Weekly Sum-Up #27

What's up my darlings? I'd love to say I'm great, but the reality is a bit different. Damn you, warm weather and cold wind! I'll be OK. I realized I haven't posted a Weekly Sum-Up in a while and I'll make up for that today.

Dark Shadows by Tim Burton
Dark Shadows Johnny Depp

I haz a happy. A new movie by Tim Burton is coming. Of course there's gonna be Johnny Depp in it. Can Tim even consider filming without him? And we can't forget his wife either. Tim's wife, not Johnny's. Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Lee. I really iz happy. The cherry on top of the regular cherry on top of the sundae that is this movie (BS quote) - Alice Cooper is in it too! Dark and grotesque ambience, vampires, Johnny and Alice. I can't wait to see it!

Game of Thrones - Season II
Game of Thrones

War is coming! Or as the Starks would say 'winter's coming'. Anyway... I still adore Tyrion and Joffrey still makes me wanna go to King's Landing and slap his pouty little face. And I'd slap Sansa too. Just because. Oh, I almost forgot. There's a new character I can't stand seeing anymore - Theon Greyjoy. Who's on your bad/good list?

Crochet Shawl

I'm still crocheting like an old/pregnant lady. I enjoy it very much and I think I love it as much as I used to love nail polish. Yep, I said - used to. Things come and go and there's not much we can do about it. I'm still gonna post about nail polish though, don't worry. I'll just post an ocassional crochet as well.
On the photo above is my latest crochet shawl made of bamboo yarn. In case you're interested, I used THIS pattern.

Schwarzkopf Perfect Mousse in Dark Brown 400

I read a lot of good reviews on this new Schwarzkopf Perfect Mousse hair color. It's the first hair color in foam I've tried and I must say I like it. The application is a lot easier than with your regular hair color. It's kind of like using shampoo. Very easy, but it can get messy too, if you aren't careful. I think I'll be using this one in the future as well. Have you tried this color? What are your thought on it?

I bought these shoes and now I have a problem. They're slipping off. The part behind my heel. I tried those gel thingies you paste onto the heel part, but it's not working. Any other ideas?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  1. I love your crochet scarf! I'm so jealous of your skills. You see, I'm left handed and no one can really teach me. I've discovered a YTer who teaches specifically for left-handers, so I'll be trying that out. I'm like you when it comes to polish. Although I've always enjoyed, I was on a kick of the latest and greatest in polish for about 2 years. I'm kinda relieved that my interest has waned. Although I like having nice nails, having so much polish is just not necessary. Dang, I want those shoes! A classic pump with some oomph! Love them.

    1. Thank you! =) There's no need to be jealous. I learned how to crochet only a few weeks back. If I can do it, you can do it too! YouTube helped me a lot as well. I hope you won't give up. ;)

  2. Hiya!
Maybe try those other gel-thingies you have to put under the squishy part of your feet. (No idea how that is properly called, sorry... I mean the part coming after your toes.) My sister showed me those, and they do wonders when your shoes are just a tiny bit roomier than they should be. They make wearing heels much comfortable too! ^^

    1. Thanks for your advice, Lyona! I guess I'll really have to buy those. I read some good things about them, but didn't want to buy another pair of gel thingies that wouldn't work. =) I'll let you know if they'll work for me.

    1. =) You really like it that much? Well, thank you! Yep, I bought some bamboo yarn on Ebay. I didn't think it'll be so cool - soft and kind of 'wet' in comparison to regular wool/acrylic yarn.

    2. are you kidding me? of course! that colour is my all time favourite; bamboo is considered "green"/eco-friendly material; and the frills are just so incredibly adorable - cute, but not too "girly"! awesome!
will try to get my Ma to do it, though it'll be a bit silly (as my) birthday present (in summer :D)

  7. Pretty scarf! I also go through 'phases' of things I love, and crochet was (and occasionally pops up again and is) one of my favorite pastimes. And cute shoes! Though I have no idea how to help with the heel slippage :(

  8. Hi, Sasha! Always nice to read you and the weekly summ-up is a real treat. I looove Tim Burton's movies too. So, on your shoes' problem: you could try to put cotton balls inside it, so that would occupy a bit of space and your foot would be a bit further to the back, if they aren't incredibly too large for you, this should help. I'm dying to get back to knitting and crocheting now, as the weather has just turned pretty cold here in south Brazil. Might try to make myself one of those pretty scarves. =)

    1. Hey, Mauni! Thanks, I'm glad you like it. =) The shoes are just the right size, but they're still slipping off. I guess I'll have to try the pads... If you decide to crochet, show us your masterpiece when you're done!

