As weird as it may sound coming from a nail polish blogger, there is such a thing as having too much nail polish. At first I stored them in pretty boxes, but they 'multiplied' until I had 4 full boxes and another shelf and a table overflown with nail polish bottles. It was time to do something about it. The first step was to get rid of some of them. That's why I had a blog sale (BTW: a lot of polishes are still available). My next step was awesome because it included a trip to Graz Austria where I went to Ikea and bought me a pretty red Helmer. Yeah, there are no Ikea stores in Slovenia. Boooo!

Helmer fits perfectly under my table and I love the way my polish is organized now. Plus, there's room for more polishes now since these drawers are bigger than my old boxes. My lower drawer is full of purple and pink pretties.

Second drawer from the bottom holds green and blue polishes. I have a feeling this drawer will soon be full considering my growing love for these shades.

Third drawer holds white, black, silver, grey, orange, red and coral shades. Big enough for all of them.

Fourth drawer contains special polishes like holos, duochromes, layering polishes, stamping shades and glitters.

Fifth drawer holds some of my make up products and nail files. And there's one more free drawer - just in case. =)

I know I'm probably one of few bloggers who was helmer-less until now, but for those who don't know: Helmer can be bought in Ikea stores for 24,99 €. I had to put it together myself, but it wasn't too hard. I had to use an electric drill to screw the bottom screws on, but it was otherwise pretty easy. I love my Helmer and I recommend it. Period.
Do you own a Helmer? Or better yet, how many Helmers do you own? =D
Thanks for looking and commenting!

