Updated Nail Polish Database

Finally! I updated my nail polish database, where you can see color drops of almost all polishes I got my hands on. They're sorted by color (in one case by finish) and listed in alphabetical order. Hope you'll find it useful. Click on the heart collage to go to my nail polish database...

A little FYI - I sorted the polishes in 9 categories:
  • B&W, Silver & Grey (102 polishes)
  • Blue (138 polishes)
  • Brown, Nude & Taupe (59 polishes)
  • Holographic, Duochrome & Misc (78 polishes)
  • Green (126 polishes)
  • Pink (82 polishes)
  • Purple (139 polishes)
  • Red (62 polishes)
  • Yellow, Orange, Gold & Coral (51 polishes)
You can tell I was always really into purple and (lately) blue shades. =)

Thanks for looking!

Eyes and Nails of the Day

Black eyeshadow (the one from Sleek Oh So Special Palette) instead of eyeliner and Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Curl mascara. That's it. Oh, and a bit of blush. My make up. It's been like this for days. Maybe it's just me, but I think my lasher *are* a tad longer now. I've been using Xlash Eyelash Enhancer for more than a month... I think it's time to show you the results. Soon.

I wanted something dark, but not black for my nails. I chose Essence Mystic Lilac from Wild Craft trend edition. I'm not sure why it looks darker on me than the last time I wore it. I could only see the brown side of it today too. Almost no purple. Weird.

Catrice - Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans

Taking a break from all the FNUG goodness with a ''good old'' Catrice polish. Why quotation marks you ask? Well, based on the brush of this polish it's not that good, neither is it old, since this is the new (shimmer free) version of Catrice Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans. At least I think this is some other version of the polish: the shade has been discontinued and then brought back. I see no shimmer in my bottle of this polish whatsoever and the other version has it.

I still don't like the new brush (doh!), although I've learned to work with it. I like everything else about it. Good formula, opacity and drying time. The color is interesting as well - muted. I like it. And you?

I know I already posted this song, but this is another music video... let's say - version II.

FNUG Fake Fur - Taupe Comparison

In my previous post Krvava Meri mentioned FNUG Fake Fur reminds her of some other taupe polish and she couldn't remember which one. Later Natalia said Fake Fur is a rare taupe. I checked my nail polish database (P.S: I really have to update it sometime soon.) and found some color drops that looked similar.
FNUG Fake Fur - Taupe Comparison

Unfortunately I no longer own Rimmel Steel Grey because of this taupe comparison I did last year. I did find two other polishes that were pretty close to FNUG Fake Fur: China Glaze Channelesque and NYX Girls The Taupe.

Which is which?

Channelesque is the warmest one and The Taupe is the darkest one. There are no dupes here, that's for sure, but when I look at my nails from a distance, I can't see much difference between Channelesque and Fake Fur. FF is actually the best 'close but not the same' shade of Channelesque I've seen so far. And a better choice for cool toned girls too. I like them all though.

FNUG - Fake Fur

Now that we've seen all of the FNUG holographic polishes, we can move on to the cremes and glitters. Fake Fur was my first choice.

FNUG, Fake Fur, 3 coats

''Fake-Fur is right on trend. Your designer friend has created several stylish fake fur items in his stunning autumn collection. You want them all! This warm grey nail varnish is cool grey without getting too brownish.'' (FNUG)

I would describe Fake Fur as a perfect taupe for me. As the FNUG description says, it doesn't get too brownish - it does look different under different lighting, but it never gets too warm. You could say it's a warm grey or a cool taupe, pretty neutral if you ask me.

The application of this polish was OK, I just wish it was a bit more opaque. The first layer went on kind of watery, while the second one felt like I'm applying a quite opaque polish. Weird. I had to use another coat for full opacity though. The brush is small but works great. I wore this polish for three days when I got some chipped tips. I can't say if it was the polish that chipped or my nails - yes, my nails chip on a regular basis.

Ludurana over Guppy

A layering combo I wore a couple of days ago. One of my favorite go-to shades Guppy 64 with Ludurana Fascinante. Two coats of Guppy and one coat of Ludurana. Multichrome combo.

Catrice - Forget Me Not

An oldie with the old Catrice brush - Forget Me Not.

Catrice, Forget Me Not, 2 coats

I got this one in a local drug store (Drogerija Tuš) for 2.19 € where they had some of the old (discontinued) shades. I love the fact it has that flat, non-bushy brush. The good old days... The formula of this one is great and so was the application. Forget Me Not has an awesome opacity. I used 2 coats, because it looks better on camera, but you could easily use only 1 coat in real life. It's fast drying too. I love it!

