Review & Swatches: Born Pretty Store - Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish #7

It's been a while since my last experience with color changing nail polish and now is time for a new one. Here's Ylin Mood Color Changing nail polish in #7 from Born Pretty Store.
Born Pretty Store - Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish #7

Ylin Mood Color Changing nail polish comes in a small round bottle (I can't say how many mL are in the bottle, because it doesn't say) and you can see the colors polish changes from and to - as you can see on my color drop below, the polish isn't homogeneous. I shook it, but it wouldn't mix. The colors are more warm toned in real life.

Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish, #7, 3 coats
Born Pretty Store - Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish #7

Like I mentioned above, the polish wouldn't mix, no matter how much I shook it. So I just applied it like it was. The formula was weird: somewhat goopy and sticky. It wasn't that hard to apply (considering the weird consistency), but it was patchy looking after two coats so I used 3 for my swatches. It dried semi-matte, that's why I used a coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer over it. It still didn't look too glossy with a top coat (which I think is pretty strange). I should also mention the scent of this polish, which is basically nonexistent.

My nails are too short, so I can't show you both colors on my nails at the same time, but I can show you how it looks when your nails/fingers are cold...
Born Pretty Store - Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish #7

...and when they're warm. Color changes from nice periwinkle to aqua blue. And all the shades in between. I love the colors, but I'm not too fond of the polish quality. I'd love it if it was glossier and formula could definitely be better, but if you're into the color changing effect... I guess it's all worth it.
Born Pretty Store - Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish #7

Those of you with longer nails (nails that have free edge) could be able to see both colors on your nails at the same time. I bet it looks pretty amazing in this color combination. =)

Dance Legend - Malta #92

I can say I saved the best for last when it comes to Dance Legend's Malta nail polish line. The Malta polish in #92 is my favorite from the collection, but I'll let you decide for yourself. You can see the other two out of 12 shades I swatched HERE
Dance Legend Malta #92

Malta #92 nail polish is a little chameleon. Sometimes it looks dark brown, sometimes maroon and the other times, it's almost pure plum shade. I've noticed that my bottle of polish looks a bit different from swatches on the web. Mine looks darker and more on the purple side. Not sure what's up with that. It contains small bronze shimmer which makes this shade what it is - a very unique and pretty looking polish.

I was once more blown away by the quality of Dance Legend polishes. Wonderful formula and great brush result in easy and almost flawless application. Drying time was short and the opacity is high. Once the polish dries, the finish isn't the most glossy one, but you can always apply a layer of top coat if you want to. This one is another winner and definitely a keeper.

a England - Love is Enough (Heavenly Quotes Collection)

Here's another shade from the a England Heavenly Quotes collection. Love is Enough is the 4th shade of the collection along with And the Moonbeams..., She Walks in Beauty and Beauty Never Fails.

a England - Love is Enough (Heavenly Quotes Collection)

Love is Enough is an absolutely gorgeous olive green shade packed with golden shimmer. It sounds simple, but there's more to it. The shimmer reflects green, gold, bronze and even pink. The combination of colors makes it look rich and almost like aged gold. The formula of this polish is impeccable and the application was easy. It's a bit sheer after one coat, but a slightly thicker second one takes care of that.
a England - Love is Enough (Heavenly Quotes Collection)

Love is Enough is quite a chameleon. My old compact camera picked up the golden shimmer in the polish...

piCture pOlish - Hope by Vernis en Folie

It looks like all of the piCture pOlish shades I'm showing you lately are in shades of blue. Here's another one called Hope. It's another collaboration shade created with Be from Vernis en Folie
piCture pOlish - Hope by Vernis en Folie
''Hope was created with Be from Vernis en Folie. Inspiration: the impending birth of her little girl in 2013 (she has now arrived). Hope is a dark teal green/blue jelly holo (scattered) with a subtle smattering of cobalt glitter designed to come alive with a little shake of the bottle.'' (piCture pOlish)

piCture pOlish, Hope, 3 coats
piCture pOlish - Hope by Vernis en Folie

Hope is (as the description on piCture pOlish website says) a dark Oxford blue jelly with scattered holographic shimmer and cobalt hexagonal glitter. I used 3 coats for my swatches, but two could be enough for everyday wear - it all depends on the thickness of the layers. I didn't have any problems with the application and I didn't have to fish for the glitter. There's nothing bad to say about this one. It's an interesting color, it applies nicely and it dries relatively fast.

I took another photo of Hope outdoors. It really does sparkle from the inside. If you own a PP polish with the scattered holo shimmer, you know what I'm talking about.

Here's a bonus photo. I'm not sure which species of butterflies this one belongs to, but it's pretty nonetheless. And it posed for me so shamelessly...

