Thank you!

I'm still having a hard time believing my baby is gone. I don't think it's appropriate to love one of your furry ones more than others, but I have to admit my bond with Aishila was the strongest. She's been ill a lot (ever since she was a kitten) and for that reason she needed more care and attention. That's how we got so attached to each other. She would come to sit in my lap whenever she saw me sitting down, she slept with me most of the time - I knew exactly how she liked to sleep and she'd wait for me to make a little ''pool'' with my arm so she could cuddle next to me (between my body and my arm). After she'd be comfortable enough, she would turn around and give me a nose kiss... I've met a lot of cats in my life, but this one was indeed very, very special. She might have been small, but she had a heart of a giant.

Thank you so much for your kind words on my previous Aishila post!

After Aishila passed away, I took Jimi to the vet for blood tests (since she's the oldest cat in my family - she's 9 years old). They have the same mother and I wanted to make sure Jimi's liver is OK and this wouldn't happen again. I was so nervous when I got the tests, but I'm happy to say - Jimi is a healthy girl. Her creatinine and BUN levels are normal and she doesn't have a diabetes... Well, at least I got some good news.

Swatches & Review: Nayll Nail Polish + My Custom Shades

Nayll is all about giving you the opportunity to make your own frankenpolish (you own custom shade) without the mess frankening comes with and without searching various shops for the right ingredients. Making your own nail polish shade is really easy at Nyall: pick a base, choose the color of shimmer or the color and shape of glitter, name your polish and you're done.
''At NAYLL, we have put together a massive list of unique proven inredients that is growing all the time. Now in one place you can have access to more options than you could have ever imagined. We've done all the hard work for you so you can be free to do the  best part, DESIGN WHATEVER YOU CAN IMAGINE!'' (Nayll)
Sara, the founder of Nayll, offered me the opportunity to try it out for myself. I got three Nyall shades and made three shades by myself. Here are the color drops of all of them.

Holy Holo TopCoat, 1 coat (over Mysterioso)

Holy Holo is just what the name suggests. A top coat that will give your base a holographic shimmer. This can change any color into a holographic shimmer. It's more shimmery and sparkly in real life.

It's OK, She's With Me, 1 coat (over dark grey base) + Smooth It Out Glitter TopCoat

It's OK, She's With Me is a glitter shade from the Those Cray Cray Weekends collection. Its base is black jelly which is filled with golden, silver and black glitter of different shapes. I used a generous layer of Nayll Smooth It Out Glitter TopCoat over it to even it out.

Mysterioso, 3 coats

Mysterioso is a shade from the creme colors collection. It looks a lot more drab on the Nayll website. Mine looks much darker - just like on the photo above.

And here are my three custom shades. I decided to go with a theme - and the theme was Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Yes, I picked a book as my inspiration.

Karou, 3 coats

''Karou is a blue-haired teenage art student who lives in Prague, running errands for Brimstone, a chimaera who is the closest thing to a father she has. She is capable of performing magic through wishes and is a skilled martial artist.'' (Wiki)

Akiva, 2 coats

''Akiva is a supernaturally beautiful young man whose face possesses high cheekbones. White scars run across his hands, while his fingers are tattooed with black lines that mark each chimaera he has slain in battle. Like all seraphim, his wings are fiery and able to be hidden while casting a glamour - though they will still appear in his shadow. Akiva's amber eyes, framed with heavy eyelashes and kohl, are fire-like as well.'' (Wiki)

Akiva + Holy Holo TopCoat

Brimstone's Door, 1 coat (over light grey base) + Smooth It Out Glitter TopCoat

''Brimstone is the only father figure Karou knows. With a menacing demeanor and a monstrous appearance, the intimidating image he presents does not match his capacity for tenderness. He collects teeth - some human, some not - and operates out of a dark workshop, which has doorways that lead to it from all over the world.'' (Wiki)

Creating my own nail polish really was as easy as I though it would be. I'm not completely happy with the colors I've created, but since I couldn't see them in advance... I'll give myself a break. All of these polishes have good formulas - It's OK, She's With Me is a special one since it's so packed with glitter. It's harder to apply, but not impossible. I love the fact you can name your polish. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the frosty look of my two shimmer shades, but that's my personal preference - I think you all know by now I'm not a frosty/pearly lover.

