Urban Decay Vegan Palette

You know me: there's a better chance of hell freezing over than me buying an expensive eyeshadow palette. It's not that I wouldn't want to have it, I just don't think it's worth spending all that money on. Besides, I have more important things to pay for - like vet bills for example. When I got this Urban Decay Vegan Palette as a gift, I thought I was gonna faint. I couldn't stop staring at it and I didn't want to touch it. Just to keep it intact. Swatching was out of the question at that time.

Two green shades, gunmetal, brown, bronze and golden shade, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and mini eyeshadow primer. Everything you need for an eye make up look (everything besides mascara). And all those cute animals on the packaging... it just can't get any better.

Then the whole Urban Decay going to China thing happened. At that time I didn't feel bad about swatching the palette anymore. Hell, it's just make up, right?

Yes, the shadows are quite well pigmented and easy to work with, but they're not THAT special. I can make a look like this with my 4€ palette and noone will know which one I used. With a good base, everything lasts 12 hours on me. And since I'm already talking about base - I doubt I'll be buying UD Primer Potion again. I think I'll just get myself that cheap ELF primer, because it works wonders on my sister's eyelids. Yeah, I said it. I don't think I'll be needing you, Urban Decay.

Just to clear it up: I like to buy cruelty free products, but I'm not focusing on those products only. Deal with it.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  1. I have that palette. It was my first makeup purchase when I became vegan! I love the pigmentation and how soft they are but I get a lot of glitter fallout. I wish they didn't have glitter.

  2. I like the way you make such a bold statement. I see many beautybloggers going crazy over -MUST HAVEE- UD! It's true, the colors aren't that unique and that look (which I find very pretty btw) can also be made with cheaper eyeshadows! But I also have to admit this palette must look gorgeous on your make up table. I find the words on the front a little ironic though ;)

  3. Wow, that was a refreshing take on makeup in general.

  4. Oh dear, I am an eye shadow junkie! (Or at least I was when I was in the hospitality industry, but now have to sweat in a cafe kitchen for a living and no more eyeshadow to run into my eyes and make me cry.)
I would have LOVED this Urban Decay pallet...it is beautiful and colors that I as a natural redhead would use. You did a beautiful presentation.

  5. I think it's fair that you decided to show the palette and the swatches even though you don't agree with the company's policy. Perhaps there are readers who don't share your point of view and might find this useful. Very professional of you indeed.

  6. Dull colours, I wouldn't buy this.

  7. The colours are pretty indeed, but again, you can dupe those with drugstore eyeshadows that work just as well. The neutrals in that palette am sure can be found elsewhere.

  9. This palette from UD reminds me of that one from Essence, from the LE 'You Rock'. It's almost the same.
And talking about cruelty free cosmetic products, I've read that UD will be testing on animals soon, because this is a request to sell cosmetics in China. The same thing happens with MAC. Big mistake!
