Lana del Rey Inspired Make Up

Surely you've all heard of Elizabeth Woolridge Grant AKA Lana del Rey (aka former Lizzy Grant). Lana: A songwriter and a singer. And a make up inspiration. Her ''gangsta Nancy Sinatra'' look makes a lot of people miss the old days. And 60's make up. Here she is, on the cover of Interview magazine, which made me say ''wow!''. And this is the make up I was trying to get close to.

Eyes. Lana uses natural colors on her eyes, combined with heavy black liner. Just like in the 60's, the crease is one of the most important things to emphasise. Don't forget the white liner on the waterline and/or bottom lid either. A pair of false eyelashes would be great as well, but I skipped that step.

Products I used:
* Essence Stay All Day Concealer in Soft Beige (as a base)
* 88 Matte Eyeshadow Palette (nude all over the eyelid, taupe for the crease)
* Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner in Black
* NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
* NYX Doll Eye Long Lash Mascara

NYX Round Lipstick in Circe is the most perfect nude for this look I could find in my MU stash. But who am I kidding, this is the only lipstick I own that's remotely close to what Lana's wearing. =)

To sum it up: emphasised crease, black winged liner, white lower lash line/waterline, black falsies, nude lipstick and you're almost there. I wish my lips were fuller, like Lana's ... actually when I think it over, I don't want that. I just wish they were fuller. That's it. I didn't think I would take a photo of my face, so I didn't use any bronzer/blush. Just imagine it there.

Do you like Lana's make up? Would you wear something like this yourself?

  2. You're really a beautiful woman and I like the MU very much. The black liner is absolutely an eye-catcher on you (I hope this sentence is correct ^^), but for my everyday MU it would be a bit too much ;)
The only missing thing is a lip liner which I think Lana has used on that MU... Nevertheless it looks very good on you :)

  4. Res si odlično poustvarila njen look. Tvoj mi je sicer celo ljubši, ker so robovi linerja malo mehkejši.

Tukaj moram še dodati, damn, kako lepo kožo imaš. Fouš! :)

  7. I totally dig it. It's simple and yet pretty striking. Nowadays I've been wearing more and more MU like this. Only sometimes I skip lining my lower lash line and then add some colour to the lips. Love it! Btw, full lips can be a plus, but only if they look natural, in my opinion - what she did to her lips pretty much freaks me out. =P

  10. I think your lips are in perfect harmony with the rest of your facial features. It wouldn't suit you if they were fuller. Your main assets are wonderful bone structure, great skin and lovely eyes. This make up style looks really good on you.
I would love it if you were to post about your skin care routine, like you did with the manicure post the other day. Your skin is really flawless and I bet you'd have some pretty useful tips for us.

I would definitely wear something like this but not everyday. I'm a lucky one who has lips like hers =) but I am jealous about your eyebrows, I mean wow eyebrows like yours are rare out there :)
I have to pencil over my eyebrows, because they are not so closely :(

  21. You look gorgeous! I actually wore this type of makeup since I was a kid during that era. Well actually very early teens. I tried to wear this look to school and was hauled out of class by the principal. We weren't allowed to wear makeup or tease out hair. Teasing was on it's way out by then. My Mother was called and I with some other girls were sent home. My Mother was furious because she had to leave work. I didn't tease my hair it was just thick. My liner wasn't even that thick. We had to wash our faces before we had to leave. The next day I wore heavier liner and mascara. They never bothered me again. I even wore the white lipstick to go along with my 1960's look. Crazy! Your lips are perfect. I have thinner lips. I wish mine were like yours! I can't get my liner to look that good anymore. Aging eye skin stinks.

  22. I love how this looks on some people. I'm not sure how it would look on me. I'd definitely give it a go once, but I'm not sure it's an everyday look.
