Review: Tip Top Nail Chic Polish

Just when you think you know every nail polish brand under the sun you get an email and realize you're wrong. I first heard of Tip Top nail polish brand when they sent me a message asking me to review their polishes. And I accepted the offer. Three nail polish shades and a nail treatment for my honest opinion. You got it!
Tip Top Nail Chic Polish

Let me tell you right away - I suck at reviewing nail treatment products. I have to use them regularly for a longer period of time to tell you about the results and I just fail at that. Especially now when I'm not using base coat at all. Polish, maybe a layer of top coat and I'm good to go. If I ever try out this Tip Top Miraculous Results Nail Build thing properly I'll let your know about it.

Nail Build Ingredients: Butyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Phthalic Anhydride/Trimellitic Anhydride/Gylcols Copolymer, Isopropyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Adipic Acid/Fumaric Acid/Phthalic Acid/Tricyclodecane Dimenthanol Copolymer, Silica, Glycerin, Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Flour Extract, Hypnea Musciformis Extract, Methylparaben, CI 77891.

I did try the polishes though. =) I hoped for darker (my kind of) shades, but these are the ones I got:

Tip Top, Rocky Road Glitter (over Pot-O-Berries), 2 coats

Tip Top, Sexy Bikini, 2 coats

WOW, I don't even know where to start... As I already mentioned, I never heard of Tip Top brand before. The first thing I did after receiving their e-mail was searching info about them on the internet. Without much luck. They have a Facebook page, but that's not enough for me since I'm not really using FB myself. Their website however is currently under construction. That means I still haven't seen their range of colors, products and prices. Too bad. That's the first and most important thing for all customers and I hope they'll fix it soon.

About the polishes: They come in cute little 10 mL bottles and are free of Formaldehyde, Dibutylphthalate (DBP), Toluene and Camphor. So - the polishes are big 4 free! Polishes have flat and flexible brushes that are an absolute dream to work with. They're not bushy, none of them was wonky or stiff. Perfection. Just like the formula - great consistency, not goopy or too runny. And the best thing: the polishes are opaque in 2 coats. Drying time is fast, since the formula isn't thick and you only need 2 coats. Overall I'm SO impressed with these polishes, I can't even tell you. I don't know if all the shades are this good or if I just got the shades which were picked very carefully. I only know that I would love too see/have more of these. Plus, I'd love to be able to get more information on Tip Top Nails. So, please, dear Tip Top people, take care of this - your polishes are way too good to not be known.

Where can you find them? (hopefully)

Essence - Ice Crystals on My Window (Crystalliced Trend Edition)

I can't believe how late I am with this polish. It's one of the nail polish shades from the Essence Crystalliced Trend Edition from the beginning of this year. Can you believe I had photos of Ice Crystals on My Window stashed in my 'polishes' folder until now? I know it's not as interesting as it would be a couple of months ago, but it's still polish and I see some of the old trend editions poping up here and there, so...
Essence - Ice Crystals on My Window (Crystalliced Trend Edition)

When the promo photos of the products from this collection came out I said I'm turned off by the frosty finishes and boring colors, but I'm not sorry I got this one. It's a pretty, pretty polish.

Essence - Ice Crystals on My Window (Crystalliced Trend Edition)

Ice Crystals on My Window is a 3-coater so I guess I won't be wearing it a lot. It does give my nails a nice clean and 'cold' look. Not my signature color, but a nice one anyway. I could go on and on about it, but I don't think it's necessary since it's not available anymore.

This is a make up look I did a while ago using my 120 Eyeshadow Palette. I also used Essence Black Mania eye pencil for the lining and Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara.

Bourjois 1 Seconde in Bleu Water

Bourjois polishes are not my usual pick, but since they were 50% off, I thought of trying them out. One of my purchases was this dusty light blue polish called Bleu Water. It's one of the shades from the 1 Seconde nail polish line. That doesn't apply to the drying time, but to the application time. The brush in this polish is really wide and I can paint my whole nail with only one stroke. I still don't know what to think of it. It's OK, but I like to have more control over the brush and this one just wraps my whole nail. It's a pro and a con really.

So, I already told you about the brush. The formula is good - not too runny or thick and it's surprisingly opaque. The polish dries pretty fast. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with this polish. My sister bought it too and she told me it's great, but the lasting time sucks. I didn't wear it long enough to tell you about it, but I guess it depends from person to person. My sister, for example, gets white tips before the polish would chip on her and I experience chipping with all polishes.
Bourjois 1 Seconde in Bleu Water

I'm not completely sure how much I payed for this polish, I think it was ~ 3.00 €, but I know for sure that I would never pay the full price. Essence spoiled me.

What are your thought and experiences with Bourjois polishes?

Weekly Sum-Up #32

I just spent the best day with my family. We were out all day, had a little BBQ and talked. Now I'm tired and I think I'll sleep like a baby. Yay!

Aishila had her check at the vet yesterday. They confirmed that her lungs are OK, but there's something going on with her liver. We don't know if it's anything serious - she'll be going back to the doctor on Tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed!

