Review: El Corazon Confetti 530a [via Hypnotic Polish]

Before I show you this unique beauty, let me say a few words on a brand new online store dedicated to offering a unique selection of nail polish brands. Hypnotic Polish is based in Netherlands and it offers a variety of interesting nail polish brands like: El Corazon, Dance Legend, A England, Glitter Gal, Rainbow Honey, Mint, Smitten Polish, Contrary Polish, Pretty Serious, Shimmer Polish and Delush Polish. And the best part - they ship worldwide!

The shop is only open on Facebook at the moment, but the real deal is coming soon... so, let's see some pretty polishes while we wait.

Don't let the name El Corazon (heart) fool you (like it fooled me). It's not a Spanish brand of nail polish, but a Russian one. I don't know much about this brand, since it's not available here in Slovenia and their website is pretty much a hot mess (www.elcorazon.ru). I've seen some of their shades on the Russian blogs I follow (those ladies surely know how to paint and photography their nails!), but that's it.

Confetti is a line of high glitter density nail polish shades. They're named with numbers and a letter - 'a' for smaller and 'b' for bigger glitter particles. The formula of the Confetti polishes is said to be 'removal friendly'. Confetti 530a is supposed to resemble granite counter tops, and although it does look like grey granite, it reminds me more of the white noise or TV snow. The particles in this polish are really small... just look at this color drop:

When this polish is used on its own, it needs three coats for full opacity. Two might be enough for some, but I always go one higher when I'm not completely sure. It dries into a semi-matte finish, but it isn't too rough since the glitter particles are so small. One coat of top coat takes care of that, if you prefer glossy look and feel. The formula was great and the application was really easy. The brush was a tiny bit wonky and I had to cut one of the longer bristles off. It's OK now, so I guess it was only one bristle that decided to go nuts. The removal didn't cause me any troubles and I removed it with a regular technique - cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover.

Since I used 3 coats of Confetti 530a for my swatches, I thought of layering it over a similar opaque nail polish shade. I used Diamond Cosmetics in Concrete Jungle and one coat of Confetti 530a. This is what the combo looked like.
