Review: Pretty Serious - Into Dreams [via Hypnotic Polish]

Pretty Serious is a cosmetic brand from Australia. Their nail polishes are Big 3 free, formaldehyde free, cruelty free and vegan friendly. Awesome enough! You can check out their collections and products on their Pretty Serious website. I got one of their pretties via Hypnotic Polish for review - it's called Into Dreams and it's a part of the In The Night Collection
Pretty Serious Into Dreams

Into Dreams is a warm purple shade with strong magenta shimmer. It looks much cooler on my photos - purples have always been amongst the hard ones to photograph...

As I said, Into Dreams is a tough one to photograph. I tried to capture it outdoors, but there was no sun when I wore it. It's a gorgeous warm purple shade. It looks dark on low light, but doesn't look black due to all the hot pink shimmer in it. It's one of those shades which look like they're lit from within. Very pretty.

The formula was great and although the brush looked a bit bushy at first, it did a great job - the application was easy and precise. Two coats of polish were enough for full opacity. Gorgeous shade and great quality. Can't say anything else but - I recommend this one!

Dance Legend - Boo (Chameleon Collection)

The last but certainly not least from my Dance Legend Chameleon collection - Boo. Remember, I onlyswatched and reviewed 5 of the 7 Chameleon shades. I didn't get Sulley and Wazowski, but you can see them HERE
Dance Legend - Boo (Chameleon Collection)

Boo is a burgundy/copper shade which shifts to orange and green-ish gold. If this shade was a season, it'd definitely be Fall. Warm and pretty.

Outdoors, on sunlight. See how reflective it is? It's packed with autumn shades and it's not too shy about it either.
Dance Legend - Boo (Chameleon Collection)

Once again: great formula and easy application. It needed 3 coats for full opacity. The duochrome effect is very visible and it's also very shiny. Drying time was short and I can't say anything bad about it. Wonderful polish!

Photo of Boo shot indoors on natural lighting. Even without the sun, you'll still get the effect you're supposed to get. I didn't think I'll like this one as much as I do. I'm all about darker colors, but this one got me. =)

Weekly Sum-Up #66

It's been a while, huh? I've been sick again (my sinuses are killing me) ... and I spent most of the time in bed, watching some of the new movies and TV shows. My creativity got lost again. One small drawing a day (the rule I had in my head) didn't work out, but I knew that from the beggining. I'm the one who starts things without finishing them. Guilty.

I did buy myself a calligraphy pen - Pilot Parallel Pen with 3.8 mm and 1.5 mm nib - so there was some 'creativity'... I'm not really good at this. And instead of trying and practicing, I'm probably just gonna give up.

It feels like I've drawn this frog ages ago. I usually limit myself by using only one medium for a drawing. This time, I used so many different ones, I can't even list them all: markers, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, ink, pastels, gel pen... Pretty much anything I could see in my sight.

Movies! I watched the Oscars although I haven't seen the movies at the time (with the exception of Gravity and American Hustle - which were the worst two in the bunch, IMO).
  • I always thought Matthew McConaughey was such a douche and his Oscar acceptance speech didn't do him any favor. But then I saw Dallas Buyers Club and was left speechless by his performance. I loved him so much, I actually IMDb-ed his ass and checked out his newest show True Detective and movie Killer Joe. Loved, loved, loved (!!!) his role in Killer Joe. My new movie crush.
  • Cate Blanchett was the most beautiful creature on the red carpet at the Oscars and her performance in Blue Jasmine was outstanding, while the movie wasn't anything too special in my eyes.
  • Jennifer Lawrence rocks! That's all.
  • Poor Leo! I really enjoyed him in The Wolf of Wall Street. The movie is basically Catch Me If You Can with hookers and drugs. =)
  • Great movie and my second new movie crush in the form of Michael Fassbender. Damn! Those eyes...

True Detective is too much awesome to handle. The main reason I wanted to see it was Woody, but then Matthew in the role of detective Rust took my breath away. Macabre, but somehow sensual. Makes me really think and question my exsistence. I highly recommend it!

I also started watching The Walking Dead. I'm in the middle of season 2 at the moment and I already hate pretty much all of the characters. Except for Daryl (duh!). It's still a very entertaining series though. And not only when you watch it - the best are the dreams you get after watching The Walking Dead right before you go to sleep. I killed plenty of zombies that night. ;)

A photo of me and my little swatch-helper. I swear Aishila is the most adorable little creature under the sun.

Posts of the week(s):

Spektor from Spektor's Nails did an amazing Waterspotted Chameleon manicure with Dance Legend's Wazowski duochrome. I love it!

Long, perfect and polished: Nailbamboo's nails. The first time with Dance Legend Strutter and the second time with China Glaze Fancy Pants

Another perfection under another name. Anna Gorelova posted swatches of my piCture pOlish Freya's Cats and I adore them. Her post on a England Ballerina Collection is full of gorgeous delicate photos and it isn't hard to believe she got her own nail polish collection - Anna Gorelova by Dance Legend. I'm gonna pretend those owls on the bottles are actually cats.

Back in my purple nail polish craze, I would go crazy about this polish. Now, I can refrain, but I still have to admit it's pretty darn gorgeous. Cirque Coronation by Fashion Polish

Dance Legend - Roz (Chameleon Collection)

I have two more Dance Legend Chameleon shades to show you. Today you'll meet Roz. And she's much more pretty in the form of a polish than she is in the Monsters Inc.
Dance Legend in Roz (Chameleon Collection)

Roz is a burgundy/magenta shade which shifts to gold and green. You can see blue edges in the bottle, but I couldn't see blue shade on my nails. Sadly.

The weather is really nice here and I took the chance and photographed Roz on sunlight. It looks frosty, but that's not really the case IRL. This is just to show you the color switch from burgundy/magenta to gold and green-ish shade.

The formula was the same as with the other Chameleon shades. Nice to apply and opaque in 3 thin coats. Here's another photo made indoors on natural lighting. Looks pretty nice, huh?

Review: Glitter Gal - Transfusion [via Hypnotic Polish]

Introducing another beauty I got via Hypnotic Polish: this Glitter Gal holographic goodness is called Transfusion

Transfusion is a plum-ish/red purple shade filled with holographic shimmer. I'm a bit confused with this polish, to be honest. The name suggests the color would be blood red, but it's actually more on the warm purple side. It's also funny how different this polish looks/photographs under different lighting conditions. And also, how it looks when top coat is added. The name 'transformer' would suit it better in my opinion. =)

This is how it looked under artificial lighting: on left without top coat and on right with one layer of Essence Better Than Gel Nails top sealer. As you can see, top coat makes it look deeper and darker, but it also dulls the holo shimmer. It's still visible, although it changes from linear to scattered looking holo shimmer.

With top coat.
Glitter Gal - Transfusion

Here's an outdoor photo of Transfusion on natural lighting, without top coat. You can see it looks much warmer here and more on the red side of the color scale. The finish isn't as glossy as I would have liked, but I prefer a satiny finish with linear holo effect from glossy with dull holo shine.
Glitter Gal - Transfusion

Once again: the difference between Transfusion without (on the left) and with top coat (on the right) on natural lighting. The formula of this polish was perfect and the application was really easy. The brush is small, but easy to work with and I didn't have to do any cleanup after the application. That's always a plus. Transfusion needs 2 coats for full opacity and it dries relatively fast. The finish isn't glossy, but somewhat satiny. Adding a top coat over it will make it glossy, but as I mentioned, it will also change the features of the polish quite a bit. I suggest you try it with and without to see which look you prefer.

My little helper was (of course) around again...
