  3. Oh my days they are gorgeous! I have a konad kit but not the patience. The dogtooth one is amazing, and I love the roses too. x

  6. I *love* this post! Your photos are really superb. These patterns are all fantastic, and I especially love the purple swirl pattern you did with plate m69. Definitely making me consider some plates I had previously overlooked. :)

  8. The mint green with white, followed by matte pink with blue and matte fuchsia with black.

    I truly enjoyed this post ^_^ .

One question: how do your nails take all the polishes and removals?

I wear polish for a few weeks... a month, a month and a half... And, since polish lasts about a week on me, that's not too many polishes or polish removers on them, but they start getting very, very brittle!

When I don't wear polish I can grow my nails long (although I prefer keeping them short), but if I do wear it, they break and peel even when they are freshly cut!
I'm afraid to touch anything at that stage because I'm afraid of further peeling.

What do you think might be to blame (since they grow long when naked I wouldn't say it was the diet)? The polish? The remover?
How do you care for your nails? Do they break or peel? How often do you shorten them?

    1. Hey Ana! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this post. =) My nails aren't too healthy and strong to begin with, but they take the polish and removals pretty well. I guess we're really different. My nails become stronger if I wear nail polish all the time. I can't grow them long if they're nude. I guess water makes more damage to my nails than remover and polish. I'd say it has to do something with your body chemistry. It looks like your nails just don't take polish too well. I don't take extra care for my nails lately. They do break and peel, I don't belong to the group of people who were blessed with strong nails, but keeping them polishes works for me. I shorten then whenever I think they're getting too long or if one of my nails break - that's every 1-2 weeks. All I can do is to recommend you to keep your nails moisturized. Use oils and hand creams in the evening before going to bed. It might work for you.

    2. Oh, thank you! I have the exact same issue, and I've never found anyone else that experience this before. I would love to polish my nails all the time but my best method at the moment is to let them rest for at least a week in between polishes. I have also discovered that moisture is more important than oil to restore my nails. I use aloe vera gel and hand cream to fight the dryness, and oil to protect them. For example I put a lot of oil on before taking a bath to keep the water off. Glad to hear I'm not alone :)

    3. Aw, thank you both for the answers :) !

      @ nihrida
Hm, it must be it; I'll just have to deal with it.

      @ Anonymous
I'm also glad to hear I'm not alone. Going through all the wonderful nail creations left me feeling like I was the only brittle-nailed-from-polish girl in the world.

    4. I have the same problem with you guys... my nails breaks and peels easily even I wear them short. It's because I don't have enough iron in my blood, that's what my doctor told me. He said to sleep at least 8 hrs and then take iron supplements etc etc... Since I was a child I know I have iron deficiency. If I take iron supplements, it makes my stomach upset. So I just take multivitamins and try to sleep 8 hours. But still my nails are still breaking. So I just accepted the fact that I will forever have weak nails after trying several nail strengthener products as well. One day I got a hand of OPI Nail Envy Original reminding myself that it would be my last try because it was a bit expensive for my pocket. But I was really pleased, this is the only nail strengthener product that really worked for me. I only apply a thin coat once a week but my nails are now very strong, I even use to open coke cans, no breaking. Maybe you could try.

    5. I use iron supplements as well. And I used to use OPI Nail Envy, but it contains formaldehyde and I rather stopped. It's banned as an ingredient in EU anyway.

    6. @ shaz.roseto

Yeah, I'm on the lower end of the scale with my iron, too.

I actually came back to thank Anonymous for her 'rest for a week between manis' tip - it seems to be working :D !
I can't make all the ideas that pop into my head as soon as I'd like to, but I don't have to deal with a month or two of peeling, brittle nails, which is more important.

      @ Nihrida

Trind (a Dutch company) has a formaldehyde-based nail-hardener. What's up with that? (Polished Perfectionist mentions it in her Hand and Nail care article.)

  22. This is an amazing post and must have taken hours and hours for you to do. These are all stunning and I love that I have nearly all these plates and will be able to recreate some of your design combinations. Beautifully painted nails and a fantastic compilation of images together for each combo.

  27. Wow, your stampings look wonderful! I really like the last one. It looks like clouds on a blue sky.. with a black base it would remind me of a cow (in a positive way of course) ^^

  28. What a great post, thanks for sharing. I like all the designs, just can't choose a favorite. I thought about getting stamping plates from Konad or BM but I am not skilled at stamping at all (I only have some Essence plates to try and I can never get a full nail design right). So I just keep looking at other people's designs ;)

  31. OMG, what an AMAZING post. I love how you put all the polishes and plate numbers at the bottom of every pic. Very informative. All the mani's are AMAZING. I love the hounds tooth, closely followed by the pink and purple mani. Again, thanks for this AMAZING post, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  32. so jealous :O I have yet to find any stamping plates where the full nail motifs are usable to me, my nails are a bit too long and too wide :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. sooo many amazing manis! i can see why they asked you to do it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow, how on earth do you line up your stamps so consistently? I can never seem to figure out where the pattern is in relation to my nail so it always looks like a mixed bag of random placements. Is there a trick to getting the pattern to land where you want it to go?

  35. ANYBODY...HELP ME PLEASE! I tried stamping with Konad but I made a massive mess. How do you recommend keeping the clean up to a minimum? I get polish (usually black) all over the plate, the scraper, and the plate holder. Not to mention polish on the stamper itself. Then when I used polish remover it seems to discolor the tools. And I best part of all, I wind up ruining the mani I just painstakingly worked on for hours. How do you stamping divas keep it clean and not sloppy? Thank you.

    1. I don't use the plate holder at all. I simply place the plate on an old magazine. When I scrape off the polish, I wipe the scraper into the magazine. For each nail. And that's it. I also keep a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover on the magazine, so I can wipe the stamper immediately after the stamping. Try to use less agressive polish remover - I use the one without acetone and it works fine. When it comes to the cleanup, I simply use q-tips dipped in np remover. =) Hope this helps.
