Beauty UK Posh Polish Grit FX - Printworks

My love for gritty nail polish is in full bloom. I wore Beauty UK Printworks from the Posh Polish Grit FX line the other day and it performed beautifully.

I'm sceptic when it comes to wearing gritty/matte nail polish because it usually chips on me almost immediately after application. This time it was different. I wore it for 4 days without any troubles and no top coat. I have to add it must partly be due to my biotin capsules - my nails don't peel as much now and hence the polish stays put. I love every single thing about this nail polish. The application was great, the formula is very good, it dries fast, it looks interesting and it lasts. Love!

What about your experiences with gritty nail polish? Do you also find it chips faster than regular polish?

a England - Rose Bower (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Here's the last polish shade from the newest a England collection called Burne-Jones Dream. This one is named Rose Bower. You can check out swatches of the other four shades HERE
a England - Rose Bower (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

a England, Rose Bower, 2 coats
a England - Rose Bower (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Rose Bower is a red shade with scattered holographic shimmer. The formula of this one was superb and so was the application. I used 2 coats for my swatches, but it could also be a 1-coater. I love the consistency of a England polishes when it comes to quality. You just can't go wrong with these and Burne-Jones Dream Collection is a complete hit. My favorite is still Sleeping Palace (because of the color), but they're all very nice when it comes to color, brush, formula and opacity. It's always so exciting to see what Adina comes up with... hope we'll see another collection soon. =)

The following two photos show Rose Bower in natural lighting. It comes alive when the light/sun hits it. Gorgeous, isn't it?

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013: Celebrating the Year of the Blogger

This year's piCture pOlish Blog Fest (#ppblogfest2013) is all about the bloggers and celebrating what bloggers do. So, what are we waiting for? Let's start the celebration!

All bloggers who participate in piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013 were provided with 3 piCture pOlish nail polish shades. The challenge was to create the 'most amazing nail art manicure ever'. With all three PP shades, of course. Here are the shades I got: Sunset (coral neon), Sky (pastel blue creme) and Denim (dusty blue with shimmer and flakies).
piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013

This is the manicure I've created with piCture pOlish shades Sunset, Sky and Denim.
piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013 Nail Art

If you're interested in how to re-create this manicure, here's a step by step tutorial for you:
piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013 Nail Art

1 - Paint your nails with white nail polish and wait for it to dry. White base will make the colors really pop.

2 - Take a piece of sponge and paint the colors on.

3 - Sponge the colors onto your nails. Use a q-tip dipped in acetone/nail polish remover to clean-up your cuticles.

4 - Stamp a pattern on your nails with black stamping nail polish. I used Konad image plate m60. Add top coat and you're done.

A challenge wouldn't be the same without the awards. All nail art creations go into the running to be chosen to create a collaboration shade with piCture pOlish launched in 2014 (only for the bloggers who don't have a PP collaboration shade yet). There are 3 awards that will be voted and chosen via piCture pOlish special Pinterest Blog Fest 2013 board:

- one award voted by PP friends and fans
- one award voted by the participants of Blog Fest 2013
- and the last award voted by Jules and Megs of piCture pOlish

Review: LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

I tested another 4 LUSH products and this time I've decided to show them in separate posts. First up is Ro's Argan Body Conditioner and here's what LUSH says about it:
''A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Ro knows good rose and her nose knows it! Packed full of ingredients to feed and nourish the skin; argan oil, cocoa butter, cupuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and fair trade shea butter. We didn’t think there was any room left after all those ingredients – but we just managed to squeeze in some goji berry juice in here too.'' (Lush)
Quantitative Ingredients: Spring Water, Glycerine, Almond Oil, Cypress Leaf Infusion, Brazil Nut Oil, Vanilla Pod Infusion, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Stearic Acid, Argan Oil, Cupuacu Butter, Perfume, Triethanolamine, Cocoa Butter, Goji Berry Juice, Rose Absolute, Rose Oil, Geranium Oil, Lemon Oil, *Limonene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben *occurs naturally in essential oils

(Lush)
LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

I wasn't completely sure how Ro's Argan Body Conditioner would work, since it's the first body conditioner I've tried so far. Well, it's also the only one I've seen until Nivea recently came out with the In-Shower Body Moisturizer which works and is used in the same way as Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. So, how does one use a body conditioner? It's very simple - just like you use a hair conditioner. You first take a shower and while your skin is still wet apply the RABC all over your body. Rinse and lightly towel the skin dry. As simple as that.

LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

The consistency of the body conditioner I got doesn't look much like the one on Lush website. Mine is very liquidy and looks a lot like yogurt. It has a funky smell... not bad at all, but weird and hard to describe (that's why I won't even try). When you sniff the conditioner straight from the tub it's pretty strong, but after you use it, the skin smells divine. Simply divine. And the performance? My skin feels so soft and nourised after I use Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. It's no wonder it works so well, just look at the ingredients list: almond oil, brazil nut oil, argan oil, shea butter, cupuacu butter, cocoa butter, rose oil, geranium oil... It's a bomb! I also find the use of this conditioner a lot easier compared to body lotions. It's quicker and I don't have to wait for the lotion to absorb (I hate the feeling of sticky skin right after the lotion application).

LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

My thoughts on Ro's Argan Body Conditioner: this is a wonderful product. I can't name any downside of it and I would use it every day if I could - the fact is it's pretty expensive and I only use it on special occasions. =) You can buy Ro's Argan Body Conditioner in Lush stores for $32.95 (7.9 oz.) or £15.50 (225 g).

Review & Swatches: Born Pretty Store - March Nail Lacquer #7

Here's the cutest little nail polish bottle - March Nail Lacquer from Born Pretty Store. I admit the look of the bottle had a lot to do with me wanting it in the first place, but the color isn't bad either. The perfect spring green. Sadly this polish doesn't have a name, it only goes by the number 7.

Born Pretty Store - March Nail Lacquer #7

Let me say something about the bottle first. It does look small, but it contains 12 mL of polish, so it's actually not that tiny. The bow on the brush handle is looks like a hair tie and can be removed. If you're into this look and matching your hair ties with your polish, this is great for you. I liked the formula and application of this polish. The brush is flat, small and very nice as well. The only thing I didn't like is the poor opacity. This shade is jelly looking and isn't 100% opaque with 3 coats. Too bad, I love pretty much everything else about it.
Born Pretty Store - March Nail Lacquer #7

You can buy March Nail Lacquer on Born Pretty Store for $7.29 (there are 12 different shades available). If you're planning on buying from Born Pretty Store, here's a 10% off code for you - SSG10. It's also in the sidebar.

Silver-Washed Fritillary (Argynnis Paphia)

Look who I met. It's a Silver-Washed Fritillary.
''The Silver-Washed Fritillary butterfly is deep orange with black spots on the upper side of its wings, and has a wingspan of 54–70 mm, with the male being smaller and paler than the female. The underside is green, and, unlike other fritillaries, has silver streaks instead of silver spots, hence the name silver-washed.
Argynnis (ex Dryas) paphia is a common and variable butterfly found over much of the Palaearctic ecozone – Algeria, Europe, temperate Asia and Japan.'' (source)

Dance Legend - Optical Illusion (New Prism)

Summertime is perfect for wearing holographic nail polish. You just have to make sure not to blind someone with it. Dance Legend holo polishes from the New Prism line are one of the best (in my humble opinion) and the photos will show you why. This one is called Optical Illusion
Dance Legend - Optical Illusion (New Prism)

Dance Legend, Optical Illusion, 2 coats
Dance Legend - Optical Illusion (New Prism)

