I recently got to try 7 shades from the BYS Colour Change nail polish range. Wanna see the swatches and find out what I think of them? Keep reading then.
All the shades I got to try together. From left to right, top to bottom: Blue, Bright Pink, Bright Purple, Glitter Blue, Glitter Purple, Royal Blue and Salmon. See all shades on BYS website.

BYS, Colour Change Nail Enamel, Blue
I'm not sure why is this shade called blue, when it's actually more green than anything else. Better yet, turquoise. It does get a bit more blue-ish in it's 'cool mode', but it's still a turquoise. Without a doubt.

I must say I was ''a little'' disappointed with these polishes. I expected a much bigger color change (something in the range of Claire's Mood polishes) and it just didn't happen. Even when I dipped my fingertips into ice water. Well, you could see that for yourself on the photos above. The application of these polishes was OK and nothing more than that. Most of them are 3 coaters, but I forgot exactly how many coats I used for each of these shades. Too much for my liking, that much I can say. I did everything to try and make this color change happen. I even prepared two cups of water side by side: one with ice water and the other with hot water. I painted my nails and dipped my middle finger in the 'hot' cup and my index finger in the 'ice' cup. I photographed the results immediately ...
From L to R, top to bottom: Blue, Bright Pink, Bright Purple, Glitter Blue, Glitter Purple, Royal Blue, Salmon.

Salmon is definitely the best in the bunch when it comes to changing color, followed by Bright Purple. Royal Blue changed the least, followed by Bright Pink. If you're looking for a drastic color change, these aren't for you, but if you like the color... try it out - you might like it more than I did.
Dip, dip, dipping...
*Polishes were sent to me for swatching purposes.
Thanks for looking and commenting!

swatches are so helpful... And loving the effects after dip... Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThis may be just me, but it seem like this would be a launch better suited for winter.
ReplyDeleteIn the summer it's warm outside, we're warm.
People don't have many run-ins with icy water.
In the winter we're constantly exposed to changing temperatures: warm inside, cold outside, we're freezing or feeling toasty...
Thanks for the very thorough review! I agree-the color changes aren't very dramatic. I do like the look of Glitter Blue both hot and cold--I'd wear that one regardless.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I like the subtle effect. All of the hot and cold shades are lovely. I especially like Glitter Blue and Salmon. You did a great job swatching and reviewing, you really put a lot of effort into it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you take requests or suggestions on what to write about, but I would personally love to see a post on storage, i.e. where and how you store your nail polish and nail related stuff, make-up, jewelry... Oh, and an update on Lisa would be great :)
great review!!
ReplyDeleteNice I love mood polishes but the effect of these isn't that big. Like Claires and InTheMood better :)
ReplyDeleteThe colors are all gorgeous to begin with, the color change just makes them even better. Bright Purple may be my absolute favorite of the bunch!
ReplyDeleteI like bright purple, would be fun to wear in the wintertime, brrrrrrr!
ReplyDeleteOh, kaka lepa preobrazba pri Glitter Blue. Ta mi je najbolj všeč.
ReplyDeleteKar se tiče barv, pa se mi dopadeta še Blue in Bright Pink.
woooow :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reviewing them so accurately, I have to say they are not that interesting to me (I already have a couple of Claire's Moods and even them barely change on me).
ReplyDeleteGreat swatches! Never heard of this kind of nail polishes, they look like fun ^^
