Review & Giveaway: Unikat by Amadeja

I was recently contacted by Amadeja from Unikat by Amadeja and asked to do a little review of one of her jewellery pieces. I got to pick my favorite piece and Amadeja offered one of her rings for you as well, my dear Readers.

Amadeja offers a variety of rings, necklaces and earrings (also in sets) on her website. All of her jewellery pieces come in pretty gift boxes. She currently ships to Slovenia only, but you can always contact her and ask for international shipping.

I browsed through her website and since I love rings, I chose this gorgeous amazonite ring. At first I was a bit worried the stones would eventually fall of, but I can see now there's no need to worry since the ring is quite sturdy.

Amazonite, a semi-opaque stone that was used extensively by the Egyptians, is called the stone of courage and is said to be named after the Amazon women warriors. Another legend says the name Amazonite comes from the belief that it was found in the Amazon river. (source)

Amazonite is a soothing stone. It calms the brain and nervous system and aids in maintaining optimum health. Balances the masculine and feminine energies. Amazonite helps you to see both sides of a problem or different points of view. It soothes emotional trauma, alleviating worry and fear. Dispels negative energy, aggravation and blockages within the nervous system. Amazonite assists in manifesting universal love. It protects against electromagnetic pollution and absorbs microwaves. (source)

The ring's size is adjustable, so you don't need to worry about your size and you can wear it on different fingers. P.S.: I'm wearing Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Mint Sprint on my nails, in case you're wondering. And a little warning for you - this polish stains like crazy!

Ruby Kisses HD Nail Polish - Midnight Stars

There's really no need for more nail polishes in my collection, but I couldn't resist this Ruby Kisses one. I noticed the interesting shimmer in a dark base, which is basically my favorite type of polish lately, and I was sold. Well, the polish was. I love the name just as much as I love the color - Midnight Stars
Ruby Kisses HD Nail Polish - Midnight Stars

Midnight Stars is a polish shade from the Ruby Kisses HD nail polish line. It comes in a 15 mL bottle which reminds me of Sally Hansen Salon bottles. The polish is packed with olive/golden flecked shimmer in shimmery warm brown base. It's dark, but the shimmer is visible in low light as well.

I must admit I'm always a bit hesitant when buying a nail polish from a brand I do not know well. I did do a 'no-no' and opened the bottle in the store to see the consistency and get a feeling of opacity. I bought the bottle, so I guess it's OK. The formula of this polish is thin and on the runny side - not too much though as it hasn't flooded my cuticles. I used 3 coats for my swatches, but will use 2 for everyday wear. I want you to see how beautiful this polish really is and most of the times camera picks up all the little flaws that aren't really visible in real life.

I bought Ruby Kisses HD Midnight Stars in Müller drugstore for 4.99 €.

a England - Briar Rose (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Here's a second polish from the a England Burne-Jones Dream Collection. This one is called Briar Rose (aka Sleeping Beauty). Have I mentioned Sleeping Beauty is my favorite fairytale?

a England - Briar Rose (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Briar Rose is a reddish pink (cerise) color with non linear holographic shimmer. The formula was great, as was the application - I used 2 coats for my swatches. I love the fact Adina keeps making these shimmery holo shades and I hope we'll end up with a whole color specter of them. I'm not a big pink nail polish fan, but I do think this one is absolutely stunning.

Outdoors, natural lighting: my photos doesn't do this polish justice. It's hard to capture it's beauty on camera since it's so packed with shimmer... As with other a England shades, you need to see this one in person to really see what it's all about.

Weekly Sum-Up #54

Not much is happening here... I go to work, come home, feel to tired (because of heat) to do anything, go to sleep and go to work again next morning. A vicious circle. I find some time to do the swatches and paint my nails up to 3 times per week, but that's it. Hope it will get better soon.

Well, I do have something new to show you. About a week ago we got a feline visitor. He looked hungry, so I gave him some food. Now he's at our house every morning and evening. Sometimes for a whole day. I don't know whose cat this is, but I bet he has an owner somewhere (since he's a grown cat). Vita likes him and named him Paws. I'm OK with him being here as long as he leaves my cats alone. =)

Lisa. When all of the other cats chill in the sun, Lisa is on the hunt. All the time.