New is Always Better

You know that Barney Stinson rule about new always being better? Well, I have new photos of Essence nail polish from the Show Your Feet line called Kiss of the Mermaid. You've already seen it on my blog more than once, but I just can't help it. I wear it all the time.
Essence Show Your Feet Kiss of the Mermaid

My nails are getting longer without breaking all the time. Those biotin capsules I told you about are really working. =) Another thing that also worked for me was wearing NailTek Foundation II as a base coat all the time, but it made my nails yellow, so it's not my favorite choice anymore. Plus, it's faster to just apply nail polish and skipping the base coat ceremony.
Essence Show Your Feet Kiss of the Mermaid

I've had the luck and pleasure to photograph Inachis Io aka The European Peacock almost two years ago and I was lucky again this year. This one was flawless. What a beauty!
Inachis Io - The European Peacock

I bet this colorful pattern could inspire a manicure or two. What do you think?

Frog Fest

My BF and I went to the pond last weekend and I took some photos of the creatures that live there. Frogs aren't my favorite animals (I actually get goose bumps when I think of the big ones I've seen) but they are quite fascinating little creatures. I hope none of you has ranidaphobia aka fear of frogs. And if you do, don't look ... =)

Review: Born Pretty Store SpongeBob Squarepants Water Nail Decals

Water decals are a nice and easy way to make your manicure more interesting. Applying water decals to the nails doesn't require a lot of time or practice and pretty much anyone can do it. I got these über cute SpongeBob Squarepants Water Decals from Born Pretty Store and I couldn't wait to try them on.
Born Pretty Store SpongeBob Squarepants Nail Water Decals

Admit it, SpongeBob rules! ''With IMAGINATION I can be anything I want''. Hee hee, that's my favorite SpongeBob quote. On a different, but not unrelated, note - I own a SB pillow. That means I'm kind of a fan. I think.
SpongeBob Squarepants

Using water decals is very easy:

1 - Apply nail polish to your nails and allow it to dry. That will be the base for your water decals.

2 - Cut out the decals and remove the plastic film. Dip the decals into water and wait for 10-20 seconds.

3 - Dip your nail into the water and apply the water decal to the wet fingernail. Soak up the water from fingernail with a paper towel and let the decal to dry completely.

4 - Apply top coat.

I used Uma Cosmetics Rolling in the Sun as my base. I had to apply 4 coats of this yellow polish to level it out, but it was worth it. SpongeBob's little faces fit perfectly on it. I applied a coat of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer to finish it up.

I think I'll use water nail decals more often from now on. They're so simple to use and the results are amazing. I used non-acetone nail polish remover to remove the decals from my nails: just like with regular nail polish. Yeah, I think I'm a fan of not only SpongeBob, but of water decals as well.

Review: LUSH Ultrabalm

Do you like to use vaseline (and vaseline like products), but don't like the ingredients which include petroleum jelly? Then LUSH Ultrabalm is the perfect solution for you. It's 100% natural (yeah, I know, petroleum jelly is natural too, but in a different kind of way) and suitable for vegans as well.
''Our moisturizing, all-purpose balm is made with plant waxes and nothing else. No petroleum jelly, no mineral oils - just natural goodness. Ultrabalm is versatile because we keep it simple, with only three naturally effective ingredients. We also believe in using the best quality organic, fair trade and vegan (whenever possible) ingredients in our products. Our mix of candelilla wax and organic jojoba oil is a vegan alternative to beeswax; it creates a protective barrier on the skin and locks in moisture, while rose wax soothes irritations. Apply to scrapes to relieve discomfort, to tame flyaway hair, or even as a lip balm.'' (LUSH USA)
Ingredients: Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis), Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera), Rose Wax (Rosa Damascena).

(LUSH SI)
LUSH Ultrabalm

Ultrabalm comes in a 45 g (1.4 oz) tin jar. It has a waxy scent (which is not my favorite, to be honest) and can be used pretty much all over your body. It melts at body temperature, which makes the application easy. I used Ultrabalm on my lips at evenings, on my cuticles, on my healed tattoo to freshen it up, on dry patches... and I bet it will come in even more handy once the winter comes. I've read some reviews of Ultrabalm on MakeUp Alley and it turns out some people swear by it. It's not a miracle product for me personally, but it surely is a very nice multi-purpose item to carry around in my bag.

LUSH Ultrabalm

You can buy Ultrabalm in Lush stores for ~ $13.95/ £8.50/ €13.45. Prices vary from country to country.

Dance Legend - Robots vs Humans (New Prism)

Here's my last Dance Legend New Prism holographic shade I have to show you. It's name is Robots vs Humans. Cool name, right?
Dance Legend - Robots vs Humans (New Prism)

Robots vs Humans is a warm brown (chestnut) shade with linear holographic shimmer which is just as strong as in other Dance Legend holo shades from the New Prism collection. I'm not too fond of wearing warm browns like this one, but my sister, who's warm toned, loves it. And she's not even that into the holo madness. Yeah, I think it's a great shade for warm natural shade lovers.
Dance Legend - Robots vs Humans (New Prism)

Dance Legend, Robots vs Humans, 2 coats
Dance Legend - Robots vs Humans (New Prism)

Two coats of Robots vs Humans are enough for full opacity. You can also apply it over a creme polish of similar shade in which case one coat will do the trick. The application was easy and the polish dried fast. I already mentioned in my previous posts that I like the flat Dance Legend brush as well. You can't really go wrong with DL polishes.