Optical Illusion is a purple-ish pink shade with strong holographic shimmer. It's opaque in two coats and the application was a breeze. The formula is awesome, like with all the other Dance Legend polishes I've tried so far. You could already see Optical Illusion in my Essence Soak Up the Sun + Dance Legend Optical Illusion post, but I wanted to show it on it's own as well. It's truly a wonderful polish and if you haven't tried Dance Legend polishes yet, I strongly suggest you do. You won't regret it.
Dance Legend - Optical Illusion (New Prism)

The holographic polishes really come alive on the sun. The effect is amazing and it doesn't disappoint.

a England - Fated Prince (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

He comes to the rescue! Here's Fated Prince from a England Burne-Jones Dream Collection.
a England - Fated Prince (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

a England - Fated Prince (Burne-Jones Dream Collection)

Fated Prince is the more toned-down member of the Burne-Jones Dream Collection, but far from being boring. Base is gunmetal grey which flashes green due to holographic shimmer we all love so much in a England shades. The formula, brush and application were great and it took 2 coats of Fated Prince for full opacity. You can see how it changes in different lighting - sometimes you can see the green tones in the polish (photos above), sometimes it's more of a shimmery gunmetal grey (two photos below) and when the light hits it just right - hello, magic (last two photos).

piCture pOlish - Blogger

The polish I'm about to show you today comes from a land down under and is dedicated to all nail bloggers. Of course, it's piCture pOlish time!
''‘Indie-esque’ glitter creation. Blogger is jam packed with multi coloured glitters and has a very thick consistency. Full coverage with one to two coats with no base colour.'' (piCture pOlish)
piCture pOlish - Blogger

Blogger is really packed with glitter as you can see on this color drop. Hexagons in two different sizes and all the colors of the rainbow.
piCture pOlish - Blogger

piCture pOlish, Blogger, 2 coats (over Essence Nude It)
piCture pOlish - Blogger

piCture pOlish - Blogger

piCture pOlish claims this polish is opaque in 1 or 2 coats without the base color, but I still applied a nude base (Essence Nude It) to my nails prior painting them with Blogger. I used 2 coats for the swatches, but I did only use the usual application technique (by swiping the brush along the nail). You can also apply it with dabbing the glitter on your nails if you prefer it that way. The glitter will definitely look more dense with the dabbing technique. The formula of Blogger is very nice and since there's a LOT of glitter in the clear base, you won't need to fish for it. If you're into this look, you'll most probably like it.

Preview: Essence New in Town Trend Edition

I cannot say this is a groundbreaking trend edition, but at least I see some nice products for everyday make up. I actually like everything in this collection. No love-at-first-sight or must-have items, but still. I'd like to try the darker Crystal Eyeliner (althought I think I've seen it before), Metal Glam eyeshadows look beautiful (they'd be great as a quad), I already enjoy the Get Big Lashes mascara (in Volume Curl version) and I'll definitely try the ultra black version, that black sand effect polish has my attention and the lipsticks + blush look adorable. All in all, I can say I'm pretty excited about this one.

What about you? Do you see anything you like?

Swatches and Review: Beauty UK Posh Polish Grit FX Collection

There's a brand new addition to the Beauty UK Posh Polish range. It's called Grit FX collection and it consists of 6 shades with sand texture finish.
''Grit FX - the newest addition to the range features fine "sand" particles that give a textured finish for an unique, gritty urban look.'' (Beauty UK)
I got the chance to test them all by swatching them for a slovenian online store Ličila.si. And I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Beauty UK polishes are usually a hit or miss for me and these ones are a complete hit! Every single one of them.

The formula of these polishes is great and although the brush is small and round the application didn't cause me any troubles. It was actually quite nice. All shades are opaque in 2 coats, Birdcage and Printworks might even work well as 1-coaters. The 'weakest' shade from the collection is Fabric (when it comes to opacity) but the difference isn't that obvious in real life.

Shoreditch was my immediate favorite - I just can't resist a good electric blue shade - closely followed by Printworks and Banksy. Oh, what the hell, I love them all. =)

Which one is your favorite? Do you like gritty polishes?