I went to Spielberg three weeks ago for the DTM race. It was cold as hell but I still managed to get a sunburn on my face. That's my luck.

I got a new tattoo around my old-er tattoo.

I don't have any posts this time. I was just to busy to read the blogs regularly and when I finally found some time, it was too much of them to choose from. I do have a music video for you thought. Enjoy!

Here's a quick and easy nail art tutorial perfect for summer - Sea Waves.
How To: Sea Waves Manicure

Things you'll need:
* light, medium and dark blue nail polish (I used Barry M in Cobalt, Blueberry and Blackberry.)

How To: Sea Waves Manicure

1 - Apply your medium blue nail polish. Allow it to dry completely.

2 - Cut a piece of tape with your wavy scissors and place the tape on the middle of your nail.

3 - Paint the nail on the both sides of the tape: with lighter blue polish on one and darker on the other side. Take the tweezers and carefully remove the tape while the polish is still wet.

Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

I'm only halfway done with the Dance Legend polishes. I still have 11 more shades to share with you and today it's time for Amethyst
Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

Amethyst belongs to the Sahara Crystal collection along with Caravan and 22 other shades. It looks like red glitter dispensed in a dark base in the bottle, but it's actually purple when applied to the nails. It's funny how different it is on the nails and in the bottle. Like two totally different polishes.
Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

Dance Legend, Amethyst, 2 coats
Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

Amethyst must be the prettiest 'sanding effect'/textured nail polish I've seen. It's dark and bright (thanks to the shimmery glitter) at the same time and it dries into a rough finish. The application was OK and the brush is great (flat brushes FTW!). It dries fast and the removal wasn't a complete pain in the ass.
Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

I tried Amethyst with a top coat - just because this purple is to good for words. It looks magical in a glossy finish, but it's very hard to achieve a complete glass-like look. I used two generous layers of top coat over it and it was still rough and somewhat gritty.
Dance Legend - Amethyst (Sahara Crystal)

Without and with top coat. I used Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer.

You can buy this polish on Dance Legend online store for 9.00 USD. Check out their Facebook page for more information.

a England - Sleeping Palace (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Burne-Jones Dream is a new a England nail polish collection. It consists of five holographic shimmery shades: Briar Rose (pink-ish), Fated Prince (green-ish grey), Rose Bower (red), Sleeping Palace (purple) and Briarwood (maroon - coming soon). I got four of them to swatch and review and I can say Adina definitely knows what she's doing. The 'not so in your face' non linear holographic shimmer she puts in her shades are like her signature to me... Although the holo effect isn't as strong as in some other holographic shades, a England polishes don't look boring when the light isn't hitting them (unlike with so many other holos). My instant favorite from the four shades was Sleeping Palace. The name, the color. Perfection!

Sleeping Palace is (as I mentioned above) a muted purple shade with holographic shimmer. It's quite opaque and could also be a 1-coater for some ladies. I used 2 coats for my swatches. The formula is nice and so was the application. It's like with other a England polishes - consistant quality. Sleeping Palace looks like a deep shimmery shade in low light and when the sun hits it, it starts to twinkle. It looks a lot better in real life than it does on my photos. If you're into shades like this one, get it, I bet your won't be sorry.

Fragrance Direct Purchase

I read a bunch of good reviews for Tigi Bed Head After Party and I wanted to have it. It was quite cheap (compared to salon prices here in Slovenia) on Fragrance Direct, so I ordered it online. Along with a bunch of lipstick I'll probably never wear/use. I like to buy lipstick, but when it comes to wearing them - fail. At least they were cheap. Althought I really need to get my buying urges under control.
Fragrance Direct Purchase

For those of you who have experiences with Tigi After Party, I would be happy to get your opinion about it. It's just like with so many other things - it's important that I have it, although I'm not sure what to use it for or how. Any advice?

Aaand swatches of the lipsticks. Playboy one is my least favorite, but I really like the CK ones and Maybelline Mauve Diamonds. And of course the Rimmel by Kate ones. Not a total miss when it comes to colors, but only if I get myself to wear them too.