Since it's purple and we all know purples are a pain in the ass to photograph, imagine it to be more purple than it is on my photos. More on the warm side.

FNUG - Futuristica

Last (but certainly not least) holographic polish from FNUG - Futuristica. This one is my favorite out of the three. Light blue holographic awesomeness. And again a bunch of photos to show you why exactly it's so special and kickass

I don't think any words are neccessary. FNUG Futuristica is a gorgeous light blue holographic polish with a strong holo effect. The quality of this polish is the same as with Psychedelic and Fantastica - thin formula, 2 coats are needed for full opacity. Again, I used FNUG Aqua Fix Base Coat underneath for easier application and stronger holo effect. Perfection.

FNUG - Fantastica

Let's take a look at another FNUG holographic goodness. This one is called Fantastica and it really is fantastic. Again - a lot of photos ahead! These were taken in sunlight:

FNUG Fantastica is a light green version of Psychedelic (which is silver holo) and is just as much holographic when it comes to effect. I applied it over a coat of FNUG Aqua Fix Base Coat. The application was easy and not patchy at all. If you're a holo lover and you like to wear holographic polishes, I'd definitely recommend you to get this base coat. It's wonderful. If you read my post on FNUG Psychedelic, then you already know it all: small-ish brush with great performance, thin formula, 2 coats for full opacity and a holographic effect to die for.

Weekly Sum-Up #42

I hate Sundays. There, I said it. I can't say what it is about them, but I hate them even more than Mondays. For real. I've always liked Thursdays though. And what's your favorite day of the week?

Catrice is the focus of my attention now that I've bought most of the Essence polishes. I wore How I Matt Your Mother this week and I was pleasantly surprised it didn't chip on me the first second of wearing it. First I wore it without top coat...

... and later I added some Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.
Catrice How I Matt Your Mother

I found some old Catrice polishes in my local drugstore - old Catrice polish shade called Forget Me Not with old type of brush. Yay! It was a pleasure to apply this one. If everything goes as planned, you'll see a review of this polish in the next week.

Book! Oh, how I missed thee! My last book was George Martin's and it's hard to read anything else once you read his books. I still gave it a try. Harland Coben, No Second Chance. Thriller. Just started reading it and I'm already half way through it.
Harlan Coben No Second Chance

American Horror Story season II. In this season the story takes place in an asylum in 1964. The characters are different, but some of the actors remain the same (Jessica Lange and Evan Peters). I think I might like this season even more than the first one based on the first episode.

This is the biggest spider I've seen so far - in nature. It was about 5 cm long and quite impressive. =) I could even see his eyes (4 of them). Wanted to touch him too, but I chickened out.

My BF bought me this Vampire Teeth Necklace in Claire's in Graz long time ago and I forgot to post about it. It's missing one tooth, but I still like it.

Today I finished my DIY Studded Boots. I purchased some pyramid and spike studs via Ebay and bedazzled my boring black riding boots. I don't know about your taste in boots, but I think they rock. Hee hee

Posts of the week:

Here's something for the lipstick lovers who hate 'bleeding lips'. Ommorphia Beauty Bar posted about the new No Bleeding Lips Secret Lip Liner. Check out her review and swatches of the Essie Winter 2012 Collection as well.

Spooky Splatter Nails Tutorial by Chalkboard Nails. Perfect for Halloween.

New lemming of mine, thanks to Le Petit Jardin de Liloo: Diamond Dust by Rimmel. There used to be Rimmel displays in our stores, but aren't anymore... *sigh*

The Polished Perfectionist's photos of a England Tess d'Ubervilles. See that green sparkle I was talking about? Beautiful!

Lojs from Confusion Bay did an amazing Pop Art Make Up. Her eyes! OMG, her eyes!

Feline from Alizarine Claws posted swatches of some of the shades from Depend Fall 2012 collection. The first one is my favorite.

My favorite swatches of the Zoya Ornate Collection were posted by Chelsea from The Nail Network. Aurora, Blaze and Logan - my three favorites. Later Scrangie posted her swatches and I was amazed again - Zoya Ornate by Scrangie

THIS IS AMAZING! Galaxy Drip manicure by Coewless Nail Polish Blog. This is 'I lost my jaw somewhere on the floor and my eyes poped out of their sockets' type of amazing.

OPI always comes out with the most boring collections but every once in a while, they get it right. Tomorrow Never Dies is gorgeous. But then again, everything looks great on nailXchange