  10. For the shoes - The gel things you can put in the back never work for me either but what works 99% if the time is putting gel things in the front, underneath the ball of your foot. It also makes them more comfortable to walk in.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Try getting some of the big gel pads and putting them in under the balls of your feet - they help push your foot back into the heel part. (I work in a shoe store and this is usually the best solution rather than putting the gel things in at the heels).

  13. Ooh, Dark Shadows! I'm not really a movie-person, but I saw the trailer a few weeks ago and I really want to see this one! As for the shoes (they're awesome, by the way!), you could try a pair of insoles - that usually does the trick for me :)

  14. Love the movie (can't wait to see it), and love GoT, and LOVE the shoes!
I always have the same kind of trouble with them, and what saved me was stumbling on this post => http://www.vivaadonis.com/2012/02/shoe-saviours.html and the heel grips from Deichmann =)

but let's get back to GoT now. my black list starts with Joffrey, I can't STAND seeing him, he's so repulsive, disgusting and just generally unlikeable. Theon and his actions make me wanna puke. on the bright side, I LOVE Tyrion, I really like Jon and Arya (she sometimes reminds me of me as a kid, I was such a tomboy) I'm liking The Hound a bit more now - he's shown some sympathy and I guess I hope he'll turn out good in the end (starting to read the second book now, so I guess I'll see soon enough)

    1. Thanks for the tip. I'll try those gel thingies. =) You basically said what I think about GoT characters. I read all the books and am anxiously waiting for more...

    2. I have the suede ones, they work better for me than gel ones do. =)

  15. I always have the same problems with heels! I think they are a shoe size too big?
That's always my problem, because I have so tiny feets and shoe size 36 but in heels I need size 35 and this size is not available everywhere :( So the shoes always slip off.

    1. No, Lala, they're not too big. I think we need to try those gel pads... =)

  16. Oh man - I fall in love with Game of Thrones soooooo bad. My BF gave me a e-book for christmas with the first part of the books (i think we have 8 in Germany cause they splitted every book into two) and after a while I started reading it - now it´s so f*cking hard to stop that :D I think he needs to buy me the 4th part today cause i finished the 3d one on friday :(
My most loved charakter is Tyrion too - he is just the most interesting one =)

  17. For the shoes try the leather soles you slide on the interior of the shoe, not at the heel. That usually works for me

  18. Sansa is so much more obnoxious in the first few books, and it doesn't really come across in the show. I still like both the show and books, though.

For the shoes, I recommend trying foam heel pads rather than gel. Gel is comfortable at first, but it just gets slippery. I don't know what brands are available to you, but look for something like this http://www.footpetals.com/event/catalog:detail/catalogCode/Heavenly-Heelz-FP002/categoryCode/

  20. I'm really excited about Dark Shadows. I can't wait and it looks like a good laugh.
I have to agree with your comments about Game of Thrones. There's some absolutely brilliant casting in this series. Tyrion is definitely my favourite character.

  22. Johhny <3 Že je bil čas, da ponovno posname kaj čudaškega s Timom. :) GoT druga sezona me pa še čaka, joj.

  24. About the shoes - hairspray is working as a glue in shoes - try it at least one time! Spray, put in foot - let it be glued to foot - walk proudly! *lol* - About nailpolish - to get the look of longer slimmer nails, put nailpolish of just a part of the nail - first transparent base of course - then paint from base of nail, but maybe one millimeter from base - and not all the way out on the sides, maybe 1½ millimeter from sides - the nails look looooonger and slimmer, I have VERY wide (broad) nails and use that trick often... slims my fingers too! It looks like have fingers like a piano-player... About your shawl - LOVE it! I have to learn how to crochet!
