piCture pOIish Blog Fest 2014 Feat. Nail Vinyls

Guess what time it is... It's time for piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2014! I can't believe it's already been more than a year since the last year's Blog Fest. In 2013 we were celebrating the year of the blogger and in 2014 we're having fun with Nail Vinyls. But first things first: let me start with swatches of the beautiful new shade called Eyre from the Opulence Shades collection.

Eyre is a blue (leaning towards blurple) metallic polish with loads of holographic shimmer. It's somewhat of a chameleon (it could fall into the duochrome category) and quite hard to capture on camera in its full beauty. The formula is great to work with and applies very nicely. The polish seems quite sheer after the first coat, but builds up nicely. I used 3 coats for my swatches.

As I mentioned above - this year's piCture pOlish Blog Fest features Nail Vinyls. Nail Vinyls are basically stencils that allow you to do various shapes and patterns on your nails. They come in 11 different shapes and different sizes. I got and used the 'right angle' ones.

I also got two piCture pOlish shades for my Nail Vinyls manicure. The first one is Hot Lips - a hot pink neon creme from the Neon collection. And the second one is Instinct - a bright pastel blue creme which glows under UV light. Instinct is one of the collaboration shades made with Tam from OhMyGoshPolish. Although these two colors aren't very much alike, their formulas are. They both apply very smoothly and are very opaque. Hot lips needs 2 coats for full opacity and Instinct can get away with only 1 coat. Awesome!

How to use Nail Vinyls:

1 - Apply base color and let it dry completely (very important!). You can use fast drying top coat to speed up the drying process.
2 - Remove the Nail Vinyls from the sheet and apply them to the nail. You can use a tweezer for extra precision. Press the Nail Vinyls on the nails to prevent 'nail polish bleeding'.
3 - Apply your second color over the Nail Vinyls. While the polish is still wet, remove the Nail Vinyls from your nails carefully.
4 - Add a layer of top coat and you're done!

Right Angle Nail Vinyls come in 4 different sizes. I used the second biggest ones for my designs. Nail Vinyls are easy to work with and are truly better than any other stencils I've tried. They're soft and thin, but also durable and don't tear. Simple and effective.

piCture pOlish will be retailing a special exclusive 4 pack Nail Vinyls containing ‘Chevrons, Mini Chevrons, Straight & Right Angles’ that were used by all participants this year!