LOL! You are probably the only other nail addict that stores by color. Most of the bloggers I see store by brand; I store by color also. I don't have a Helmer, but I do have 3 "Melmers"-Michael's JetMax Storage units.
ReplyDeleteI find my polishes faster if I store them this way. It's better for me. =)
Delete:D Congrats on your first Helmer! Take care... they multiply in a miraculous way. I have two red Helmers under my desk.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I already said to myself I won't buy a new Helmer for nail polishes. I really shouldn't have so many they wouldn't fit into one Helmer. Maybe I'll buy another one for my make up, but we'll see. =)
DeleteTell me about it -_- I have 1,5 Helmer full of nail polishes. I will never ever go to a cosmetic fair again.
DeleteOh, so great drawer, I'd like one :D
ReplyDeletethis is amazing! I want a helmer <3
ReplyDeletei've got two white ones, one for make-up and the other for my polishes.. i do need a 2nd one for my polishes though XD
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm not a blogger, but I've been dreaming of one of these for ages! Too bad there's no Ikea - or the like - where I live in Brazil. When I find something similar it's incredibly expensive. =/ But I won't give up on my search.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if it wasn't for Ikea, I doubt I would own something like this. These type of drawers are quite expensive in other stores.
DeleteI own two. They're nowhere close to full, but I wanted to have separate drawers for each color family, and I keep my swatchy sticks in a drawer divider in the front of each drawer. Okay... I do have two drawers that are pretty much completely full... the ones with glitter topcoats, and the one with special polishes, like pricier brands, magnetics, duochromes, and glitter bombs.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear I'm not the only one with a 'special polishes' drawer. =D
DeleteI don't have a Helmer yet, but I really need one as I've got boxes full of polish too, but I keep spending the money on polish instead! :-D
ReplyDeleteI've read that a lot of nail polish addicts have these lol. And it must be for a good reason. I think there's not a single Ikea store in Latinamerica but i'll keep my eyes open when i go to USA in february because my collection grows everyday and i have no plans of stopping lol.
ReplyDeleteGood, Helmer in Italy now costs more than €31 :(
ReplyDeleteLuckily I bought my two some time ago :D
Anyway, I'd like to add you can put it up also with a "normal" screwdriver, not necessarily an electric one, that's how I did :>
Damn... I bet if there was Ikea in Slovenia, we'd have to pay more too. Although our salaries are almost 50% lower than in Austria.
DeleteGreat storage. I have Alex, Ikea too, and for me its great for all my make up and nail polishes. But, I organized my polishes by brend.
ReplyDeleteI've been eye-ing Alex too, but decided for Helmer at the end. =)
DeleteI have the exact same one, I had bought it for makeup at first but know I use it only for polishes since my collection started to grow. I think it is the perfect nail storage! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI keep my polishes in a Helmer too! I had some trouble with the hole size, and I can't get one of the wheels on lol... but I still think it's the best :) I only have one. I told myself that if I ever get to a point where all my polishes don't fit in it, I will be time to get rid of some polishes lol!!!
ReplyDeleteThose holes at the bottom of the Helmer caused me some troubles... I couldn't screw them on by hand with a screwdriver, I just had to use an electric drill. Try it, it must work!
DeleteI have one Helmer(which is about €47 in Norway)...I'm afraid to buy a new one, because I really don't need more polishes. xD
ReplyDeleteWOW, that's a huge price difference. I know what you mean. I'll probably buy another Helmer soon, but I don't need new polishes either.
DeleteYou have a lot less polish than I expected!
ReplyDeleteI need a helmer, but I have a melmer (basically a mini-helmer). It's overflowing!
I didn't show the ones on my blog sale. =) But yes, I try to keep my collection small.
DeleteSo jealous of you :) (that's a compliment btw) all my polishes are just thrown into one drawer and not organised at all.....maybe I should change that :)
ReplyDeleteHee hee, whatever works for you. =) I find this organization best to find my polishes as fast as possible.
DeleteI have a red one like you. The only thing I don't like about it is how the drawers can't hold themselves up when you draw them out.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It bothers me too, but on the other hand, if the drawer had a 'stopper' then we wouldn't be able to pull it out completely. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect. =)
DeleteYay for a Helmer, but I would get nervous storing them by color ;)! Funny to see how we all use the thing differently!
ReplyDeleteI am still Helmer-free as well, BUT that is about to change,
ReplyDeletehowever, i think i am gonna need 2. I am opting for the white or silver ones,
as they will have to match the bedroom.
Boyfriend insisted on that much.
Unfortunately, the Helmer is 29,95 here in the Netherlands.
A trip to Graz would be nice, but i don't think it will level out with the gas for the car.
I am enjoying the Polishes i got in your blogsale and have got a few comments about them.
I linked to your page in my latest blogpost concerning my recent purchases,
among those was your blogsale. If you mind, i will remove the link.
I wanted a silver one too, but they only had white and red...
DeleteI don't mind you posting about the polishes you purchased via my blog. It's your blog and you can write whatever you want. I just hope there wasn't anything wrong with them. =)
Maybe the one reader that reads my blog will hop to yours.
DeleteThere was absolutely nothing wrong with the polishes at all, i LOVE them!!!
The red suits you so well! I also just got my first Helmer for Christmas, but since there are no IKEAs in the state where I live my best friend brought one for me when she visited because they do have IKEAs in her state. At the moment, my drawers are sorted by brand. I thought it was a great idea that you put little storage baskets in some of the drawers for the smaller stuff.
ReplyDeleteI just got a Helmer a couple weeks ago! Before I was using the storage units from Michaels. I had two of them, and my polish was just BURSTING at the seams. I was storing them on top of eachother....it was a mess! I'm still using one "Melmer". I actually thought getting a Helmer would help with the storage since it's 6 drawers instead of 3 on the "Melmers". I was hoping to have storage for all my nail art and care stuffs, but alas, not enough room! I LOVE it though, and hope to one day have one for makeup storage.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection Sasha. I too thought you had a lot more lacquers than you show. I am afraid to admit I have 3 helmers full of polish and about 3 drawers full of nail stuff!! I also file my polish by colour as it is so easy to find.
ReplyDeleteHi! I have two Helmers, also red ^^ The best of Ikea... )))
ReplyDeleteYay for Helmers!
ReplyDeleteI own two (white) Helmers for nail polish and I think I could fill a third one... *blushes* But I dont have space for a third one. So I store the other nail polishes in boxes. (And I try to stop buying so much nail polish... "try" - haha!)
As I bought my first Helmer then I startet to sort by colour, too. Later I sorted them by brand as my collection grows bigger...
