With all the nail polish bottles and shades, only two of them caught my eye when I walked into the store yesterday. One of them is fairly new Catrice shade from the core line called It's All I Can Blue and the other is a shade from the Essence Class of 2013 trend edition called Blues of Being Cool. They're both gorgeous blue cremes and since I love ''weird'' blues, I thought I would show both of them together and maybe make it easier for you to decide for one of them - or both.

Color drops - as accurate as possible:

Catrice is brighter and more saturated and Essence is dustier and leaning towards being purple. Perfect cornflower (Catrice) and periwinkle (Essence) cremes.

Catrice, It's All I Can Blue, 2 coats

First of all let me tell you I still hate the new Catrice brush. It's bushy, uneven in length and it looks like one of my cats chewed on it. It's not impossible to paint your nails with it, but it is challenging to do it without mess - at least for me. I want the old: flat and neat brush back! Other than that I don't have any major complaints. It's All I Can Blue is opaque in 2 coats and it doesn't take forever to dry. You'll need to add a top coat over it if you'll want a glossy finish, beacuse it dried pretty bleh on me. This one costs ~ 2.59 €.
Essence, Blues of Being Cool, Class of 2013 Trend Edition, 3 coats

Blues of Being Cool is better when it comes to brush quality, but isn't as opaque as Catrice. It took 3 coats for full opacity - although I can deal with it since the color is so gorgeous. This is the only color from the new Class of 2013 trend edition that caught my attention and I suggest you get it if you can. Price: 1.99 €.
Almost perfect match for my new bag. =)

Which one looks better to you?
Thanks for looking and commenting!

Ko sem zagledala steklenički, sem takoj pomislila, kako bi šli k tvoji novi torbici. :D
ReplyDeleteHe he he, priznam - obožujem to barvo!
DeleteI really like the Essence shade. It's really pretty! I recently found out what you mean about the Catrice brushes. I got sent a bottle with the new brush and it's horrible to work with :(
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry you had to see/try it for yourself. But at least you now know what I've been talking about. Horrible!
DeleteHi Nihrida, I thought that Catrice's was a periwinkle color...in fact i have it and besides red and light blue is the color that best suits my skin tone. I really like the color and now i know its correct color term.
ReplyDeleteHi July! =) Well, in my opinion Catrice doesn't have enough red in it to be called periwinkle. You're lucky to be able to pull periwinkle/cornflower blue off. =)
DeleteI love them both, but I think I would get the essence one!
ReplyDeleteThey both look great on you, but as for buying them I already made a mental note about the Essence one. On me cornflower usually looks awful and I prefer dealing with bushy (perfect term) Catrice brushes just for special polishes.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. It really must be a special color for me to buy a Catrice polish (mainly because of the brush).
DeleteI like them both! I have two of the new-brush catrice nail polishes, and the brushes are fine on mine... they make painting my nails easy and quick, I don't even have to clean up afterwards :O
ReplyDeleteI guess you're one of the lucky ones... =) I like my brushes flat and neat - and most of all not bushy.
DeleteLove how the Essence matches your bag!
ReplyDeleteI like the Catrice one better.
ReplyDeleteBoth super pretty blues...maybe I like the Essence just a tiny bit more:)
ReplyDeleteI love your short nails!!!!!!
ReplyDelete=) Thank you!
DeleteIts all I can blue!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, i love the Catrice one! :D
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Romania. This is a very nice blog and you are a very sweet person. This two polishes are both gorgeous but the essence one reminds me of another nail polish and i cant for the life of me remember what.Any help, someone?
ReplyDeleteHi Sunni! Thank you for your compliments! Well, I can think of some periwinkle cremes: ChG Periwinkle, Essie Lapis of Luxury, Collection 2000 BMX Bandit, BB Couture Zuma Wave Rider... On the second photo it kind of looks like Sally Hansen Pacific Blue or H&M Blue My Mind. Maybe one of these?
DeleteYesssssssss,Pacific Blue, thank you very much.It grated on my nerves, you know when some word is on the tip on your tongue but you cant remember it?Thanks
DeleteI really love the Essence one!
ReplyDeleteI love them both I think. I must lucky also because I didn't have any problem with my Catrice polish brushes either.