I wore Barry M Indigo on my super short nails this week. I also wore Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, which I forgot to photograph and Guppy #64 which I'm wearing right now. I'm into blues lately.

Enid Blyton and her Famous Five series. I still remember the day our teacher told us about these books. I was in 3rd grade and I went to the library right after the class (I was quite a book nerd back then). I fell in love with the stories and the characters and I think I read every book at least 5 times. I still like to read them, but it's kind of embarrassing to go to the library and borrow a book for 10-year-olds. I solved the problem and bought all the books. Now they're mine - I can read them whenever I want and not feel embarrassed by it. Oh, these take me back...

Hey, ladies, Johnny Depp is single at last! He's also 49 years old, but I don't think it matters, right?

Lavender and roses. I love how the real stuff smells. <3

Ah, technology. I like it, but it also scares me. I don't consider myself as a big techno freak, but I like to live a cosy life. That's one of the reasons why I purchased a tablet. Now I can stay in my bed and read blogs or books - there are tons of free Edgar Allan Poe books in the store! - watch movies or listen to the music. Or play Angry Birds. *cough* I'm so 2009.

This is Toyo. He's our neighbor's dog. He's kind of crazy but also sweet. He's a friend of Aishila (she's very happy when he comes to visit) while Jimi's giving him the evil eye. He's afraid of her. And Arya is afraid of Toyo. And the circle is complete.

Posts of the week:

Kittens are getting bigger and bigger. It's a cuteness overload and I can't help myself.

This floral nail art took my breath away. Bruno from Acetone and Old Lacquer did a great job, plus her nails are to die for.

I'm not a 100% what to think of this. It's not something I'd usually listen to, but I can't say it's bad. It's interesting really. So different and ... freeky.

Urban Decay Vegan Palette

You know me: there's a better chance of hell freezing over than me buying an expensive eyeshadow palette. It's not that I wouldn't want to have it, I just don't think it's worth spending all that money on. Besides, I have more important things to pay for - like vet bills for example. When I got this Urban Decay Vegan Palette as a gift, I thought I was gonna faint. I couldn't stop staring at it and I didn't want to touch it. Just to keep it intact. Swatching was out of the question at that time.
Urban Decay Vegan Palette

Two green shades, gunmetal, brown, bronze and golden shade, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and mini eyeshadow primer. Everything you need for an eye make up look (everything besides mascara). And all those cute animals on the packaging... it just can't get any better.
Urban Decay Vegan Palette

Then the whole Urban Decay going to China thing happened. At that time I didn't feel bad about swatching the palette anymore. Hell, it's just make up, right?
Urban Decay Vegan Palette Swatches

Yes, the shadows are quite well pigmented and easy to work with, but they're not THAT special. I can make a look like this with my 4€ palette and noone will know which one I used. With a good base, everything lasts 12 hours on me. And since I'm already talking about base - I doubt I'll be buying UD Primer Potion again. I think I'll just get myself that cheap ELF primer, because it works wonders on my sister's eyelids. Yeah, I said it. I don't think I'll be needing you, Urban Decay.

Just to clear it up: I like to buy cruelty free products, but I'm not focusing on those products only. Deal with it.

Essence - Purple Party (Show Your Feet)

I have another polish from the Essence Show Your Feet trend edition - Barefoot Beauties for you. This one is named Purple Party.
Essence Purple Party (Show Your Feet)

Essence, Purple Party, 3 coats
Essence Purple Party (Show Your Feet)

The main reason why I love polishes from the Show Your Feet line is their opacity. They're supposed to be 'toe nail polishes' and most of them are 2 coaters. This one is an exception. It's a gorgeous shimmery purple, but it needs 3 coats for full opacity. For me it's one of those shades where I can say - I forgive you. It's worth it. Purple Party reminded me of Catrice Heavy Metallilac at first, but when I look at both of them, it's obvious this one is warmer. I suggest you grab this one if you see it in the store.
Essence Purple Party (Show Your Feet)

Purple madness isn't as strong as it used to be, but I still appreciate a good purple shade. This one is.

Review: BeautyBird Sun Seeking Girl UV Top Coat

Let me tell you about my new favorite top coat. As a quick reminder - I used to love Seche Vite (for it's speedy drying time) and later I found out about ''David'' which was basically the same as Seche but cheaper. Then I stopped using top coat for a while and started again with Essence Nail Art Sealing Top Coat which blew my socks off. And now I'm using BeautyBird Sun Seeking Girl UV Top Coat.
BeautyBird Sun Seeking Girl UV Top Coat

I got this top coat with some other items by BeautyBird for review and it took me a while before I first tried it. I'm just not that into top coats anymore. I mean - it's just another coat of polish and it doesn't make my manicure last any longer or dry that much faster. Huh, go read my top coat posts from previous years and listen to me now. Yeah, people change. Still, this top coat was waiting for me to try it. And so I did. My first impression:
- the formula is really thin/runny
- the brush is kind of stiff
- the brush picks up the color of my manicure and if I'm not to careful and quick with the application, it can also ruin it (bald spots)

But then I realized something else. All that stuff from above is true, but this top coat dried my manicure SO fast I couldn't believe it. It's definitely one of the fastest drying I've tried so far. Faster than Seche and faster than Essence. Maybe because it's thin, maybe it's the formula... Now I've learned how to apply it without ruining my mani (dragging the color all over my nails) and it rocks! It gives my nails a really high shine and they're dry in a matter of minutes.

