I got some products for review and swatches: two Nail Varnish shades in Stance and Nomad, two Powder Eye Shadows in Sex and Burst, Sealing Gel and Precision Ink in Scribe.
Let's start with the Nomad nail polish shade. Could I call this one a bright, saturated pastel? I can't really decide what to say about the color, but it certainly is a spring shade. I can search for a similar colors in my collection and make a comparison, if you want - just let me know. Anyway. I had some troubles applying this polish for the first time. It took 3 coats to get the full opacity. I used it again today and applied slightly thicker coats. It worked, 'cause I only used 2 coats. You need to get used to it and then it's easy to work with. Other than that, it's a really nice polish: the formula is OK, it dries fast and it's glossy.
Next nail polish shade is called Stance. This one is a bordering to neon purple/fuchsia color and it's not completely true on the photos. It's warmer in real life and also much prettier. I had no troubles with this one. The formula is great as are the brush, application, opacity and drying time.
The two Powder Eye Shadows: the teal one is Burst and the white one is Sex.
Before I say anything else, I must say how surprised I was when I first used these eye shadows. They have the most subtle, sweet and amazingly pleasant smell. I don't know about eye products being scented, but I like it. You obviously can't smell it after you apply it, just while you're applying it. Here they are: Sex and Burst on the back of my hand.
I also got Precision Ink in Scribe which is basically a super-long-lasting eyeliner and Sealing Gel which ''turns any powder into a colour-intense, water-resistant paste that dries quickly and lasts for hours''. And I agree. It really does that.
I tried the powder eye shadows with the sealing gel and got someting like a liquid liner. After the thing dries, it stays put. The first one is Sex with Sealing Gel, but I guess my brush was still tainted with black eyeliner. That's why it became grey. On the other hand, it's all good - now I know I can mix any color with this gel. The middle one is Burst with Sealing Gel and the third line is Precision Ink in Scribe. A true white color.
I wanted to try out these products and create something 'Illamasqua like'. I used this photo for inspiration/reference.
I'm no Alex Box, that's for sure: but at least I tried, right?
