This is my not so recent Ebay buy and I wasn't sure whether to post about it or not. Until today. Why not. I share my good and not so good buys with you and this one is somewhere in the middle. I wanted EcoTools Bamboo 6 Piece Eye Brush Set for quite a while. The prices here in Slovenia are ridiculous - 12 € for a set that costs 8 USD (~ 6 €) online. That's half the price. And that's also the main reason I bought the set online instead of going to my local drug store. At the time I haven't even imagined of receiving a fake set. I know there are MAC fakes, but Ecotools. I had no idea. This is the brush set I received.
I'm not sure anymore what was the reason that got me thinking it might be a fake set. I belive it was a comparison of the pouch and it's logo with some other pouch I've seen on the internet. I did a little googling, wondering if they changed the logo style, and there you go. I found a great post on Street Love on How to check if your Ecotools brush set is fake. There was my proof. My eye brush set is a fake.
The logo wasn't the only sign of it's fakeness. It was basically everything the post above mentioned. Everything from the label on the packaging, label on the pouch and the burnt-on logo.
The damage has already been done and I could have just thrown my fake set in the garbage, but I wanted to try it out first. OK, the quality of the brush handles and the logo... it was off. On the other hand, the bristles were so soft and silky. I used my Sleek Oh So Special Eyeshadow Palette and MUA Mega Volume Mascara and make this eye look. Oh, I also used one other brush - my favorite angled liner brush KIM E131.
Although the brushes are rather poorly made, I really like the softness of the bristles. The brushes are very easy to work with and pick up the eyeshadow well. Blending is easy due to the silkiness of the brushes. I'm almost embarrassed to say I like this set very much. The only thing I miss is the angled liner brush. If it was included in this set, then it would be perfect for traveling and I wouldn't need any other brush for my eye make up.
Have you tried any EcoTools brushes? What are your thoughts on them?