You can buy BeautyBird Sun Seeking Girl UV Top Coat on their website for 9.00 €.

EDIT: Despite the name, you don't need an UV light to dry this top coat.

Essence - Bashful (Snow White Trend Edition)

Two polish shades. I only wanted two polish shades from the whole Essence Snow White trend edition: Grumpy and Bashful. And I got one of them. Bashful.
Essence - Bashful (Snow White Trend Edition)

Essence, Bashful (Snow White TE), 2 coats
Essence - Bashful (Snow White Trend Edition)

Sure, I don't own that many green polishes, but this one is special one in my collection. Thank goodness for the shimmer or else it would be just another ''squished frog'' type of green. I like the brush and color (obviously). Formula isn't the best, but it's not bad at all. It's a bit thicker than some other Essence polishes I've tried lately, but nothing to be worried about. Opacity is OK and so is the drying time. What I don't like is the small amount of product. I know it's supposed to be a dwarf, but come on Essence! We want more - at least 8 mL. M'kay?
Essence - Bashful (Snow White Trend Edition)

Now I only need to get my hands on Grumpy. If I'm lucky enough. And if not: I'll survive either way. ;)

Essence - Kiss of the Mermaid (Show Your Feet)

Coral polishes used to be a no-no for me. Don't ask me why I pretty much hated anything that looked orange-y. This time I made an exception. I found a display of Essence Show Your Feet Trend Edition called Barefoot Beauties and didn't even consider buying the shades I'd normally buy - green and blue. My eyes were set on this bright coral red polish. I mean - it's HOT!
Essence Kiss of the Mermaid (Show Your Feet)

Essence, Kiss of the Mermaid, 2 coats
Essence Kiss of the Mermaid (Show Your Feet)

I definitely think this should be one of the shades in their regular nail polish line. It's perfect for summer and it would look great on just about anyone. I love the formula just as much as I like the color. It is a bit jelly-like, but it's also quite pigmented. Two coats are completely enough, the application is a breeze and it dries pretty fast. I think I'm gonna wear this one again soon.

Here's a necklace I purchased on Ebay not so long ago. I also got matching earrings with it. I probably wouldn't wear them together in real life like I did for these photos. If you want one like this, search for 'black bead necklace' on Ebay and you should find it. I got this jewellery set for $1.97 (buy it now, free shipping).

Weekly Sum-Up #31

I have the best news for you. Well, they're actually the best for me, but some of you might be really happy about it as well. We took Aishila to another vet for second opinion. They made 2 X-rays of her chest part and an ultrasound. They found out there's nothing wrong with her lungs. Both lungs are just fine - no water, no collapse. The only problem is in her nose. Maybe it's polyps. We don't know yet, but she's on special antibiotics. The vet said there's no way this cat should be euthanised (like the previous vet suggested). When I found out all this, I thought I was gonna die of happines. And at the same time, I was thinking - what the hell was that first vet doing?! We already lost Car because of his mistake and now I know for sure... he must have bought his degree, because he doesn't know a thing about animal health.

For my fellow Slovenian animals lovers and pets - if there's something wrong with your pet and you live near Krško, go to Veterinarski center Krško (ZVC Lipej - Šerbec). They're very professional and they know what they're doing. I can't even tell you how well they took care of Aishila. They rock!
Aishila

While I'm at it: thank you for all your good thoughts and wishes. They meant the world to me! Thank you!

Arya. Loves to sleep in my red round chair. In awkward poses.

You wouldn't believe what happened today if I didn't have a photo to prove it. I went outside to take photos of my polished nails when a butterfly flew by and landed on my nose. It eventually climbed on my finger and stayed there for a while. Long enough for me to take some photos. Actually it was my BF who took them. I felt like a damn Snow White. Which is funny... 'cause I just bought a polish from the Essence Snow White Trend Edition. =D
Butterfly

I started wearing eyeshadow again. I used to go to work with mascara only and I did my brows as well, but I didn't bother with eyeshadow. Until now. I like neutral shades with emphasised crease - something work safe. Not that I care about that, but still. I doubt I'll be wearing eyeshadow this week though. 35 degrees Celsius? Why don't they just kill me? I'm wearing Essence Kiss of the Mermaid on my nails. I'll tell you more about it soon.
EOTD & NOTD

My mother's flowers. Again. They're pretty.

Feline from Alizarine Claws was happy about her L'Oreal Rebel Blue manicure. And so was I. Beautiful!

I thought there's nothing new they can invent, but OPI did it. Happy Nails introduced me to Black Spotted. I kind of like it.

I want this Island Girl Aloha Luau polish nailXchange featured on her blog. It's purple and it's awesome.