You can buy Nayll polishes and make your own on Nayll website. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter

R.I.P Aishila

A lot has happened in the last few months, but my energy level does not allow me to post as regularly as I should. I do feel like I should tell you that my little one passed away today. It was a hard choice to make, but euthanasia felt like the best solution. She's been losing weight fast in the last week, didn't want to eat or drink and was severely dehydrated. I took her to the vet where they took her blood and put her on IV. The blood tests weren't good at all. Her creatinine level was 8 (normal levels are between 0.8 and 2.4 mg/dL) and her BUN (urea) was 130 mg/dL (normal levels are from 16 to 36). These weren't the only numbers that didn't fall into the ''normal'' category, but they were the ones that suggested she was in the final stage of chronic renital failure (CRF). A disease which cannot be cured. When we came home after the IV on the first day, I immediately did an internet search for CRF, trying to see if there's anything I could do. I found this great site about CRF and ARF (acute renal failure) which I recommend to all cat owners - http://www.felinecrf.org/

I tried with IV's for three days and the vet was supposed to teach me how to do sub-q's as well. She felt a bit better after the first IV, and she got Hill's k/d food which is designed specially for animals with CRF. On the second day it got worse. She didn't feel like cuddling anymore, she wanted to be alone and she would urinate all the time. Since there's no real cure for this disease, I decided to let her go. I couldn't wait for her to die of heart failure or fluids in her lungs... starvation or dehydration. It was one of the most difficult decisions I had to make... My heart is broken. She was a very special cat, a fighter and she loved everyone. You will be missed, my little monkey...

Review: Born Pretty Store Nail Studs

You don't need much to make a 'boring' creme manicure edgy in a matter of minutes. I'm almost too old for studs (emphasis on the almost) but I can't help myself. I still love them. On my boots, on my bags, my accessories ... and my nails are no exception. =)
Born Pretty Store Rhinestone Studs

I used these Born Pretty Store rhinestone studs for the manicure in this post. They come in a little plastic wheel which contains approximately 350 pieces of round and square studs in two colors - gold and silver. They look really small, but it's the small surface that allows them to adhere to the nails really well.
Born Pretty Store Rhinestone Studs

I used Rimmel Deliciously Dark as a base. The manicure was already a day old when I decided to add the studs. I applied a layer of Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer over it and placed the studs over it while it was still wet.

a England - Hurt No Living Thing

Hurt No Living Thing is the newest shade from the a England Heavenly Quotes collection. It has a sheer formula which looks best when applied over another nail polish color. You can also use it on its own for natural nails with pink shimmering veil.
''Delicate muted shade fluctuating between dove grey and dusty pink to suggest to be gentle and kind to all creatures.'' (a England)

I tried layering Hurt No Living Thing over different bases. First and most obvious choice was layering over black creme (one coater) nail polish called Camelot.

Slightly less obvious, but still very pretty - layering over Tristam: a gorgeous deep blue with holographic shimmer.

And for grand finale - layering over Saint George: deep green with holo shimmer. Since it was Saint George who slayed the dragon, I thought it would be appropriate to layer Hurt No Living Thing over it. I love how they work together - they make an almost duochrome-ish effect. Very appropriate!

Like all a England polishes, this one too has an impeccable formula. It's easy to work with, the brush is great and it dries into a glossy finish. Its ability to transform any nail polish by covering it with a delicate shimmery pink veil will give you a lot of manicure options. =)

You can buy Hurt No Living Thing on a England website for £9.00. If you're located out of the UK, check out the Where to Buy tab. You can also find a England on Facebook and Twitter
