelo na živce iz enega samega razloga - dragi so zelo + večinoma imajo potem še poštnino drago in me jezijo... tako rada bi jih imela nekaj pa sem preveč škrt :D

my friends' dog has epilepsy, and now they feed her very high quality dog food or homemade dog food out of rice, rotisserie chicken, and some veggies i think. i'm not sure if she was on meds, but once they really got control of her food she got much better. hugs for your doggie! xo

Love your blog and all the lovely photos you post. A few years back, our family had a small poodle (maybe 10lbs) who had epilepsy. He did end up passing from it in the end but not after he spent many happy years with us. In the beginning when he was first diagnosed he would have one very few months. Thy would be mild and not last very long but still very scary for both us and him. He would get disoriented afterwards and panicky so the best thing we could do was just be there for him and make him feel safe until it passed. Lemme know if you need to would like to talk more. I know how awful it can be when furry family members fall ill.

I've known of two dogs with epilepsy, one was our first dog and she had a mild form, only about one seizure per year and didn't seem that affected.
ReplyDeleteThe other one had a bad form and was on medication, after getting the dose right he was practically free of seizures. Arya is absolutely adorable btw, I hope the relationship between her and Jimi will keep improving!
